Like so many other games that are different from the general theme-park MMOs that occupy the majority of the market, Earthrise had a great concept but fell short on implementation... Still, I hate when MMOs die - especially indy ones. Sad to see it go. |

It's the same when I'm on my spaceship: "Fury" (SW spacship): 10" it says in the left corner, yet I'm alone. Just an example. As for mass exodus, most Eu servers seem to have 'standard' load during evnings and personally my server tends to go to 'heavy'. Of course, there is a decline of population however, it's pretty much unavoidable in any MMO after launch. Personally I prefer not to speculate, rather play the game (or don't play the game for those that don't want to) and see what happens. It's like the apocalypse - why worry? I'm sure I'll notice when it hits. |

Servers down..... again.....

Originally posted by Yamota Oh, right, I don't get it, since I'm from Sweden... Which is in Europe... And I'm home from work since I'm ill and actually had a chance to play... For once.. Yeah, sure, I don't get it. And yes, Saturdays downtime sucked immensly, after a week of not playing a single evening due to work I finally had the possability to but were denied it. It sucked. It was frustrating. But guess what? These things happen. And it's not a regular occourance (as opposed to weekly maintenance). Is it frustrating? Yes. Is it part of MMOs? Yes. Do I get the downtime? Yes. Do I get why people are so bloody surprised there is downtime during what is school/work hours for most people in Europe once every week ? No, not really. Especially not since it's Regular Maintenance. It's not something new.
Oh, tip for next time by the way, don't presume to know where a poster is from. |

TOR Founding Member email - What a Joke

I haven't read the thread, nor will I, but seriously - why? I mean why do you care? I really try to figure it out.. I don't get it! Don't you people who complain about this title that is basicly worthless and only pixels above someones head have Anything better to do or complain about? There are surely more pressing issues to discuss!
Sometimes I feel like an alien. I really don't get people. Verbal minority? I hope so.. *shakes head* |

What are people doing at 50?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 1/18/12 9:51:50 AM
Personally I rerolled republic, but that's only because every single person I know RL and who plays the game rerolled Rep on my server. So back to square one. Otherwise I'd probably be doing flashpoints, ops, pvp and quests. Just like in any other MMO. |

First, considering the "I cancelled" threads I think this thread is just as valid. Anyway, as for the questions, I subscribe as does my gf for a multitude of reasons even if the game, of course, can be improved. As for your second question, no. I don't think anyone cares if any of us subscribe or not, just as I think (or would hope, since no sane person would) no one cares about those that cancel. |

If this game was not made by Bioware and not set in Starwars Universe

Originally posted by Sagasaint That would be true if the OP had written "would you play an MMO that was not made by Bioware and not set in the SW universe?", but he wrote This Game. Which is like pointing at, the first LotR movie, and ask "would watch This movie if.." etc. etc. Regardless, does it matter? Not to me at least. Why? The game Is made by Bioware and set in the Star Wars Universe. It is what it is, no more, no less, and if one wants to play or not is up to that specific individual. |

BS that it is. I have 2 level 30's, one level 50 and working my first Rep character up toward 30 as well. I love the game, but this and how BW/EA handled it Is an issue for me. I am quite qualified to determine my own graphics settings depending on my rig, I also do not appriciate a developer taking something they've showcased out o the game without telling me. But I guess I must be a hater too, right? And my gf and friends who think this an issue as well. |

