Star Wars: The Old Republic: EA Scores Multi-Game Publishing Rights to Star Wars Titles
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/06/13 5:47:18 PM
Yes, DICE haven't produced anything good... Or anything that sold... They're crap and have no idea what they're doing, right?
If they make Battlefront 3 it'll be awesome. |

General: Outside the Box: New Torment Game Funds in Just 6 Hours
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 3/06/13 5:20:09 PM
Planscape Torment is without a doubt one of the best games I've ever had the pleasure to play. I hope this game will live up to everyones expectations, which will be difficult, but I do believe they can. Regardless, SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY! |

Good for you, op! I enjoyed SW:TOR for what it was and went in with both eyes open and well aware of the product in the beginning. However, as I do not agree to several business decisions EA: Bioware have made since, and disagree with how they've handled several issues, I decided that I did not want to support the game any longer in any way.
Regardless, it's good to hear you enjoy it. At the core there is, in my personal opinion, a good game with good story. |

Destiny: Announcement Video Released
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 2/21/13 12:52:32 AM
I can't help to feel that making it PS4 exclusive will alienate a lot of the market. People that can't afford PS4, people that don't want to play console (or shooters on console) and so on.. If they make it PS4 exclusive, it has to be because Sony paid them a huge amount to do it. An amount that would be larger than the potential PC profits. Bloody typical... |

Game is completely unplayable at high resolutions.

Obviously others have solved this problem and so can you; so why are you whining about it and claiming things that are just plain false? |

I was gonna write a longer post in this thread, and now I realised that OP is either a troll or just not worth wasting the energy on. Especially since he clearly can't admit the error is on his end (set-up, not being able to follow a guide etc.). |

PlanetSide 2: Latest Update Brings Big Changes
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 2/04/13 12:39:25 PM
I can admit the game has its flaws and that there are hackers (even if it's not as bad as people claim - not at all, actually) but performance hasn't been a problem for anyone I've played with. Heck, I even played this on a laptop over shitty hotel wi-fi with no problems.
If you have performance problems with this game, perhaps it is time to upgrade or at least run a good benchmark test to see if there's something wrong or lacking.
Biggest problem with Planetside 2 was the lack of incentive or tools for defending and a bit of balance. Balance of XP is more or less fixed in this latest patch and defenders have gotten more advantages and defending has gotten a lot easier. Balance is of course always something any developers are working on, and while I'm sure it's not perfect I have no issues enjoying myself as infantry.
Are you on the fence? The game is free - download it and try it; don't just listen to me or anyone else - form your own opinion. |

[Editorial] Star Wars: The Old Republic: Give BioWare a Break
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 1/17/13 10:20:47 AM
To be honest, I left SW:TOR with my GF this week, but not because of the SGR debacle. Though I DO find it quite horrible that homo- and/or bisexuals should have to pay to find romance in a game like TOR. How hard would it be to add a few npcs to cantina, that you can chat up or even date? That romance would probably be deeper than what they'll offer now, and certainly more accessible. Regardless, it's important not to confuse Bioware with Bioware. This is a studio with the Bioware 'brand name', yes, but it's not the same studio that made Mass Effect or Dragon Age. That's a very important thing to remember. We have no idea what this studio actually stands for - or their stance on SGR.
Ragardless, to me, this point is just another reason to cancel. I do not wish to support their current way of dealing with the Cartel Market, or with Makeb not adding to the games strong point (story, more specifically class stories), or that we still haven't seen Ilum. Or Cathar. Or a lot of other things they promised and that has been datamined or seemingly complete for a long while but is being held back instead of released.
I love SW:TOR. I do. I think the game, especially when played as a co-op RPG, is awesome. I really loved my characters and their story. I never cared for endgame content, that is true, but I loved leveling my characters - and I still love the game.
Despite that I'm done defending. You say give them a break? I say let loose the dogs of war, and fire every battery we have. |

My tip to enjoy SWTOR more: Treat it like KOTOR
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 1/04/13 1:19:49 PM
I fully agree with the OP. I've been playing it like a co-op SRPG with my gf and been having a blast. Haven't touched endgame so far as it's the same repetative junk as in every other MMO, but up until 50 I'm having a great time with my chars. I admit, though, they DID market the game as an MMO.. Even so it's not very fun to play as an actual MMO. It's too bad, but as a co-op rpg or srpg, the game really shines still. |

so... Fallout 3? or Fallout 3: New Vegas?
General Gaming « General Discussion 12/25/12 2:47:41 PM
To be honest, I do like both, but Vegas has much more of the old 'fallout' feeling than F3 has imo. If I'd recommend one of them, it'd have to be Vegas. Great game tbh. |

