Cellphone w/monthly bill required to Use Paypal w/RMAH

Originally posted by Charlizzard They aren't trying to protect consumers. They saw how much money was in the secondary market and said hey, why shouldn't we get that? And you can imagine that they will be watching this closely to see if people accept it, so they can push RMAH even further into their other products.
I haven't personally decided if I like the RMAH or not. However, I haven't really thought of any reasons against it.
What about Blizzard making money bothers you so much? Would you rather have the chinese farmers take all the money? The chinese farmers give nothing back, except maybe cheaper items if your one of those people who support that business.
Atleast if Blizzard is making the money they will use it to make more content for their games and to fund new games that tons of people enjoy. I've personally loved every game Blizzard has made and would like to see them going strong.
Additionally, the RMAH only effects those of us who use it. And furthermore, the items you will be selling on the RMAH you will find for free just by playing the game. Its as if someone has given you a money tree, and in return all they ask is a small cut everytime you harvest it.
I think RMAH may have a future in gaming, and thats not necessarily a bad thing. Philosophically we have said time is money. Time is the currency of everything, since time is the only thing we really have, and its very limited. Life is short and therefore time is valuable. Whether you use digital currency or real life currency in the end they're both = to some amount of time that you took to earn it. What we call real or fake is all just an illusion. In the end its just time. So the question is would you like to use the time market, or the time market? Choose the market in which your time is most valuable, and enjoy the game. |

"At the moment, most of the people interested in D3 are interested not for the game itself, but mainly for the prospect of making a few bucks out of their gaming time." I completely disagree. There is no way anyone could possibly know this short of doing some massive polling. I think that if the game sucks, no one will want to play it regardless of whether or not they can make a few extra bucks. I am sure -some- will play for the prospect of making money, but I think the majority want to play it just because they love Diablo. Making a few bucks out of your gaming time is a waste if you aren't enjoying your gaming time. I bet most people won't even be making much money off of the RMAH. |

Originally posted by Fadedbomb I am sorry, I admit I was not clear and made a statement with no explanation. Allow me to share more depth: Hackers getting owned: The fact that blizzard is requiring double authentication (both an authenticator and mobile authenticator) pretty much makes you fool proof against anyone who tries to use a keylog or some scam to get your account info. Even if they did get your info, your authenticators are constantly changing their passcodes making it nearly impossible to get in and steal your items or more importantly, your money if your deeply involved in the cash market.
Chinese farmers getting stomped: Chinese farmers will now not only have to get accounts registered in your region (which is likely not china) they will also have to get a cell phone with a contract and an authenticator just to sell on the RMAH. That means, the RMAH will likely not be plagued with dirt cheap items found by poorly paid and mistreated chinese people. Yes, I am sure you are right, they will still have their 3rd party sites, but I would imagine most people would prefer using the more legitimate market. It is safe, reliable, and hopefully even profitable for those of us who like to "play the market" or others who just want to try to sell some really rare item they don't really need. Why not get an extra buck? As for those who don't plan on using the RMAH, this thread is irrelevant.
I'm not even going to try and argue about why its ok that blizzard gets a small cut of our sales. Just ask ebay, or paypal, or any other real money bidding service why they get to take a cut of the sales. Plus blizz is providing the bnet service for free. At least they will have some income to cover that cost in the long term, and the RMAH is definitely better than turning to 3rd party websites for buying items. |

I'd hardly consider this greed. Rather, I'd consider this as chinese farmers getting pwned, and hackers getting stomped. Worst case scenerio, you won't be able to use the RMAH very much. Big deal, the game does not require the use of real cash. You can get all the same items by playing normal or trading with in-game items.

