I've neem quite far from being an Aion fan... The game just seemed repetative and bland - despite beautiful graphics... but this.... This trailer... if it's happening. I'm there.

I got muted!

Ever considered that your tone and choice of words might've been... i don't know... a bit Rude?

I'm sure you'll say that you "pay for the game" etc etc. but it doesn't mean you can behave any way you like to the staff. If I were they I'd get pissed too, wouldn't you? Perhaps it'd been different if you put it a bit more polite or at the very least differently.

Or... I don't know... Ignore that stuff like the rest of us and use the report function if something really bothers you?

I really think people see this as a much bigger deal than it is.. I myself am playing and I have to say some of the nerfs were really needed.. As another dev stated (sorry, I really can't cba looking up the post, if you're interested I'm sure you can find it on their forums) people having certain powers or powersets took on TWICE the amount of mobs intended and just mowed through the game.

Personally, I agree though, that they - with that huge amount of change - should've given people free respecs, but at the same time I don't feel the changes that much. Regardless, some of them were needed and like ANY game this game will have powers getting nerfed, buffed and looked over a great number of times. Balancing is never done.

I still have a lifetime sub, and I still don't regret it. My only issue with this game is the lag I experience, and I guess that'll be fixed eventually as well.

Sure sure, I agree with that. I'm not going to go out and cut myself because someone killed my character, or even have a good cry if somebody keeps doing it, but there are a lot of younger kids that might do either. Do you think a child is wrong for feeling sad when they are getting killed repeatedly? You may not feel that way because you have matured past it, but that makes it all the more deplorable that you, a reasoning mature adult, would be so uncaring. Stuff just means more when you are a kid, stupid things can seem like the end of the world, and even something as irrelevant as a video game can leave lifelong scars.

You don't care... Unfortunately that is an epidemic nowadays.

Why wouldn't a normal person feel bad about hurting someones feelings just because it's not important to them? It's callous and cruel.

I am by definition a lurker, but sometimes I make a rare post, this is one of them. I'm not going to join the general discussion because I think the OPs arguments and ideas are so stupid they're not even arguing about.

However... During my lurking times I've seen a few posts by you, xal, and sometimes I've agreed, sometimes disagreed and sometimes I've agreed somewhat.

Anyway, this is probably the first post in a long while that I wholeheartidly agree with. I'm glad to see someone here takes this stand - especially in these times, where as you say, not caring is epidemic.

There will be micro-transactions but by the looks of it and according to statement it will be mostly cosmetic (i.e. buy new costume parts) and account based (buy more character slots, perhaps namechange as well etc.)..

Also said is that any item you can MC that has an ingame effect (yet to be defined what this really is - cosmetic or More?) will be possible to earn ingame too..

IIRC.

I managed to get one for me and for my brother, and while some will call me a dumbass and say I'll get "Roped", and some agree with me, I personally can't see myself  regretting this. If nothing else, I gave support and funding to a company that at least Tries to pull off something different from the elves and orcs stuff - and on the plus side, I've really had fun in their game so far.

About the "sold out" issue however, I agree that Cryptic could've handled it A Lot better, and I personally think the only think they should do (but probably won't) is open up and sell the Lifetime sub until sept. 1st.

At the same time though, I can understand that they set an amount and didn't expect it to sell so well... However, they should've been prepared for the "if" they sell that many really fast AND have published more information about just how limited the offer was - not only in time but in purchase as well.

Albeit I doubt this will affect many peoples choice of playing the game or not, it's still a blunder, and they should try to make amends in some way (like opening it up again) because the MMO market is a harsh business. Also, I think it'd give them good PR and Rep if they did this - and it might even make up for the immense patcher errors at the start of Open Beta.

Just my two cent.

Thanks a million! Were having problems with me and my friends preorders and seemed we wouldn't be getting a key despite paying (damn bastards at the local store), so I'm glad we could get these. :) Much appriciated!

A very well written piece.. and interesting.. :)

I don't have time (or energy at this time of night here) to go into details, but I can't say I agree with everything.. Especially the events part, players have a tendency to make do with what they have (AoC is a good example imo.).. ^^

Anyway, thank you for making a Good article about RP..

