This is why independent companies should not make MMO's

You supported that, by a well known company that has developed games before, a game with comments from you like “Blows any game out right now, out of the water. Its so awesome.” Ohh…such a blonde girl-ish thing to say about a product which took a huge nose-dive after 2-months, with that dev-team scrambling to justify their experiment and some leaving on the heels of empty servers. Many will gladly give an indie development team that pushes development with the support and direction of ‘players’, like SV and Mortal Online, rather than listen to a sheep like you that can’t justify support for a failed endeavor at the hands of your supposed ‘experienced’ development team. |

AoC is a prime example of a game developed by supposed knowledgeable folks, folks with manpower, but tanked, and tanked well; sever mergers, developers bailing, and Funcom begging for people to return.
Maybe in the future Funcom will produce a better game, and you'll find that chromosome your missing, but SV hasn't done anything to warrant concern that is not unlike other established developers yet.

Surprised?? That coming from a guy that's played another one of the most borish and mundane mmo's available, aside from the Asian grinders, WoW for 1100 hours?
You are either on crack, missing a chromosome or a combination of the 2. |

First Fantasy SPACE Opera MMORPG! 6 Races 28 Classes! $12 Million development cost so far

But lastly, if your pee-brain thinks that mmorpg.com, a site that takes cash from a whole host of crappy mmo's and crappy Asian grinders that are exactly the same as the rest, is a reputable mmo site, think again. Not to mention the hosting of First-Person-Shooters like Huxley, Gunbound Revolution, etc. This game or any game doesn't need endorsement by mmorpg.com.
Every developer pays a fee for service and exposure on this site; their not listed on this site because of some generosity or inkling that such a game has worth. |

Nice generous score of 6. So this game falls in-between a 2 like poop from Eurogamer and 6, as in mediocre, from mmorpg.com.
That about sums up the breadth, depth, and content for this experiment in shadyness and scam called Darkfall. |

This review is pretty spot on with many things. Having played this game, only to be mislead about character slots and NA transfers, is enough to maintain this game at 2/10. The reviewer addresses some window-dressing that was fixed, but it's all to easy to substitute what was hot-fixed with duct-tape with a few niceties that the ametuer developers have worked on; must be Tacos birthday or something . We all know DF has prolific problems, will continue to have prolific problems, and isnt worth the effort. |

Brad Wright declares SGW all but dead in secon interview!
General Discussion « Stargate Worlds 7/18/09 10:10:37 AM
The obvious remark is “who cares”. The mmorpg market is saturated with crap that it was obvious for even the casual observer that SGW was lame. No one should believe the corporate development team after the debacle that was AoC, PotBS, Tabula Rasa, WAR and most recently, the Darkfall scam of delivering a shell of a grossly incomplete, contentless product, of which such a rudimentary design could only be mastered by the most shifty of scam artists. SGW was heading down the same road and got caught with burning through their cash and fumbling whatever investment they had so horribly, they failed earlier. The leadership of any endeavor begins and ends with the board for any business; even this one. That’s how business is; always was and always is. |

Furthermore the standard price for a boxed PC game in sweden is 4-500 swedish kronor which is roughly 35-40 € (including shipping, just check www.webhallen.com) so their excuse doesnt fly. And the boxed version is NOT a limited edition, the Full Loot bag is. This is a money grab, nothing else. You need to go back to see Sister Mary Catherine in your Elementary school. Until then, please dont play it. Everything many of the games you see do is a 'money grab' I bet; your term. Being a capitalist is not a money grab, offering one game box and early entertainment without skimming subscribers for extra future content is not a money-grab, being up-front and communicative about pricing is not a money grab, paying a premium price for a non-theme park, more sand-box type new product is not a money-grab.
However, being a douche-bag is just that; look in the mirror, being a troll. Wait for the Direct Download, but until then, the game cost what it did in Euros and everyone paid an appropriate currency conversion. That's how free markets and capitalism work. Sorry, but the days of fixed currencies to gold or silver are over (and even then there were currency rates).
Also, they would have had to use mark-to-market accounting, which for the love of what is good I hope you know about (after Enron, Worldcom, Sarbanes Oxley, etc. etc.).
A: Currency rates are forever changing at nearly every second.
This is basic elementary stuff, which kids like you dont seem to grasp; so stay in or return to elementary school and continue to learn. And in the mean-time Free Realms is that way ----> |

This isn’t surprising. Their complete fail on the weather system is a continued testament, since their beta, to less than mediocre effort, at best.
Aventurines’ complete spin about this so-called expansion is nothing more than hot-fixes to elements that have been broke or poorly implemented in this game. And those that continue to subscribe to this experiment are just the marks that the scammers at Aventurine were hoping to get their claws into for continued funding of an ever-failing endeavor. |

Comon. We've played this before. Its called Unreal Tournament and Halo. Why this "mmorpg" site would let alone host this fps, and give it any sort of credibility, or CrimeCraft for that matter, is laughable. |

Original poster, you really need to try other free-to-play (f2p) mmorpgs and trial versions to get a better sense of the value of a mmorpg, sinse WoW has lost it’s luster with many. Whether your into PvP or PvE or a combination, there are several f2p and trial option mmo’s that will give you some entertainment value without spending money, and you can quickly improve your impressions on mmorpg’s by doing so.
WoW has not evolved, but remained stagnant as a very rudimentary PvE game and a very boring and value-less PvP for those that like it as a smartly implemented option. Doing the same raids again and again was just as less appealing as doing the same scenarios again and again for me with the game WAR.
4 years ago, I had a lot of interest in WoW, but after 6-months to a year, after repeatedly doing the same events/raids/smashing the same keyboard numbers again and again, and without progressive breadth and depth of game-play on the back-bone of mediocre graphics, and again, in addition to the very static style of game-play, it became a dis-interest of mine. |

Is DDO worth playing now that it is F2P ?

I will not stand for this. To heck with the smartly and complex system of ddo gaming. Im sticking with WoW, only to press the same button repeatedly and without governing, or my sequence of solo win buttons that make my general practioner, whose treating me for carpal tunnel, damn proud of me.

Will You Play Dungeon And Dragons Online Unlimited? F2P DDO
The Rusty Nail (General) « D&D Online 7/11/09 5:39:23 PM
Yes, absolutley. This is a classic mmorpg, in the role-playing sence. Character customization is graet, hero/class diversity is great, graphics are good, gui and system flexibility is graet, story is great with the vocal narratives as your questing, and quests are very appealing. . .not to mention grouping is really fun and immersive.
This game really should at least be tried by anyone that is remotely interested in mmo's; and its free right now. |

Excellent. In addition to Free Realms, this is exactly what will attract those that play "shadow tag" instead of real "tag", that frown upon events or games where there is a winner and loser, where your handed a win without concept of challenge or slightly harsh consequences.
What would make it better is if there were no levels, no advanced skills or character progression, just stick-figures whereby no one feels as though someone else might have a better appearance than them. |

Honestly, it just doesnt matter. And to think that what the devs are delivering now is considered an expansion is a very silly impression; its nothing more than hot fixes for things that were either broke or mal-designed.
This is not an expansion and never was. The proper terminology is hot-fix. The reason why there is substantially less activity on the main DF forums and responses to "polls" is not that people are playing, but that those so voistrous about being mislead by Aventurine are banned and/or aren'tplaying this experiment any longer.
Dont kid yourself; full loot or not, we know that not only is the EU server in severe decline, but the NA customers see that there are better gaming options than that of a small company trying to scam their marks. |
