Star Wars: The Old Republic: Do Weapon Restrictions Bug You?
News Discussion « General Discussion 7/13/11 9:49:32 AM
While I'd appreciate a little more variation in the choise of weaponry, it doesn't really bother me. |

When I saw the trailer for the TERA political system, it really got me excited to try out this game. It all depends on how and when it launches though. SW:TOR is getting closer and trying out that one is a no brainer for me. |

Morrowind is the only TES game I have tried. Played it for 20:ish hours, I wanted to like it but it just felt like a single player EverQuest to me at the time. So instead I logged on to EverQuest and continued adventuring there with my guild, instead of going at it alone in Morrowind. |

True North, EU-based Empire guild.
Guild Recruitment « Star Wars: The Old Republic 6/11/11 11:19:07 AM
Short variant: We are a few RL-friends in Sweden who have been playing MMORPGs together since 2001. Our aim is to create a relaxed atmosphere with no pressure. If you are in a rush to max level and want to get the best gear at once, move on. We are slackers at heart and welcome likeminded fellows to join us. Wall of text variant: HISTORY: VISION: Guild growth shouln't be too fast, and 50:ish unique accounts I see as some kind of breaking point. Bigger than that and the intimacy of the small guild will be lost, smaller that that and you won't have enough people online at any one time to really enjoy yourself. While we don't have a strict age-requirement for our members, people should ideally have moved out of their parents house. Most of the time that brings out a level of maturity that can't be found with years alone. Again, that isn't a strict rule, just a wish how things would be in a perfect world. There won't be any mandatory guild raids nor any kind of DKP system. But I do hope that we can get at least one or two days a week where we huddle up and do some stuff together. Wheter it is some PvP, flashpoints or wiping at raids doesn't really matter. What does matter is getting a sense of community and of course, to have fun. In the interest of communitybuilding I also expect members to visit our guild site a couple times a week for random sillyness and general information. Until we get our own guildsite up and running (if ever?), this site will do just fine. Other than that, the guild tag -True North- should be worn like a badge of honour. Shame it once, and it will take time to regain the trust of the server community. Besides it will affect everyone in guild, not just the culprit. There are also plans to make another guild called "Gone South" for those members wanting to try out the life of a republic traitor scum. RULES:

A bit surprised that noone posted this link yet: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=258996 |

I agree, Vanguard has the best music of all the MMORPGs so far. I'm happy I bought the collectors edition when it was released so I got the soundtrack CD. |

While I understand that "The Old Gods" can make people think about Neil Gaiman's American Gods, it is in my mind a clear reference to the Cthulhu mythos by H.P. Lovecraft. Just a tad more evil that way. *grin* |

So in the end, will you play this game?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 4/13/11 11:47:39 AM
The only thing that will keep me from playing this one, is if they allow players to buy stuff which gives advatages ingame for real money. Otherwise I love to see what Bioware has to offer in this one. |

Originally posted by rhavok Shaman is a class that is reasonably easy to solo with. A healing class that has great buffs along with some debuffs and they at least used to be in great demand for groups. If you have the patience for being really gimp in the beginning while soloing, you might want to try enchanter. Masters of crowdcontrol and they have popular buffs and debuffs. At higher levels their charm spell can really shine. And if you have the manual dexteriry for it, try bard. You will be pushing buttons like there's no tomorrow "twisting" those songs. They can do it all; crowdcontrol, buff, debuff, fear and charm. Once you get the hang of it, you will be a popular guy to have around. But at the risk of sustaining carpal tunnel syndrome. |

EQ2 and Vanguard comes to mind. SOE did a did a huge mistake with EQ2 servers by first deciding not to have any kind of flagging for servers for overseas players. This made the european playercommunity to "hijack" one of the servers as soon as servernames was published. As soon as the game went live, Runnyeye was flooded with mainly european players, so SOE decided to flag this as a "UK-preferred" server. Wich only further increased the population with the european players that weren't in the know of the serverchoise already. So they included a second "UK-preferred server", Splitpaw. But too late, Runnyeye was already way too crowded to run properly. Besides this, there were problems with UI-settings that had to be redone every time you logged in because they weren't saved. Also a lot of unscheduled maintenances were happening, during one of those I got into WOW-Beta and never looked back. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: What's Your (Advanced) Class?

I had decided on a single lightsabre wielding force heavy jedi as soon as I heard of this game, so looks like I'll be a Jedi Wizard. |

I'm one of the players that quit EQ after SOE introduced Station Cash, and will not likely play another SOE game for a very long time. I wouldn't have minded if they were only selling vanity-items. But as soon as you sell items that have an effect in-game, I'm not paying to play anymore. I'm currently playing WoW, and watching their moneygrabbing skills with fluff-items for desperate pet-collectors is actually starting to leave a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. Not sour enough for me to quit, but I wouldn't be surprised if they soon start selling a few heirloom items as well. If that happens, I'll just have to find another MMORPG to call my home yet again. |

Nope, doesn't mean a thing at all. It could come out next year. Then again it could come out in 2011 just as well. We all just have to wait and see. Patience grasshoppers. |

Rumor: Star Wars: The Old Republic to launch in October 2010?

These are not the rumours you are looking for. *waves hand* |

I'm looking forward to trying this game out, and reading things like this makes it all the more exciting. I always get involved with the crafting part of MMORPGs, and this one really seems to have at least that part nailed down. |

Lobo is the man. |

I'll probably start at release, but since the NDA is not dropped yet and I've not been in BETA it's a bit too early to say for sure. |

Short but sweet trailer. And I really hope it isn't going to be free. MMORPGs need a monthly fee to evolve. |
