No.
If anybody have an extra key i would love one please and thank you.
I think OP might be right tho i see nothing that have the EQ elements in it. They Even Cut out the classic EQ intro music. Not saying that i'm not going to try it out. It kinda looks like SoE is at a fork road and their leaning to the kiddy side for this one. To me EQ seem more like an adult IP. Sure i was a 16 year old kid when i first started playing EQ. But EQN seem to point at the 8 year old crowd. Its also way too early to say its going to suck. Coming from an EQ fan i see nothing good about EQN so far.

The pre-order code you listed goes here: http://preorder.na.finalfantasyxiv.com/

That website will give you another code for early access which you register at the link provided on that page. It is unnecessary, convoluted, but it is Square Enix.

yeah i put the code in already and keep getting error 3 and i never got an email from them for the EA codes.

Insert the preorder code again on the preorder page. If you got the error 3 code, then it didn't go through. You know it went through if you get a success page with your 20 digit code. You can then click the link to input the 20 digit code immediately to register the game.

You must have done this on the 20th when the page wasn't working. I had the same problem.  The page has been working fine since the 21st so just do it again

been at it for almost an hour now

So my wife and i registered the XXXXXX-111-XXXXXX-111 code. we both bought our game from SE. we keep getting Error 3 but we checked out profile and our game is registered. Now we click to lauch the game to download the new content for tomorrow. Now its asking us to enter our 20 digit code but they never send us one. Are we not registered or what? WTF is going on and how do i fix this?

please help and thank you.

all i see is laziness and lies. i won't believe anything SOE or fan say till i see it.

I am not going to play at launch, still too busy with FFXi but i am VERY confident this game is not nearly finished, you can expect a LOT more.

The problem with fast paced push games is you end up at end level and do the same repeating sequences everyday. In a slower game and with sub class, you can switch all over, play one class for awhile and then craft or mine or just join a Hest or Fate.

You can expect a lot more to do and the good thing about sub class games ,is you don't end up with a level 80 ton and have to make an alt to enjoy low level content. You simply switch class to something you have yet to play,it all adds up to more versatility for your player,so your not shelving your main for a new alt every time you want to play something different. Also other games make you alt again every time  you want a new craft.Square just lets you play on forever with the same toon and not have to shelve it for  something else, that is what i like.

Having more detailed creatures adds to the fun as well, just think a form of housing is coming and there will be a lot more various content ideas. In FFXI there is not enough time in a day to do everything i want, especially not all the content, that is what Square does, they give you TOO much to do,this game was rushed so is still a bit behind the finished product.

You know what? For a rushed Product its still more polished than all the MMo's  in NA now. Most MMO here in NA feels only 25% done and pushed out the door. Even if this is only 50% done. Its 50% done with 100% quality and thats a win in my book. I hope other game company learn from this. In the long run its not always about $$. Its all about the quality and with good quality people are more willing to spend $$.

Nice thanks for answering guys. Now we sit and wait uug!! What to do while server is down?

Hey guys. I wanted to play a warrior but i didn't do my research on what class to start first. So i picked the gladiator class as a starter. It turns out that i need to play Both Gladiator to lvl 15  and Marauder to lvl 30 to be a warrior. My main question is do i need to start off as a Marauder to become a Warrior? Been search all over to find the answer but nothing. I was not able to figure this out myself because of the 3201E moster. I was out for almost 28 hours so didn't have time to mess around with the class as much.

But anyways tell me what you think about my issue and what class/job you might be interested in playing.

Thanks for sharing.

If you are getting a Gateway 502 error, it is probably that their servers are overloaded.  They are doing maintenance right now, so probably capacity is low.

yeah i'm getting that message. btw anybody got an extra NA PC  beta key by chance? please PM me one thanks you

What the title said. Can anyone log into their Square Enix account by chance?  Anyone having the same problem or is it just my luck?
Any chance only one can PM me a NA key please thank you.
looks cool can't wait

I laughed when I read the title. Because I agree. I didn't think of Madagascar, but that nailed it.

My 4 year old happens to be watching Madagascar 3 when i was watching preview thats why lol. She was like HEY DAD!! thats Alex! I was like what you talkin about? Then she said look at my TV. I was like wow yeah your right. Then the wife walks by and "said they making a Madagascar MMO now?". So now we're calling EQN The Madagascar MMO lol.

He's not going to be working on EQN, because EQN does not suit his style, and it's NOTHING like EQ1/Vanguard.  He's working on Everquest again, but I can almost guarantee he won't be a part of EQN team.  It's common sense.  EQN is everything Everquest & Vanguard is not.

And please stop hoping EQN will be anything like Everquest, because it's not, nor will it ever be from now until launch.  If the game fails to attract mass market later on, maybe SOE will revamp EQN like they revamped EQ2 initially.

