I remember playing EQ1 with its first default UI. It was mainly first person view, I never had any problems with it. MO with its FPV will bring back some good old memories. Considering its a PvP based game, going FPV is the best way to go. Money lost? So be it, if it means less people whining and complaining, then I'm all for it.

I'm all for changes in the industry, even if some are going back to ideas done previously.  I think this is a whole element many of the newer MMO players have no experience with so although it's not for everyone it could be a welcome change if done right.

I'm just glad someone is trying to break the mold of the "same old, same old" MMO i feel like i have been playing far too long now...

Just for trying something different, I'll give this game a shot, hopefully they can keep me interested for some time.. If not, perhaps its back to generic MMO # 15 for me.

As many have already said I look forward to a deeper storyline and feel of an actual game world to play in aside from what keeps being spawned as some other semi clone of what's currently on the market.

Agree, although I wouldn't go as far as calling him a tard. Gameplay and performance are my top issues coming from Warhammer but Star Wars games have always had some of the best stories and not falling in line with that would be a failure all of its own.

I've played every Star Wars game going in knowing there would be a good backstory and character development involved, I would expect nothing less from this game.

Everquest

ie Ever-crack the first true king (although I never played it)

I started on DAoC and was hooked on MMO's ever since.  Although online gaming started in Blizz RTS games and FPS but MMO seems the natural evolution for great games full of content.

I'd have to say Vanguard.  If only it had been given the time and work that it deserved.  The game is fine now, but it's too little too late.  First impressions are hard to overcome.

Had my 3 earlier and completely forgot about Vanguard.  Like a bad memory wiped from existence I never looked back after that mess of a MMO, hearing it's still alive and fine almost boggles the mind at this point.

Aion turns me off

When game companies start treating beta's like a marketing event it gets easier to forget the real meaning of the word. When the companies have giveaways and contests it stops being a beta and begins being advertisement.

I second that.. and a high five for noticing.

Dont tell me this is a real beta when the game has been released over a year ago in china. ... maybe tests the server stability .. but gameplaywise and engine wise.. no way :). I'm a developer and i know about this things,

I third this no high fives tho ;)

I was overhyped for the War Beta, so went into this one with a whole new outlook on what Beta is and should be.  You get a small piece of the pie (very small in this case)  Same with War although I felt I had a great understanding of the game through Beta which I didn't.  Now I look at these as more bug/performance type tests.  I saw lots in War and many are still there, I see little to no bugs and no performance issues here, hence they have a stable game engine, as long as their servers are decent the game has potential enough to try and see if it interests you.

Love the character models. I hope it is a challenge, created for real gamers and not just for mainstream muppets.

Exactly how I feel, impressed so far but holding judgement for end game impressions.  Not getting all hyped as I did for Warhammer... :(

I'm against RMT done poorly ^_^.  That's correct.  I have no trouble with having the option of purchasing non-performance enhancing items via RMT.  My favourite example would be the silver surfer-type travel graphics you can buy in City of Heroes.  You don't go any faster than anyone else, but man zipping around on a surf-board made of light looks cool lol.

The "norm" I think at this point is hard to define.  Many companies seem to be experimenting with different models of RMT.  Some seem to be trying to find out how much customers will tolerate.

I agree here, and a good example.  I don't want too much fluff though for RMT but implemented in a decent way with something that doesn't completely destroy the game economy or overpower characters and I'm all for it.

yes the federal government is so much more qualified to provide medical for my family.

-not.

The government is for regulation they cannot run these programs more effectively than private companies.  This is not saying people should be denied healthcare because that is the extreme side of the issue, but the government should not take over something that has been working.

US citizens are not denied medical services when they are in dire need.  If they government wants to get more involved in the healthcare issues they should look to offering more preventative means measures and programs, many medical issues when caught early are very inexpensive to resolve.

It's poorly balanced + lack of end game content and it's poorly thought out and executed + the server engine or server version is very poor for RVR/PVP ESP mass RVR/PVP

and this=a lacking community

Touched on my main issues, poor balance, very poor performance even on high end machines, and worst end game for a PvP based game I have ever seen (instanced pqs...)

The community was there in force in the beginning and beta, but slowly through worse performance and bugs has been dropping off.

Your math is fine, but it's a bad business model.

For one, they could never make projected income, especially for each quater...too many vairiables on who will decide to pay or stay at max level and not pay.

For the players it can be tricky too, the casual players could save money if they take their time to reach max level. Additionally, the raiders would save money too later on at max level. Those who like making alts and seeing what each class has to offer, it'll hurt in the wallet.(Good for the companies though).

How many of those (alt makers) can sustain an mmo that NEEDS to provide endgame to satisfy those who rush to max level and want to be kept interested but not paying a dime? I see it as a model with too many unknowns to make viable, unless there's a way for secured income monthly to keep everyone happy.

This is exactly what I was thinking.  It's a wonderful idea from a gamers perspective, but for a business model the financing would be a complete nightmare.

I could see it as a side project and small scale, but on a larger scale no company would finance a game with this type of model.

yeah...this game is soooo boring and generic. I've already uninstalled.

This.

Maybe with more polish or work I can look at it again, but currently been there done that type feel :(

It's comparable to warhammer online, both are lacking when it comes to pve, both are somewhat derivative, and both think that their version of rvr is enough to carry the game.

The enviroments are about as good looking in both the games, the zones are as linear, and you have to use npc teleports to travel between most of them. Classes are a lot more varied and distinct in WAR, but the character models in Aion look a lot better. Which is a good thing, because the looks are about the only meaningful thing you can customize about your character in Aion, They have a thing called stigma, which is a bit like the tactics in warhammer, and that's it, there are no feats.

If you loved warhammer, but thought that it was all ruined by the scenarios, then Aion might be for you. But be aware that you'll have to do a lot more pve grinding before you can partake in any pvp whatsoever.

I agree with most of this except about scenarios.  I think most of the Warhammer refugees like myself will enjoy this game because of performance and poorly thought out end game in Warhammer.  I haven't seen the end game yet in Aion so I can't pass any judgement there but it's hard for me to honestly say it could be worse than Warhammer's.  To be it's just refreshing for a beta to have this much better performance and less noticeable bugs.

I haven't seen anything that hasn't been done before. To me it feels no different than logging into Silkroad online or something like that. I'm not out to knock the game, but the game companies are going to have to do better than this to give WoW a serious challenge. Not that it's a bad game. It just feels and plays like one of the hundreds of F2P games out there to me.

I agree there is nothing new, but I guess coming from Warhammer I'm just happy at the execution of the game and performance.  At this point I believe during beta they have a very solid game for release which I can actually play without major gaps in game performance and enjoy.

Dark & Light - Warhammer - Darkfall

For me personally anyway.

This is exactly the same as mine, but I had the highest hopes for Warhammer of the 3 so my difference if they were in order of letdown would be Warhammer - Dark & Light - Darkfall
