Divide et Impera

A strategy where small power groups are prevented from linking up and becoming more powerful.

In politics and sociology, divide and rule (derived from Latin divide et impera) (also known as divide and conqure) is a combination of political, military and economic strategy of gaining and maintaining power by breaking up larger concentrations of power into chunks that individually have less power than the one implementing the strategy. In reality, it often refers to a strategy where small power groups are prevented from linking up and becoming more powerful, since it is difficult to break up existing power structures.

Well its a PVP PvE game where you gain points for various ranking ladders, by performing various actions.

For example, the ranking system in Battlefield 2 Bad Company.

The game supports various ranking ladders called supremacy scenarios which fall into political, military, economic and cultural ladders. The ladders have sub ladders which are broken down to empire, guild, and player.

To make it short, as a player, you compete against other guilds to become the ruling party of your empire. Where the reward is the ability to change game mechanics.  If your empire grows strong to lead the fight against other empires you gain even more control and have more tools at your disposal to change more game mechanics.

I have been creating this game on paper for about a year, just as a hobby.

Spellborn NV controls the rights to the game but has an agreement with Frogster so Frogster Asia can "redevelop" the game into a F2P MMORPG.

That is correct.

WoW, Hist comes to MMORPG.  You are fare game here ~.^

Give us some news!

Tell DP to give you some news so you can tell us!

Warda is only making me more concerned that Frogster is dropping the ball.

It really is a horrible situation.

Great game.

No news.

No community.

Some images from the game, bad quality but atleast something to look at.

I am not totally sure that FFXi isn't casual player friendly. ToAH and WoTG introduced a lot of hardcore content, but brought about a lot of casual content. Campaign (for one) was a lot of fun, I wouldn't consider campaign "hardcore" at all. A lot of people (casual and hardcore players) were more than happy to seek a party, and then go off and gain a moderate amount of exp and other bonuses in Campaign Battles. This system is a lot like Besieged, where as the players could have fun and gain a small amount of exp and help there server benefit form defending the city. If these types of systems are a precursor to the content we will see more of in FFXIV then I bet we will all be happy, but in all honesty these systems cater to casual game play. I don't see SE doing away with missions, quests and other battlefields that provide a challenge. So if they say the game will have more of a casual feel, we may have already tested the game concepts they are leaning the game towards.

Ok, got to disagree with you again here Stilla.. how about this for example. Many many many, well most of the times, when I was done for the night, I would set up a bazaar to sell items and stuff.. and I'll even admit that a few times I was so tired from work that I accidently fell asleep playing... and you think we should be charged  money for that? >.>

LOL you said, "got to disagree with you again," I just made an account on the 22nd and I already have a post stalker. 8D

Anyways charging $50.00 was more a joke, they shouldn't charge more than a the monthly subscription. I am just saying that if you have kids and you only got 4 hours of game play in this month, you shouldn't get charged for the full value of the subscription.

Umm.. yes because saying "got to disagree with you again" makes someone a stalker.  Anyway, get over yourself and concentrate on FFXIV, and you'll be alright.

About your time thing, whats the big deal.. your talking about a whole whopping 12 dollars a month my god.  Maybe that is something you should consider yourself before you enter a game.. if its not going to be worth it to you, then dont play that game.  I'm in no way what anyone would call rich, but I cant afford 12 meisly dollars a month sheesh.  Besides, there are many benefits to us, the players  having a monthly fee.  As a matter of fact, I made a post somewhere else on the site that I would be happy to pay even more, if it was to go toward something beneficial such as stopping botters and such.

I am slowly loosing intrest in FFXIV.

Haha dude, your talking about completely changing the way an entire system works, and taking away our options because of your lack of skill and/or organization.  The only way those things could/would happen is if you and your entire group are not paying attention and are not organized enough to know who should be getting what.  I mean, even your system is flawed.  In dynamis right now, you could get lucky and get 5 drops in the first 5 mins in dynamis, its happened, and the drops help keep it exciting.  With your system, what you have to win to get a point? And how many points would you need for an item? I mean otherwise if you get points just for going, then anyone who is rich could just spend the 1,000,000 every 3 days and never have to even kill anything and still get points.  Furthermore, SE should only have to do so much, and let us, the people, decide how items are going to be distributed, if you dont like how the shell your in is doing it.. go somewhere else or start your own shell with your own rules.  Seriously, why are you all about having our options taken from us?  Have you been to jail and liked it or something? >.>

Um yeah I am talking about changing the way the entire system works. Its not because I lack skill and/or organization. I would go on but I would rather have a conversation with someone who doesn't attack my screen name, I played for 5 1/2 year I understand the concepts in the game. I hope you enjoy FFXIV, who knows we might be in the same LS where you can try to belittle me there as well. Go off with your bad self, much props, you get a big "E" for effort.

IDK, if a player has been hunting AF in Dynmais for a year and for reasons out of their controll the AF never drops or there was a error within the LS and or the party and the Item was given to the wrong player and/or the AF was lost, that player is screwed.  How much time is an acceptable amout of time to get AF.  If the Dynamis system awarded points, ( much like the Dynamis LS do now,)  the player could have purchased the AF from an NPC with their points, call it a last chance to gain such gear prior to quiting the Dynamis LS, and possibly the game.

I support a system where a player shouldn't have to pay for a month of content when they only played for 12 hours. They should implement a system where a player pays for the time they spent in the game and caps to the monthly subscription of $12.00.

Example:

If you played 6 hours a day for a month, you played for +/- 168 hours, you pay $12.00.
If you played for 126 hours for the month, (3 weeks @ 6 hours a day) you should pay $9 bucks.
If you played for 84 hours for the month, (2 weeks @ 6 hours a day) you should pay $6 bucks.
If you played for 42 hours for the month, (1 week @ 6 hours a day) you should pay $3 bucks.
If you played for 1,000 hours for the month you only pay $12.00, or:

to give gil sellers something to worry about, 300 hours should pay $50.00 a month. 8D

to give players a chance to claim they need to get a life, anyone over 300 hours should pay $50.00

Not saying these numbers should be the correct values, just showing an association to hours played per dollar value.

I agree with every one's points. NM are a great addition to the game and aside from the good drops it was a pivotal aspect that drove players out of the cities and into the expansive world. Its nice when you die and a raise walks by on their way to a spawn location, and they help you out. So to an extent it un-congested the world and spread the population of low level and high level players.

Not all good gear dropped from NMs, the point systems from Assault and Campaign allowed players the ability to acquire gear that was good gear and it removed the system that HL end game LS suffer from, where as the time placed into a completing goals where not so evenly distributed when it came to looting. I liked this aspect of the game and they could just expand the points accusation to all the content in the game. It makes more sense that you go off and kill a NM for points and trade the points in to acquire gear.

Dynamis Guilds operated this way anyways, as Dynamis was flawed and unbalanced. Players were forced to produce a points system to even out the awards, why SE didn't see that players were correcting a problem in the system is beyond me but in the future they should reflect upon player generated content such as point systems to correct the game.

I hope mages can melee in parties, rather than conserve MP.

I hope I can sub any class i want without "gimping"

I hope I can use any weapon I want in the game.

I hope I can play a Taru War/ranger with a great sword and still be qualified for tough content.

The game you are making has to have a following. Good to be considered Pop culture/cult movement. How you go about this will do wonders for your game.

(Hannah Montana video games for Nintendo DS and Wii platforms have sold 1.7 million games in the U.S., as of February 2008.) Are we for real?

- The Dark Crystal

- The Secret of NIMH

- Time Bandits

- Dune

Yep I am dreaming big here. lol