I agree, he is old school style and this appears to be anything but.  They must have offered him a bonus to make those tweets that old school EQ & VG players would absolutely love EQNext

Yeah, I'm not sure if they gave him a bonus, but since they gave him a job to work on his original baby (Everquest), I think it's one of those "I rub your back, you rub mine" thing between him and Smed.  Smed already saved Brad's game (Vanguard) by buying it and spending money into finishing it for 2 years after Sigil went bankrupt.  Then now Smed gave Brad a job so he could get back to work on Everquest and Vanguard again.  I think by now Brad owes Smed, and a tweet from the original Everquest creator is simply a favor given, a PR stunt.  Nothing more.

EQN is simply nothing like Everquest, whether you like EQN or not, everybody should know this by now.  I see zero Vanguard in EQN as well.  Vanguard was an attempt to recreate old school Everquest with modern graphics.  Unfortunately they bit off more than they could chew.  EQN has zero old school element in it.

Yeah brad drugged out and was no where to be seen by the time Sigil went bankrupt. Hope he change his mind and fix up EQN a little cause it looks pretty bad. It looks like a cartoon version of Diablo 3. All AE attacks no heals or tanking class according to the EQN panels.

I see three issues you have. One is the graphics. You either like or don't, simple.

TESO looks and feels completely different then EQN or EQ. On the sliding scale, TESO is way off on its own compared to the other two. If you want a game that caters to a very specific demographic, TESO is the winner. EQ/EQN are open to all.

If you think the above is "grown up" well...I don't know what to say.

Disney or not, I would be embarrassed to put any game pic on my computer at work. I at least attempt to be an adult at work (in my 30s as well). People know I'm a nerd/geek gamer, but I don't go showing it off like it is not considered immature. When coworkers are talking about what their kids did, I don't bring up that I killed a dragon the night before....

Teamwork/Community, nothing is stopping you from these things. Unless EQN removes guilds, chatting, friend lists, etc you can play along with others. I didn't catch the part where they said you would be running around single handedly killing dragons, they actually said the opposite. If you chose to play alone, that's on you.

I'm assuming you played WoW after EQ (2004), but if not, WoW was actually pretty hard. I was in a top end raiding guild and everyone was expected to know their role and not screw up. Plenty of times, 1 person caused the other 39 to die. It wasn't the faceroll that it is today. Team work was needed.

Easymode, again, where is EQN easy mode? Having to actively go out and find dungeons, find quests, find classes and skills, all seems pretty difficult to me. You don't just walk up to the dungeon at 8pm and go inside.

You are making a lot of assumptions founded on a brief preview of EQN. Sort of the whole don't judge a book by its cover deal. Lots more info will be coming out and you may or may not like what you see. Or you'll already be off in TESO land.

But if you think TESO is "harder" then EQN because it looks dark and depression, not much else to say.

If I may be as so bold, and I do humbly apologize for a hint of mild disagreement on the aspect of community... after all, I do wholeheartedly agree with you that we must wait for more information to show itself.

Teamwork/Community curtailment are of genuine concern justified via assumptions drawn based on logical correlations between other games and what little information EverQuest Next has shown willingness to share.  Whilst I realize that these conclusions lack verifiability, I do wish to argue on behalf of experienced MMO veterans who would likely notice patterns that result from specific game dynamics within various MMOs over the years.

I have a genuine concern and fear for it myself.  The proclaimed lack of vertical progression is largely indicative of no difficulty increase.  The proclaimed reduction or removal of the trinity indicates no definitive roles to fill and create a name for yourself.  The public events harken to Guild Wars 2, a game where no one communicates at all.  They stated that they thought players would find death amusing, rather than worrisome, which removes the element of fear and anxiety that caused strangers to congregate for security.  They stated and displayed that combat will be heavily action and motion oriented, meaning that it will be punishing to type in combat - furthering the requirement for headsets and VOIPs.  Due to the heightened number of voice operations, groups will likely consist of pre-formed in-groups that have no interest in welcoming a stranger to their Ventrilo.  With the removed class dynamics that made each one special, individuals no longer have roles in the world to optionally fulfill for social benefit (resurrections, teleportations, corpse summons, invisibility for hated city traversing, wolf pack traveling, etc.) as these abilities will not have a location on an 8 skill skill-bar.  Bare in mind, this is a by-product of speculation - but speculation from someone with a vast amount of experience with MMORPGs.  By vocalizing these concerns and worries, we increase the likelihood of getting some form of acknowledgement from SOE, as they claim that they will be listening to their community for advice and opinions.  Given, I am uncertain if this is the place for it.

Additionally, if I may also point out for those that argue "return to EQ1, it's still running," it is a significantly different game (and for many, EverQuest Next was, as hyped by SOE, a hopeful return to EverQuest before it significantly changed).  Much like the wise individual I quoted pointed out, WoW has changed.  A lot of people, myself especially, adored vanilla and Burning Crusade - but once Wrath released the world changed, to most, for the worse.  Notably, the community changed.  That magical power of cross-server play and player anonymity skyrocketed, resulting in a lack of social contact, an increase in trolling / maladaptive communal behaviors.  Additionally, with the implementation of convenience oriented tools such as the dungeon finder, individuals were no longer required to speak to a single person or even see a single person from levels 11-Max.  There is a reason people do not wish to return to WoW now that it is subjectively "past its prime."  With ease and convenience being at the fore-front, community dwindled and completely died outside of internalized groups of, generally, long term friends.  Similarly, once Luclin arrived, original EverQuesters saw a loss of importance in community as their roles were trivialized by convenience oriented implementations.