I definitely got a reaction out of you all. Mind you while I obviously am not a fan of rp servers I may have been a bit over the top. The goal of this is to incite debate not riots. :)

If you want debate and not riots it'd be wise not to insult a whole portion (not the major portion perhaps, but one of the portions (pve, pvp & rp)) in your article. :P

Perhaps you've had bad luck, but from the article you really come off as an asshat. I love the RP, though I dislike those who come in only to mess up the server for the RP:ers - something I've mostly noticed and encountered in AoC - and granted, not all of us RP 100% of our gametime, but we Do RP, and do it A Lot - at leat those I play. Oh, and we do it without the "thou shalt not kill" english. :P

I like it so far.. The PvP is still unbalanced, granted, but in general I think they have made major improvements. Of course, it helps to have a good friendly guild to be in and I have the roleplaying stuff to lean back on if bored with the rest. But I'm glad to be back. :)

Though.. I admit... EU-Aquilonia has some real ***** around... ^^

Rest in peace, and may you find new adventures in whatever lies beyond.

IMHO, WoW is a great game, it is easy to use and opens itself to a wide audience, but it lacks the real challenge factor, playing WoW can get overly boring with it's simplicity. FFXI on the other hand it more like work,

Ain't that the truth... Personally I prefer something in the middle.. Like Pre-CU SWG was..

As for subtle qualities, I'm not sure it's worth the time. It wasn't for me atleast. ^^ But others like it, so it must be decent if nothing else! ^^ It's all a matter of taste after all...

My personal opinion after trying FF XI myself (coming from WoW and other MMOs) was that it.. quite frankly.. was horrible..

Now this is just My opinion, everyone's different, and I'm not out to trash the game.

First, to play the game, you have to install some community thingy software on your computer (can't remember it's name) and I remember it being a pain in my all too pretty behind to set it all up (don't remember why it was sucha pain though).

Well in the game I found the races looking a bit... different... some of them in a good way and some in... a not so good way.. but fair enough, I thought, and moved on.

Loggin in a friend of mine, who I were also with on Ventrilo, contacted me and tried to help me get setup... first off I didn't like the graphics but alright, I can look by that with good gameplay.

The controls however was a nightmare to me, trying to learn I sat out to grind my frist mobs. I felt it was quite boring and frankly that was the one and only time I logged in - since my personal experience was That Bad.

From what I've heard though, many think the game's really good - so I guess they have another experience and opinion. This however is mine.

Good luck in finding "your" game! ^^

Well, I was.. still am somewhat.. looking forward to the release of this game..

However, the lack of news, information and foremost Simu not even changing the release date (even if a proper isn't posted) from 2007 quite makes me wonder. Perhaps they're working so much on their engine, perhaps they're working so much on HJ - I don't know.

What I do know is that I almost feel this is becoming another Darkfall Online, and I'm not so sure this game will be released any longer - even though I hope it will. A few updates, maybe once a month like Most companies do, can make a large difference..  But lately, the only recent news is from early october and then it's about dev applications open (not very promising), and some screens are posted in august 8th - quite some while ago in other words. Not to mention that the newsitem from before that is from May..!

Still it says in the FAQ:

Q. When will Hero's Journey be released?
A. It is slated for a 2007 release. However, play testing will ultimately determine when HJ is ready to go.

though nothing of how playtesting is going or release - be it on scheduale or pushed back - has been mentioned.

I still have what I feel is a somewhat naive hope for this game, since it looks so damn good, but right now the only thing I can think of is a quote or two from Boondock saints, but about the Hero Engine and not a cat.

"I can't believe that just fucking happened!"  - "Is it dead?"

.. Is it?

I'd tell you but then I'd have to kill you..

I admit I'm a bitter skeptical cynic most of the time... But... I can't say I'm very much surprised..

I hardly gloat though.. I think this is indeed terrible news, being a trek fan myself.. I think STO is going down the drain - fast - and it's not something I wish.. guess there's nothing to do though but to refuse to support a substandard game if this is what it turns out to be.

hm.. alot of things I hoped would be ingame weren't... sad really... and this "whole guilds cannot be mercs"-thing is a real let down... Would be good if small guilds could hire themselves out to get a part of the action.. *sigh* Disappointment.. no doubt it'll still be a good game, just not a great game I feel.. :/

Personally I Love Battlefield 2142.. Also I'd like to recommend Planetside though it requires subscription fee.

As for MMOs with fps like battles Chronicles of Spellborn seems to contain this, though in development, and Fury seems to be FPS like as well, or atleat pvp centric. Haven't played or looked into these two though so I may be wrong. :)

Blizzard have officially stated that WoW 2 ain't gonna happen.. Can't find the link though but sure it's in last weeks MMORPG.com news somewhere...

People of Euro-Chimaera... Wherever you are now... I hope you're well. You made the game oh so much more enjoyable - even Tomeg did.. fond memories..

And to all the citizens of Aexon Beach.. I miss you truly. Happiest days of my MMO life were with you and my fondest memories lie with you.

So many people... I miss you all...
