I agree, I am loving Skyrim.

Asherons call did this for me though.  Wandering into somewhere, where there was nobody else, finding a random hut, or gathering, cave, or even a portal.

Then just feeling all alone, working through, and then to find an Othoi 50 levels higher than you at the end who just one shots you.

Or to find a chest with sometning really cool, or to find a chest with nothing but cheese in it.

Either way I always felt immersed in the world.

It kinda sounds  like asherons call.

I played Asherons Call for about 5 years, many many years ago.  tried to start up Asherons Call again, and just couldnt get hitched.

Reasons why I think old MMO's were harder.

Quests -

There was no Quest book that told you what to collect, where to go, who to talk to.  When a quest came out, it took a community, guilds, an army of people to sometimes figure out even where a quest started.

Town Criers in cities would give you hints of where quests would start but that was all.

Spellcasting -

You couldnt just cast magic missile a million times.  First you had to learn it by mixing different types of spell componants to learn the spell.  Then you had to carry enough of those componants to be able to cast that spell.  And each time you cast that spell it would consume some of the componants.

Same goes for archery, you couldnt just sit and plink away forever.  You had to buy your arrows, and make sure you had enough stock.

Classes -

There were no classes. You had to make your own character with your own stats and skills.  You werent just handed pre configured classes.

Im sure there is more, but thats all I can think of now.

Atlantica Online is great.

Give it a try, once you play it for a little bit and start to understand it, its great!

You can log out while in a dungeon, or just go sit in a corner, no mobs will attack you.

If your in a battle you can "run away" and then log out.

I am having it... it really sucks.

THis game is so awesome though!

Whats the difference between the East and West servers?

East meaning Europe / China?  West meaning Americas?

Where do you download the client.  I log into the website, activated my Key, and Click the Download Client button, but it says "Coming Soon."

Is there anywhere a new beta tester can download the client?  The beta email told me to use their site, but its way to slow and keeps sending me in a loop.  I cant find the client on the Beta site.

 I do not understand why people are bashing blizzard so much.  The game is evolving.  The reason why I dont play it anymore is because I got bored of it.  You really can only play a game so much until you get tired of all the skills, content, and fighting the same mobs with different colours.

I will always trust blizzard to make a great game.  No issue there.  I still think WOW is a GREAT game.  I just got bored of it.  And I expect that to happen after playing a game for 4 years.

 I remember in Asherons Call, the Beal Zharon live events.  In fact I still have the videos on my computer from them.  These add a whole new fun factor for games.  Not just running around doing scripted things.  Being able to actually see and be apart of live vents is amazing.

 Ive been playing DDO for a few days now, and im really enjoying it.  I find it very solo friendly, and i love how there is a narrator as you do quests, its really neat!

 I wish there was a trial for this game!  I really want to try it.  It sounds like old school AC.  I remember macroing my skills.  Thats not really a bad thing either.  I loved AC, and is still the best game in my opinion.

 I totally agree.  Although I never did end up playing EQ, i played Asherons Call.  And I find old school MMO's took SKILL to play.  Now you just log in and follow the quest lines and eventually you'll hit 60.
