Why don't more people play Age of Conan ?
General Discussion « Age of Conan 12/31/10 11:45:41 AM
It's got nothing to do with the movies, homes. It's based on the original stories... unlike 90% of the movies. |

Cataclysm The best mmo expansion hands down.
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 12/11/10 9:35:30 AM
Haters be hatin'. I loved the expansion. Got me back playing again. I am quite enamored of Goblins. I doubt I'll play any other races for from here on out. Once you go green, you never... um... well, yeah. |

Made a Tabula Rasa video with some in-game footage
General Discussion « Tabula Rasa 12/04/10 4:59:45 PM
Me too -- I really miss it. I know the game has its detractors, and needed a nice big boost in content, but honestly? I was sure those things were going to come about if the game had been allowed to continue. It remains one of the most fun MMOs I've ever played, and I've played almost every major MMO that's hit since 2000. Thanks for posting the video. |

Oh, hey, I remember that game! I used to play that game... Ultima IV, right? I had it for the Commodore 64. |

If PVP'ers think Carebears (PVE'ers) are sort of wimpish...
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/13/09 7:49:09 PM
Originally posted by pencilrick "Carebear" in MMO gaming is synonymous with a PVE player who favors helping and "caring" over ruthless PVP play. "Carebear" is also a contemptuous label many PVP players place upon the PVE crowd, thinking the latter must be wimps because they cannot handle the tension of player versus player dynamics. While "Carebear" used to be a sort of insult, it is now more embraced as simply being a PVE player.
I haven't embraced it. I think using it to label a person who doesn't enjoy PvP is slightly childish. I have a full-time job, a full-time school schedule, and four children. I don't find the chaotic nature of PvP all that relaxing after a full day. I'm not entirely certain how that makes me a "wimp". |

General: Skelton: Space, The Final Farce Here?

I'm disappointed by not having received my beta invite (I bought a 6 month sub) but it's definitely not the most pressing issue in my life. I do agree, however, that Cryptic made the STO beta entry a key selling point and is ethically (though perhaps not legally) liable for not following through on what they offered. |

Champions Online: Champions Online Review
News Discussion « General Discussion 9/30/09 4:13:11 PM
I'm having fun. That's all I'm worried about. When it's not fun anymore, I'll move on. Until then -- up, up and AWAY! Oh, and Gauntlet Chainsaw is a Gadgeteering power, not at a Power Armor power. |

Rabbid Fanboys! Every game has them which ones are the worst?

Whiny, petulant tantrum-throwers who complain about every feature of a game! Every game has them! Which ones are the worst? |

I agree. Well put. |

Champions Online is getting ready to Start...will this be the WoW Killer?
General Discussion « Champions Online 8/07/09 8:26:09 PM
Short answer? No. It's a niche game. It's not a WoW-killer, if by "WoW-Killer" you mean a game that's going to sink WoW. |

You mean I'm not 'playing it right?!'
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 8/02/09 11:28:00 AM
That's true, cressowski -- but I've yet to play a game where the actual mechanics are radically different at level 50 than they were at level 1. Sure, there are more bells and whistles and rewards, obviously. And I'm speaking completely from my own perspective here. |

You mean I'm not 'playing it right?!'
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 8/02/09 11:16:35 AM
I agree. Graphics, combat mechanics, quality of writing, the community... these are things you experience in the first few hours of gameplay. If it doesn't grab you, it doesn't grab you. There are plenty of games I've tried and known within a few hours that it wasn't something I was going to devote my time to. |

With the release of Jedi as a starter profession...
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 7/25/09 8:32:41 AM
I'll definitely be making a Jedi. Oh, and a Sith. Oh yeah, and a Smuggler. And a Bounty Hunter. And whatever else I feel like making. And, to echo a previous poster, this is the Old Republica era. There are SUPPOSED to be a buttload of Jedi running around. |

I've played almost every MMORPG out there, and I've enjoyed most of them. But if I had to pick one class that really married the perfect concept with my style of gameplay, it would have to be the Demolitionist from Tabula Rasa. Just the right combination of damage and utility. You could get pasted somethin' awful if you weren't paying attention, but if you lined up all the attacks right, the resulting firework show was amazing. I also like playing characters that have a "bag of tricks," so the concept was appealing. Close second: Hunter - Lord of the Rings Online. Great soloability, good damage, some neat tricks. And the travel abilities -- wow! Good class for impatient people. Unfortunately, when I was playing, Hunters had a bad reputation due to a sizable portion of ignorant and inexperienced Hunter players. |

Why Age of Conan won't last (My story of quite possibly the worst customer support experience I've ever had.)
General Discussion « Age of Conan 4/27/09 9:38:30 PM
Any chance that you were the victim of a keylogger or something? I had a similar situation with World of Warcraft, in which my long-dormant accounts were suddenly terminated due to my allegedly "exploiting the economy." We got it all sorted out and I made sure I cleaned out both my systems... but I'm still nervous as hell now. |

What will you play when Tabula Rasa is gone?
General Discussion « Tabula Rasa 2/18/09 10:35:26 AM
Little of this, little of that. The games I'm looking forward to are DC Universe, Stargate Worlds, Star Trek Online and The Old Republic. I might try out the Slayer in Warhammer but... I think I'm done with fantasy-based MMORPG's for a while. I'll miss Tabula Rasa, though. The untapped potential in that game is unbelievable. |

Yeah, but I think FANPERSON is more politically correct. So it should be FANPERSON. |

Warhammer Online : Age of Reckoning: Jacobs on GOA, Forums and Accountability
News Discussion « General Discussion 9/22/08 6:06:44 PM
I think Jacobs' response to the knee-jerk, vitriolic nonsense that spews forth from certain customers' wounded sense of entitlement is spot-on. The customer always has a right to communicate his disapproval in a professional manner, and be responded to in kind. What a customer does not have the right to do, however, is be abusive. Your rights end where someone else's begins, and a representative of a company shouldn't have to put up with that kind of nonsense. Re: Lack of Official Forums. I don't know that I completely agree on principle, since I believe that one of my favorite MMORPGs ever -- Tabula Rasa -- was weakened by a fragmented community. I think an official site would have done wonders for that game. But I definitely see Jacobs' points about the mob mentality that tends to manifest itself on official forums. And anyway, forum frequenters represent only a portion of a total playerbase.
