Originally posted by nariusseldonOn the other hand, Halo 3 does contain some pretty innovative features, which bring added value to an already strong FPS title.
Innovation is needed to turn out the most mundane of products, if they are to be successful. In terms of MMOs, it might be just that small change in the combat system which makes your game that much more enjoyable and a big seller. You never know... |

Originally posted by Blackswordsm I'm referring to the game breaking technical issues that took Blizzard around a week to fix. Players also received free playtime for the downtime.
In terms of AoC, there are simply too many things that are broken, the game doesn't feel fluid and immersive but rather glitchy and unresponsive. |

I have been playing since the beginning of this year in beta, yes the game has improved by leaps and bounds, but it is simply not there yet. Give it a month and your opinion might change drastically. Totally unrelated to our argument, might I suggest that before replying angrily, you could maybe weigh in what the other person has written and try to come up with a more thought-out response. This would make your posts substabtially more credible. |

Originally posted by GoldknyghtLet's compare WoW and AoC at release. The release of WoW was riddled with technical issues and bugs, class balance was much poorer than it is today and there wasn't that much end-game content. However, all in all once the technical issues were solved, it was damn fun to level up your character and play the game. The release of AoC was technically superb, no major issues except standalone technical problems on specific machines. However, all in all, when taking in consideration the enviromental bugs, the combat system, ui and overall design coupled with the missing features at release, the game feels more like a fully functional open beta, a husk of a game, if you like. After the first 20 levels your options for progression are still very limited and content quickly runs out. For me the game feels hollow, not immersive and the fun factor certainly isn't there.
Again this is a matter of opinion and you might disagree completely. |

Originally posted by BlackswordsmRight, right, a truly open mind we have. 1. Late game class balance was not this jinxed in WoW at release, for example. You'll realise just how useful your necro is once you hit 80. 2. Game mechanics are not THIS repetitive in most games. Again, this is a matter of opinion. 3. Never come back? This truly shows what kind of attitude you portray towards people with differing opinions. I'm sure you are a valuable part of the AoC community. 4. I am a paying subscriber to AoC and also a long-time member of MMORPG.com so I have every right to make my opinion heard on the AoC forums here. Just because you disagree does not give you the right to be dismissive and over-bearing. |

And frankly, if someone takes a forum post here word for word and doesn't do any analysis of their own, they deserve their faith, whether it be subscribing or not trying the game at all.
To an MMO veteran I would suggest trying the game out if money isn't an issue. |

Originally posted by Blackswordsm You misunderstood me. I do not mind bugs and glitches at release. The fact of the matter is, that late-game class balance is still broken, the game mechanics are horribly repetative and the overall enjoyment factor is just not there for me. Like I said, this is a matter of opinion. I loved the game msyelf at first, but it got old very, very fast and the game breaking flaws just grew on me until I realised I was simply not having fun playing the game.
That having been said, I still think AoC has huge potential to becoming a great game, and I truly hope Funcom takes fast and decisive steps to get the game back on track. I have an open subscription at the moment, but the way things look now, I will definitely not be paying for a second month. |

Some of the anti-hater criticism is valid. That does not change the fact that AoC did not live up to the hype. Again this is a matter of opinion, you might like it. I was the biggest AoC fanboy back in the day, before I got into beta.
I'm willing to come back in around six months to check out how the game plays then. Funcom still has a bucketload of work on their hands to making this game a quality title. |

Originally posted by Cabe2323There is actually a lot of speculation regarding if the first Warcraft game was first slated to be a Warhammer title, but in the end the negotiations for obtaining the IP didn't work out. I don't think anybody knows whether this is true except the guys at Blizzard/Games Workshop. The similarities between the two franchises in terms of artistic style are quite obvious.
If you look at Blizzard's earlier title, 'The Lost Vikings' you will find that the art style is also very similar to that of the Warhammer world. |

I would assume that a sizeable investment like this is hinting at a new title, and not just polishing up LotRO. Then again, that is just me. |
