I was finally able to sign up about 10 mins ago.

It was brutal, had to keep refreshing and backpaging to get it to work but eventually got through the scan and application process.

And yes I did say early Q2, and my statement above about being "not far off" still stands, even if we get late Q2, being a late spring early summer release puts it right about where I figured it was in the development cycle.

In my game theory class at the AI in Seattle we actually did a "imaginary timeline" for production of a game and the teacher compared it to the imaginary timeline he made up for TOR.

He had it as a June launch and that was coming from an insiders' knowledge of development cycle times.

I am just glad to say I called it.

I literally in the "release date anticipation thread" on the TOR forums said October for either release or beta (this thread was started in may)  and if it was October for beta then a release in early Q2 10.

Here we are coming on October and the beta announcement hits.

Good to know I was not far off.

Only game I ever buy stuff for is Diablo2.

I start a new character drop like $20 and make certain they have their high lvl set and runed items.

Its a small evil and one I am ok with participating in since Battlenet has the stupid expiration rules on characters I have let several $20-$0 characters expire.

This idea, they very essence of Anakin's fall has been debated to death on the forums;

Using Anakin as an example he never crossed over into another faction, his own faction changed its good/evil alignment and he stayed the course.

The developers have said, to paraphrase the quote. "If you are a good Sith, truly light sided, would you leave your nation, your people to join those who had declared a war of genocide on your people? No you would not, you would try to do good from inside your own order."

Now to flip this to the other side of the coin. If you were truly doing ill for the "greater good" of the Republic, ala Anakin, would you join the "Sith" did he join the Seperatists? No you would not, you would go to extremes on your own end thinking that you were doing best for your people.

Anakin never betrayed and joined the other Army, he just climbed the ranks (by Jedicide) and did what he thought was best though it was evil, from inside the faction he already belonged to.

Well in Aion as with all games for me it is all about the Roleplay.

My character Allora, was 14 when she ascended and its an integral part of her character that she remain childlike in size. You see, past ascension Daeva cease aging. And Allora is rather chafed that she will never be a woman, it is one of the things that rubs her raw, add to that the fact the Elyos slew her father in the Abyss...and well....you have a little girl with a mighty large chip on her shoulder.

My character is not however, as small as you can make them. Looking at adult size, I aimed for about 14-15 year old looks, shorter than an adult but beanpole like as she had just hit a growth spurt. No breasts because she was too young.

Anyways, the point I am trying to drive home is, not everyone who made a shorter character did so for a hit box bonus. And the fact that making yourself small does not minimize your hit box makes it even less an issue in my mind.

I knew this was coming back when we heard SOE was hiring lead developers for a new "Flagship Project".

Hearing SOE and flagship project immediately made me go "Oh they are making EQ3".  Only time and luck will answer as to what it will be.

One statement will I make to give hope to those praying on a AAA Sandbox.

If you don't like said AAA developer then I cannot help you, the fact is a AAA Dev house IS taking on a classless sandbox game.

The Secret World by Funcom will be majorly debuted at PAX here in my half the year hometown of lovely grey Seattle.

I have to add myself to those who both enjoy the Fallout Series of games and were disappointed in this game, something about it was just not enjoyable.

I really wanted it to be as a former SWG vet and fan of Post Apoc settings....

Due to the over ease of play in FO3, I play it heavily modded.

FOOK+FWE MR+CFW, then add RTSettler and Marts Mutant Mod and you have a game that feels more like FO1 &2. Turn off Vats and use Bullet Time instead

Welcome to the Wasteland made the game too tough imho.

Vanilla FO 3 is way to easy.

V-13, also known as Vault 13, or FOOL, short for Fallout Online was to be made by Interplay but due to the license fight with Bethesda, they may lose the rights to make it.

Should this game see the light of day will you be following its development? Will you try to be among the first to follow it? What features would you hope to see in it? What would you not care to see in it?

As a huge FO3 nut, who is making a T51b costume.....I have to wonder if and when we will see this gem of a game. Or even OB:O, Oblivion: Online.

Sandbox, good systems in place, rich worlds waiting to be populated by players.....

Alexis

*smiles*

Love this system and cannot wait to climb the ranks myself. Good to see a game con promote competative pvpve in this way. Looking forward to human run raid bosses ^_^ that will be good times.

For those of us who have pre-ordered, that 48 hours advance will really give us an edge to already be crafting by the time the shelf buyers get in.

Looking forward to this...really looking forward to this.

I chose cleric, but to be honest I will be going with 3 characters, one in our guild, two in the alt guild.

