I used to play a fantastic persistent RTS game years ago called Mankind. From what i can tell it is still running but not sure about the population. The only other issue is that the game has changed hands alot and the source code for the game has got lost, lol.. so there is no updates.
Other than that, it is a great game to play.. www.mankind.net
I would love to go back but low population and no updates keep me away.
Oh most players dont use the website forums, they hang around on the mankind outpost (delphi forums)

Why not give Ryzom a try. The game is now free to play upto level 125.
The greatest thing about Ryzom is that your not limited to just being a healer.. you can play any role and also create your own skills(actions/powers).
The world is huge and there is always sights to see. The game has been pretty low population untill the free got released and the number of people playing has raised a hell of alot. The game is quite complex to learn at first, so if you do give it a try, send a /tell to Ixolite or Chizeta and we would be more than happy to show you some of the sights and give you a helping hand with your new adventures on Atys.
Cheers, i will check Xsyon out :)
I'm alittle bit lost and after some advice for finding a mmo for me. What i'm looking for is a game with the crafting complexity like 'a tale in the desert' but with some combat action as well.
I love 'a tale in the desert' but not having any action kills it for me in the long run. I dont mind its is free or subscription.
Thanks for any advice
i carnt believe i passed this over

I remember awhile ago trying this game out (about 2 years ago, i thinks) and i thought it was terrible. I saw the new review about the game and i thought i will give it a try again.
It blew my socks off, I don't know what changed.. me?.. the game?
The controls take abit of getting used to but they work well with the game after awhile. The graphics are not great but they work. I have not had any lag. It took about 3hrs to get to level 1 and about the same to get to level 2.
The community is fun and friendly.
I just love that you can build almost anywhere and build what you want.. lol, you have to work at it though ;)
If you love crafting and building in a sandbox world then this is for you. I will be subscribing!!

lol, FE a sandbox!! I don't think so!!!
This game had so much promise and it failed big time!
Now, I have been playing Ryzom on and off for years. I really love the game and the community is amazing
The only thing that i hate and its getting to the point where i will start looking around for another game is the out of combat HP/Stam/Sap regen is sooo slow.
Don't get me wrong, if your in a team this is not an issue as when your in a team you will heal each other. The main thing is i don't always want to be in a team or there is no-one else hunting... so you go solo and kill 3 mobs with no issues then stop to regen your HP... for 5 min??
You don't really notice this issue much for the first 100 levels but after that its painfully slow to level having to stop for 5 min after 3 mobs.
Well, I will stop whining like a sick yubo and get some digging done.
