Keep in mind that this is Blizzard we are talking about. I love the company and have never been dissatisfied with any of their games. But they do have trouble estimating how much stress stuff will take. For those of you who are wow players, how many major content patches/expansions went out smooth? You also have to consider they had hundres of thousands of people trying to get on at the same time. I, for one, am very impressed with the game. True, the story is a little lacking and predictable, but I played all week from 1-52 (on a Monk) and am currently in Act 1 of Hell difficulty. The multiplayer adds a fun depth and battle.net/realID makes it very easy to find people to play with. |

Clearly the OP isn't interested in WoW. As far as other games "like it", there aren't really any. I got sucked into SWG and FFXI after I left EQ, evenually ended up playing EQ2 and went to the black abbys that is World of Warcraft. Good communities are pretty hard to find nowadays. EQ/SWG had probably the best communities out of any MMO out there. WoW can be good if you find the right people, but on some level you're right about there being a lot of immature people in the game, you just have to learn to ignore them. I haven't been playing any other MMO's except for dabbling in Runes of Magic (which basically seems to be a huge community of disgruntled/ex wow players).
So I guess what I'm saying is unfortunately I don't think there really is anything like our old EQ days. And the only advice I can offer is keep looking, and maybe try to catch some games in the future at launch and be part of the establishment of the games community?
Good luck! |

I 'm pretty sure I see the point. But advertising costs money. And as someone else stated, Dragon Age appeals to the audience on this site. Were all here to play RPG's, granted this one isn't an MMO, but it happens to be advertised. You obviously just do not understand advertising on the internet. And yes, because they need money so that the site stays alive, they advertise whatever the heck they want. Got a problem with it? Write them an email and see if they even care :) |

Sorry, but do you run a huge website like this? Probably not. And if you do, you're obviously not attempting to host over a million people with over 3million forum posts and reviews of almost 400 games. It takes quite the server/database and not all MMO's are willing to pay for advertising given the economy and the fact that most F2P games are probably hurting due to the economy as well.
Don't spit off about random crap without thinking about it. |

Torchlight: Discussing the Torchlight MMO

Kinda looks to me like a cell-shaded Diablo 3, which makes sense since Schaefer is behind it. Looks like a decent candidate for a cross platform MMO possibly? I'm dying to get my hands on an MMO I can play on my PS3. ^^ |