I don't like FPS being associated with MMORPG.
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/23/12 5:38:01 AM
Total Buiscuit on the subject of video games being accused to be the cause of violence. It's a good video, tbh. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5uwAo8lcAC4&feature=youtu.be
Anyway, regardless of OPs beliefs, games being accused of causing violence is hardly restricted to FPS. Mass Effect, for example. Star Craft. There's more that's been accused of being the reason for violent behaviour, but those will serve as examples for now.
Of course, it's total idiocy to believe they would, but hey.. people aren't that smart. If the news, even if it's Fox, tell them that it's the case - then it has to be true! Media, to the average Joe, is writing the truth. Why would they print stuff if it isn't correct? Media, however, is of course out to make money. But I digress - my apologies.
Back on topic! MMOs being associated with FPS or not is irrelevant - it's a game. Ergo, people think it's a cause of violence. It doesn't really matter what it's about. Time and time again World of Warcraft have been part of the focus of media when violence ensues (for example, the blasted mass murderer in Norway). They're already after your precious MMO's, OP. Don't fool yourself into thinking otherwise.
EDIT: At that, kids are of course not meant to play violent videogames. When this happen it's the fault of the parents, however. The ESRB ratings are there to prevent this from happening. If you cannot control your child, or you allow your child to play M-rated, or T-rated, games when they are still in their early teens or preteens, you're doing it wrong. |

[Column] Star Wars: The Old Republic: Rise of the Hutt Cartel Expansion Thoughts
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 12/20/12 12:41:34 PM
As it stands now, I'm quite upset and annoyed with Bioware. When I pay my sub, I pay not only for the content produced - or that was produced at release, I pay for future content foremost. I've bought the game and I pay so they can develop new content.
Now why, by Odins wrinkly b*lls, should I have to pay for it again? I understand the sentiment of DLC, and I like DLCs. Just with Skyrim I didn't have to pay a sub in addition! And to be frank, I've gotten about as much for free with both Skyrim and TOR!
To be honest, asking subs to pay extra for this is to spit in our face. I think it's incredibly disrespectful - especially to people who are longterm fans. I've paid sub for a year - the content I've received does not match what I've paid beyond the initial price, but I've supported and paid them anyway. And now? Now they basicly tell us that that dedication is worth nothing.
I've been very supportive of Bioware and TOR before - but this is it. My limit is here. More than anything I'm disappointed though - so much potential, both for the game and for getting customers, wasted.

Confirmation: Makeb will be a common pre-fab storyline for each faction (No class stories)
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/19/12 5:01:48 AM
I really like SW:TOR tbh. One of few that does. I really enjoyed leveling my characters and played the game more as an SRPG than as a MMORPG - which is probably why I liked it. Something I loved, especially, was the story; and I have been defending them game (albeit not much on these forums).
That said. FU EAware. It's bad enough that they give us an 'expansion' that we subbers have to pay for additionally, and that its content at this moment looks lackluster to say the least, but to not even continue with the stories of our characters? One of very few things that this game had going. I see absolutely no reason I should waste money on this - and I won't. And tbh, in the light of this I, for the first time, think I'm done with this game for good. TSW's gameplay isn't as attractive to me, nor their story format, but by Thors hairy butt, it sure as ragnarök seems they take care of their playerbase (lifers excluded, perhaps) - unlike SW:TOR.
Considering this.. I've also lost what little hope I had for Dragon Age III..... Sigh... Ah well... |

Faction weapons in Planetside - did SOE even spend time balancing this game?
General Discussion « PlanetSide 2 12/17/12 2:07:49 AM
I haven't really felt NC to be underpowered (playing Vanu, by the way), as I frequently get massacred by their max units, long range shooting (not snipers), snipers and run over by their tanks. BUT... There must be something wrong as they rarely own more than a quarter of the map. I'd say it, to me, seems fairly balanced though. Doesn't mean it's perfect however. That said, I think, as stated, aimbotters have been a huge problem for them. From what I've experienced on my server (Miller) there were a ton of aimbotters (not so bad now though), mainly on TR. And most of those that weren't on TR were on Vanu. This led to me, even as Vanu, feeling incredibly underpowered in the beginning - until I understood why. :P Not saying this is the reason, obviously something is wrong since I don't want to believe NC players just whine more than others. NC doesn't suck, imo, but it's obvious there is a problem of some sort - and it needs to be fixed. |

Originally posted by Karteli Just wanted to adress this one thing... There actually IS wildlife in the game.. Or well, "wildlife".. Usually quite large creatures. It's just that they act the same way as other mobs (standing still, walking 3 steps left then right etc.) so you never actually pay any real attention to them as it's "just another mob". The size of them, being the same size as mobs, and the fact that there at some part in the game is a "mob version" of them doesn't help either. In short, there IS wildlife - it's just so poorly done that they might've just as well excluded it (imo). |

F2P has ruined SWTOR and Legacy
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 11/19/12 1:27:44 AM
Originally posted by superniceguy Create a new account or delete one of those characters? Problem solved! If you don't want to do that, then it's You who make sure you can't play more content. Very few games that advertise F2P are actually F2P; in SW:TOR's case it's Freemium. Regardless, I'm glad there's restrictions - there should be imo. You might not agree, but hey, that's life. Besides, the company not only wants, but needs to earn money. I agree the quickslot part is a bit silly though. If nothing else, F2P should make RPers happy, considering they can SW RP for free. ^^ |