[POLL] Which MMO has the best end game content?
General Gaming « General Discussion 3/17/12 7:15:51 PM
Definitely WoW. At end-game there is a lot of raid options ranging from 25-mans to 10 mans that you do with your guild. You can do these on normal or heroic modes for extra challenge. In addition to that, if you don't have a lot of time to raid (like me) then they have the new looking for raid tool which lets you experience a dumbed down version of the raids -very quickly- (I get into a raid within a few minutes of queueing). So thats a cool way to experience raids and to gear up for normal/heroic raids that you do with a guild. In addition to raids there are a ton of end-game dungeons that increment in difficulty and reward which will slowly ease you into the newest dungeons that just came in patch 4.3. Another addition to 4.3 is the new Darkmoon faire and Transmorgification which will give you yet another array of goals to shoot for. There is of course the PvP side of things, with tons of BGs to play and also the competitive Arena ladders anyone who is serious about PvP will find plenty of opponents there. If combat isn't your thing, playing the Auction house can be quite entertaining. A fun goal is to start with maybe 1-5 gold and see how much you can make just by buying and reselling on the AH. Also there is usually a group in Goldshire that RP who you can either tease because you don't like RP, or RP becaue you do like RP, or gank because your horde... much opportunity there. Just around the corner is the MoP expansion which will offer pet battles, so in the mean time you can go out and start collecting as many pets as possible. Also for those who like PvP MoP will be offering Dota and murderball styled BGs. In conclusion WoW has a lot to offer at the end game. Many will argue that it is too easy, and to some extent I agree. It is possible to do a lot and attain a lot in WoW in a very short amount a time but for people like me who only have 1-2 hours a night (if even that) it is nice that I can actually make progress. While much of the content is "easy" I would argue that they've done a good job scaling difficulty such that getting the very best of the best stuff isn't quite as easy. For example, to get the best PvP gear you have to be a really good Arena player or to get the best raid gear you have to have a really healthy guild with a lot of good players who can cooperate and work as a team. To get all the pets "You have to be the very best! That no one ever was! Dun dun da dun!" ehm. Anyway you get the point. Anyone who thinks there is nothing to do in the end-game with WoW is probably just burnt out because WoW is all they've had for the past 7 years. Everyone says they want a sandbox with no rails.etc People are just burnt out on this type of MMO, thats all. They want a Minecraft MMO essentially. They want an environment in which they can express themselves to the fullest, with no limitations. And that is totally understandable! But of the currently released MMOs, I think WoW offers the most content. |

The vibe i get from reading these sites...
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 8/04/11 3:10:14 PM
I believe the reason why there is so much negativity against WoW on this site is because everyone who still likes WoW is too busy playing WoW to bother wasting their time posting here. On the other hand, the people who are now bored of WoW, generally don't have anything else to do except frequent this site waiting for the next big news on their next highly anticipated MMO. Furthermore, they want to ensure that their next MMO is truly next gen, and does not resemble the "been there done that" feeling of WoW. I'm sure there are people who are curently playing WoW and still visit this site, but not nearly as many people who are simply bored of WoW or never liked it to begin with. |

Diablo 3: The "Real Money" Auction House
General Gaming « General Discussion 8/01/11 12:19:34 AM
Anyone who decides not to play D3 because of this is basically saying they'd rather have a bunch of tortured chinese prisoners selling them their items.
Whether you like it or not, people are going to spend real money to buy items in D3 just as they did in D2. You all should be happy that Blizzard is now providing a safe way for it to occur thereby eliminating risk of stolen accounts and also reducing the opportunity for abusive slavemasters forcing farmers to work harsh conditions just to provide digital goods. |

You guys are bashing the OP for no reason. What he is saying is completely true. The video wasn't made for high resolution monitors therefore it appears blocky. Its like playing your gameboy color on a 40 inch TV. Enjoy the pixels!!! I have a 24" 1920x1080 monitor as well, and so I see the same thing. The problem is only going to be for the video though, as the game itself supports high resolution. You guys act as if the OP is trolling, but really its you guys who are trolling. Making smart alleck remarks like our "super" rigs can't run AION and whatnot. He is only talking about the quality of the intro video. |
