FF XIV should not become more casual friendly and should instead keep the feel of FF XI
General Discussion « Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn 7/28/09 1:22:10 AM
I am not totally sure that FFXi isn't casual player friendly. ToAH and WoTG introduced a lot of hardcore content, but brought about a lot of casual content. Campaign (for one) was a lot of fun, I wouldn't consider campaign "hardcore" at all. A lot of people (casual and hardcore players) were more than happy to seek a party, and then go off and gain a moderate amount of exp and other bonuses in Campaign Battles. This system is a lot like Besieged, where as the players could have fun and gain a small amount of exp and help there server benefit form defending the city. If these types of systems are a precursor to the content we will see more of in FFXIV then I bet we will all be happy, but in all honesty these systems cater to casual game play. I don't see SE doing away with missions, quests and other battlefields that provide a challenge. So if they say the game will have more of a casual feel, we may have already tested the game concepts they are leaning the game towards. |

Umm.. yes because saying "got to disagree with you again" makes someone a stalker. Anyway, get over yourself and concentrate on FFXIV, and you'll be alright. About your time thing, whats the big deal.. your talking about a whole whopping 12 dollars a month my god. Maybe that is something you should consider yourself before you enter a game.. if its not going to be worth it to you, then dont play that game. I'm in no way what anyone would call rich, but I cant afford 12 meisly dollars a month sheesh. Besides, there are many benefits to us, the players having a monthly fee. As a matter of fact, I made a post somewhere else on the site that I would be happy to pay even more, if it was to go toward something beneficial such as stopping botters and such. I am slowly loosing intrest in FFXIV. |

I would go on but I would rather have a conversation with someone who doesn't attack my screen name, I played for 5 1/2 year I understand the concepts in the game. I hope you enjoy FFXIV, who knows we might be in the same LS where you can try to belittle me there as well. Go off with your bad self, much props, you get a big "E" for effort. |

IDK, if a player has been hunting AF in Dynmais for a year and for reasons out of their controll the AF never drops or there was a error within the LS and or the party and the Item was given to the wrong player and/or the AF was lost, that player is screwed. How much time is an acceptable amout of time to get AF. If the Dynamis system awarded points, ( much like the Dynamis LS do now,) the player could have purchased the AF from an NPC with their points, call it a last chance to gain such gear prior to quiting the Dynamis LS, and possibly the game. |

Originally posted by Eagler777 LOL you said, "got to disagree with you again," I just made an account on the 22nd and I already have a post stalker. 8D Anyways charging $50.00 was more a joke, they shouldn't charge more than a the monthly subscription. I am just saying that if you have kids and you only got 4 hours of game play in this month, you shouldn't get charged for the full value of the subscription. |

I support a system where a player shouldn't have to pay for a month of content when they only played for 12 hours. They should implement a system where a player pays for the time they spent in the game and caps to the monthly subscription of $12.00. Example: If you played 6 hours a day for a month, you played for +/- 168 hours, you pay $12.00. to give gil sellers something to worry about, 300 hours should pay $50.00 a month. 8D to give players a chance to claim they need to get a life, anyone over 300 hours should pay $50.00 Not saying these numbers should be the correct values, just showing an association to hours played per dollar value.

I agree with every one's points. NM are a great addition to the game and aside from the good drops it was a pivotal aspect that drove players out of the cities and into the expansive world. Its nice when you die and a raise walks by on their way to a spawn location, and they help you out. So to an extent it un-congested the world and spread the population of low level and high level players.

I hope mages can melee in parties, rather than conserve MP. I hope I can sub any class i want without "gimping" I hope I can use any weapon I want in the game. I hope I can play a Taru War/ranger with a great sword and still be qualified for tough content.

The game you are making has to have a following. Good to be considered Pop culture/cult movement. How you go about this will do wonders for your game. (Hannah Montana video games for Nintendo DS and Wii platforms have sold 1.7 million games in the U.S., as of February 2008.) Are we for real?