If I may also discuss the fear of "easymode," the fear can stem from the gameplay mechanics change that occurred post-Burning Crusade in WoW.  Additionally, it can also stem from the gameplay mechanics of Guild Wars 2 (both are influences that were unfortunately undeniable within the demo and released information).  The combat mechanics displayed at SOE Live showed high levels of AoE oriented attacks, which reduces the viability of crowd control on a detrimental level.  SOE also, according to an individual at their panels, stated that classes will not have taunt or self heals, like Guild Wars 2.  Without heals or crowd control being necessary, and tanking a thing of the past, we, as their consumer community, are left with a high level of worry on how complex combat can truly be.  That is not to say that they have not found a means of adding complexity to things, but it is to say that they have effectively removed all the tools that added complexity to fights in previous games.  Guild Wars 2 did something similar, and is reduced to little more than a face-rolling zerg.  Bare in mind that SOE keeps teeter tottering on whether or not a trinity exists within the game.  They claim it does, but then claim a removal of the tools which make a trinity function (confused much?).  As a result, it is becoming very difficult to assess a means of combat other than the so called "easymode."

Ultimately, you are completely correct, Allein, and we must simply continue waiting for more information.  With what little information SOE has offered has managed to dig an interesting hole from which to speculate upon, and many speculations are coming up very inimical due to the negative by-products of games that have appropriated similar features in the past.  It is really unfortunate that they have not released more information yet to alleviate some of the more justifiably drawn fears.

holy hell you some kinda lawyer lol any ways well written. All those people who said why don't you come back to EQ1 its still there are idots lol. So i agree with you.

have you play EQ from 1999-2004? EQ1 now is a crap fest man lol there is a reason why people leave games kinda like SWG NGE. enough said if you even understand where i'm coming from.

I have seen said several times in this forum that there are a lot of silent people happy with the DisneyQuest game.

This may be true or maybe not. However I can say from my own corner of the world that all my adult friends (in our mid-30s now) That played EQ1 from 1999-2004 consider what was shown is a slap in the face and will be spending our money else where... As far as I am aware I am the only one out of this group that bothers to even read these forums let alone post anything... hell I never post anything here either and am just on here in passing and probably wont be back.

We grew up loving D&D, Forgotten Realms, Dragon Lance, and all the other similar dark and deadly worlds that mastered "suspension of disbelief"... EQ1 was the realization of bringing this into 3D where we could all experience it together again as adults even though we lived in separate parts of the country.

We have been waiting for about eight years for this game to arrive and now we are going to set that aside and look into Elder Scrolls Online seriously.

What made EQ1 was not just the appropriately themed world graphcs, but also the entire system of existence based on team work and comradery with the rest of the community. It was so hard you HAD to find help which required striking up conversations with complete strangers to put together a group, get directions, warnings of what lay ahead, or ask a Cleric if they could rez your groups Cleric so you could get your bodies back out of that deep dungeon... or barter something with a Wizard for a quick ride to the other side of the world so you could make it to a raid or meetup with a new group before they replaced you with someone else... You had to talk to your group members as you moved through a dungeon or else you would never make it to a boss let alone actually beat the boss... unlike most of todays MMOs where people barely talk and just run around bashing everything and pretending the loot was actually something won instead of just another piece of junk to throw in the bags with all the other easy loot.

The sad fact is human nature is such that people want real satisfaction for their achievements, but the masses almost always take the path of least resistance and look for easy mode and even defend easy mode... then get bored after six months and move on looking for it else where... unless forced to really fight, scrape, and claw their way to glory... some of us had parents that made us learn this lesson as kids... some of us learned it from the school of hard knocks called "life without coddling" ... most people today have no clue what it even is because they have never experienced it... not in Life and not in WoW ... so they just do not "get it" why the complainers are complaining.

Every single MMO since EQ1 have not achieved this either because of technical problems or catering to the lazy, weak, very young to get money from them knowing that the hard cores will still pay up (at least for a little while) until they get bored and move on.

Oh and one more thing... there is no way in hell I would be putting any Disney looking screen shots of my character on my computers desktop at work and showing it off to my work buddies (word of mouth marketing) ... that would be embarrassing.

I agree and understand every words 100% i had high hopes for EQN but now it seem i'm just gonna wait for World of Darkness by CPP. Send me message and we should game together. I got a group of friends just like yours who are disappointed as well on aug 2 lol. But yeah its a new Generations of lazy gamers out there thats ruining the MMo these days. They will always support some crap for games and quit in 6 months then cry about it on the forums later. SWTOR ring a bell?