Not the slightest surprised - but happy. :)
During testing, me (and probably quite a few others) were called to interviews where we, among other things, had to state what we wanted/needed to see in the first major update ~the month after release and prioritize the importance of raids vs. warzones vs. flashpoints etc. All in my perticular group agreed on the matter - at least one warzone, updated raid content and another flashpoint would be needed to keep peoples interest. Or somesuch it was anyway. I'm glad to see Bioware exceeding our expectations, and I'm glad that they've seemingly have listened to those they interviewed in different countries. Awesome stuff all in all! |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Bonus Series? Or Troll Series? You Decide!
News Discussion « General Discussion 1/04/12 1:13:55 PM
Ambush? You mean.. as in standing with a quest sign over their head... and the ability to press escape mid-convo? Yes, quite a nefarious ambush that is.... I can dig that you don't like the bonus quests, but doing them is a choice, and quite frankly, if you feel the need to do Every single quest in the game it's on You - not Them. It's your choice as much as the server type you roll on. Did you finish every quest in WoW (if you played that, which I'm guessing you have)? Probably not, I sure didn't... Not to mention that if you Really want to do the quests for the sake of story, there is absolutely Nothing stopping you from going Back there at a later time. The planet doesn't disappear, nor do the quests. That said, my biggest gripe with this article is that This is the problem you bring up? I love SW: TOR, but to be honest there are far worse issues you could focus on than This. I mean really? Nothing about PvP level scaling? Or all armors looking the same? Or bugged skills like Cover or Ravage? Instead you focus on how you are forced to take more quests against your will because You feel the Need to do all quests presented to you on a planet?
Way to help improve the game.... You're seriously messing with my Zen thing, man. *grumbles and goes back to TOR, wondering why he bothers checking MMORPG.com nowadays* |

Loved the Sith Warrior story though the ending at 50 were a bit loose. I guess that's because they want to be able to add content easily later though, so it's alright. All in all, I loved it. It takes a bit of a pause during Act 2, but picks up again a bit in Act 3. The culmination of Act 1 and 3 where awesome. Especially Act 1. Loved it. Probably one of my favourite gaming/story moments ever. Playing Agent now, haven't gotten far, but the story is really really interesting so far and a very nice change from Sith Warrior. Played the Sith Inquisitor story in beta, and loved it as well (as far as I got anyway, Nar Shaddaa or somesuch) and played only a little of the Bounty Hunter story, which seems neat as well.
On republic side I haven't played much tbh. The Counselor story picked up slightly after Coruscant, but far from being my favourite. Trooper seemed alright, didn't get far though, smuggler was really interesting as well and knight seemed quite good though I only watched my gf play that. |

Here's the full passage, not just a selected part of it: "Yesterday was quite a day here in Austin. We likely had the largest one-day subscription account registration process in MMO history – over one million people are now registered players of the game, and the number is growing rapidly." The hint is in the last part of that line. "and the number is growing rapidly." It means it's above it already and continue to rise.

Awesome read and great to find this thread on the morning when my newspaper doesn't arrive. Gave me a good laugh. :) Anyone with a shred of knowledge about TOR knows there IS endgame, which has been mentioned earlier in this thread. If the endgame is the same as WoW/Rift/Etc. is debatable, personally I feel the flashpoints make WoW instances as dull as a heap of dung (though less smelly as it's digital). And no, not bashing WoW. For what it is, it was a great game to plenty of people for a long while. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to log in and sit through a 40min queue and then finally reach level 50. Have fun. :) |

Originally posted by tank017 It is, but not Every item in the game is moddable. There's a good number of them though and most Flashpoint gear is moddable. Personally I love it! It's a great system. Could do with a few more moddable items, but in general, it's as fun as it is effective in keeping the looks you want. |

EA Strikes again with customer service
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/12/11 6:45:47 AM
It's true that it sucks and that those outside the specified countries has to pay the charge.
On the upside, I've read a rumor (that I can neither confirm nor deny ;) ) that you can call for free using skype and setting the country to US and calling the US number, even without credits or whatever on your skype account, since the US number is free of charge within the US.
Of course, this is a work around anyone shouldn't have to try, but it might be worth a shot. ;) |

Which is a great reason to play TOR which I hadn't considered. I'll add that to my list of why I'm going to play the game. Thank you. |

I have a question...is the conflict between the Sith and Republic..
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/12/11 4:59:57 AM
I just woke up and I'm a lazy bastard so I haven't read the whole thread...
I think it'd be awesome, to be honest, but I don't see that happening in a while yet (if at all). And if it does it will probably be more in the lines of WoW's Wintergrasp rather than anything else. "Take control of planet x and get access to quests/flashpoints/operations". It's, of course, just speculation on my part, but I have difficulties seeing it play out any other way - if there'll consequences at all.
It's unfortunate, yes, but it's true for most Themeparks (sadly), and I think it might be tough inventing and releasing a good system other than this from a developer standpoint.
Be that as it may, I'll still be over this game like cream on hot chocolate. |
