MapleStory: Hits Eight Years of FTP in North America
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/17/13 9:23:02 AM
Nexon America’s beloved massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) MapleStory has surpassed eight years of service in North America and is hosting a number of events for its loyal players, 21 percent of whom have played MapleStory for at least half of the game’s lifespan in North America.
MapleStory is a colorful 2-D role-playing experience that gives players access to wild adventures in a growing world filled with distinctive lands, dangerous monsters and a setting where players easily socialize and grow their circle of in-game friends. During the life of the game, Nexon has added large chunks of content, including this year’s addition of Japanese-themed characters, Kanna and Hayato. The feature-packed content updates and nearly limitless character customization options have contributed to the creation of a faithful fan base where nearly ten percent of the North American gamers playing the game for six years or more. “We have a dedicated and engaged group of players, and we appreciate the loyalty and passion they have for MapleStory,” said Teddy Kim, Nexon America’s producer of MapleStory. “We are committed to continuing to deliver the best content to our players to keep the adventures rolling.” To celebrate its eighth anniversary, MapleStory will host events giving players the opportunity to earn special eighth anniversary celebration boxes dropping from defeated monsters, which include valuable in-game items. Players level 10 and above can collect eighth anniversary coin giveaways every day, while all players can count on hot-days and EXP bonus events throughout the month.

[Preview] Elder Scrolls Online: Crafting in Tamriel Revealed
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 3/19/13 2:29:08 PM
Hi Guys, going to answer as many as I can. We did not see any expamples of the "improving" high level item crafting yet. I am sure we will, but they only showed us a demo of straight forward crafting. They did mention the improvements and we will just have to see how these play out. There are No Gathering skills, it is very much like Elder Scrolls, you find stuff everywhere! Nothing was mentioned about Binding, but that is a GREAT question. High Level Raiders will NOT influence this development team. They are really building a craft system that everyone can use. They want all top gear on an equal playing field. the points that Paul is talking about in the interview were hypotheical. They did not give us exact numbers on points yet. The system allows for players to spend the points how they want. I am sure they said you can Master 2 skills with some points into a 3rd. They want players who play solo for an RPG experience to be able to play a true generalist crafter and make everything up to a certain point. I dont see too many people doing that though. I think I will go Weapon and Enchanting just like I did in Skyrim with maybe Provisioner Brewing or Alchemy as my 3rd. Here are some highlights for me personally: Experimenting with the Additives, so freaking cool that you can actually experiment. The interface is VERY EASY TO USE. The Racial weapons and armor are so freaking awesome! Orc only for me!

Yes you can enhance Raid Drops. Crafting, Dungeon, and 3rd zone loot are all high up there. But everything can be worked on with crafting. I think being a Master is the way to go, but you can spec your points however you want. As Paul says in the interview they have not determined the exact number of points you will get to spend ... yet. |

EverQuest: SOE Announces Player Studio
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 9/06/12 1:12:24 PM
SAN DIEGO - Sept. 6, 2012 - Sony Online Entertainment, LLC (SOE) today announced Player Studio™, a new program that offers players the opportunity to create in-game items that can be sold in the marketplace of their favorite participating online game. The company also announced two new expansions to its long-running, landmark EverQuest® franchise with EverQuest®: Rain of Fear™ and EverQuest® II: Chains of Eternity™. SOE's Player Studio invites players to download sample geometry for actual in-game objects and through the use of third party art tools, learn how to develop, design and personalize items of their own. Players will be encouraged to name and create a description for their item, explain how the item fits into the prospective game's ongoing narrative storyline, and submit it to SOE for review and possible inclusion in the SOE Marketplace. If selected, SOE will share 40 percent of the net amount it receives from the sale of these items with the player that created the item. "For the first time in SOE history, players will be able to build and sell their own items, truly creating a unique, customizable online marketplace within our games," said John Smedley, President, Sony Online Entertainment. "At SOE, we believe everyone is a gamer at heart, and our goal with Player Studio is to provide a platform on which our players can further explore their inner gamer while showcasing their passion for the games they love. We are looking forward to seeing our players' creativity come to life in an entirely new way."