Allora will be in Symphony of Storms, she will be an Asmo cleric

Aryalla will be in the alt guild, and will be a Asmo chanter

and I will also play a tank alt, probably Glad since I have one in beta and like it well enough.

Well ladies and gents, I am caving, I cannot wait any longer and am going to give Tasos a piece of my wallet and give it a try.

The noob videos really made the game appealing in a "it's not the standard mmo" sort of way and I think I want to try it for myself.

So, without further ado,

My name is Alexis, I am vociferous, female, and enjoy long chats on vent, murdering "innocent" flagged individuals and general mayhem, I am seeking a guild that is mature, enjoys a bit of character in their players, and knows how to deal with "omg a gurl is on our vent!?!?!"

I am generally an anti pk, as opposed to a pk, and I am seeking the same in a guild.

Race really doesn't matter too terribly much to me, though I lean towards the darker races, such as orcs and wolfy individuals who should be able to run on 4 legs *coughs Tasos* *cracks whip* *coughs*.

I look forward to seeing which something wicked my way comes.

My three favorite crafting systems to date have been...

#1- SWG, Pre-CU/NGE crafting was probably my favorite crafting system.

#2- EQ2 Pre-Dumb Down Crafting, yes I loved sub comps, I loved interdependence, I am one of those "Queens of the server" who was dethroned by the ease change. Though I was not a gouger and was the one to break them by mass producing at reasonable rates. R.I.P Eliona Felloak of Neriak, Woodworker Extraordinaire and partner of Trokin the Armorer.

#3- Vanguard, though coming close to the old EQ2 and SWG systems in it's complextiy and viability it is undersupported in the game, along with everything else in the game, thus ranking it third.

I play each game I play for a different reason, a different part of my social interactions. Since leaving VG, and EQ2 before it....I just haven't found a game to fit my inner crafter.

The only games on the horizon that is supposed to have a crafting system for me to enjoy, are Mortal Online, which I am playing for my sandbox UO fix...of course only if it launches as planned, and in the future. The Secret World:Cry Gaia, in which they say all good items will be craftable and all sandbox playstyles will be catered to.

Sadly none of the Themepark games I am looking forward to have crafting quite like I seek. Aion has decent crafting that can craft decent end game gear, and TOR will likely have an enhanced version of KoToR 2's crafting system, something dynamic and heroic and non grindy. Neither of which are likely to fulfill my craft heavy gaming needs, but that is fine, I can be patient.

In the future a game without horrendous graphics and gameplay might arise with great crafting, but for now, crafting in me lives in nostalgia land.

There is actually only one prognostion method for this issue. Time.

Other than that there is no way to know if we gambled and pissed it up a wall or gambled and won. It is called a gamble (investing in a product from any hole in the wall company is a gamble itself) for a reason.

Actually Khameleon, I did watch Darkfall pre release. I watched it for 7 years as it passed in and out of vapourware status.

And when it came time to launch I could tell, and feel that it was not what I wanted, so on launch day I did not camp their site.

Mortal Online however did tantalize me and so I made the gamble/investment and gave it a go. If I lose $98 it will not be the end of the world. I have lost more on less. Such is the nature of investments and gambles.

Oh and this is not the first MMO I have bought pre-release, just the first I have gone so out of my way to obtain. And SV has been naught but up front with us on things like the status of the game. And last night though their store had orders they stayed up exceedingly late for their timezone to get it in order. Star Vault has already proven to be more "on it" and their crap "more together" than Tasos and Adv.

Well Aion for me has been a breath of fresh air in a room of foul, bad game stench. I have my qualms with it like everyone else. But mine, like yours are not game breakers. And indeed many of them are rectified in the 1.1-1.5 patch notes.

But here goes.

1. The game is not out yet, this coupled with the knowledge that many an Asian are enjoying it, reminds of my dearly departed Hellgate London, which is also currently being enjoyed in Asia, and which I, a UK gamer currently in the US for school am unable to play. This is of course minor since I am betaing the localization.

2. Eye color unchangeable currently in beta, leaves me all too often able to "almost" create the character I want. Rectified in a patch.

3. Some quests in beta were nigh impossible to finish due to in faction gankers camping the quest NPC, I speak particularly of the "I want Power" Asmodae quest in PAndemonium that makes you go into the arena. There were like 10 lvl 20 characters camping the NPC slaughtering lvl 10-12s doing the quest. This is more likely to be fixed at launch with the adding of the pvp minigames and such.

That pretty much sums up my tiny issues list.

To answer your last one, post 17 you will need to group for a good majority of major quests.

This is the first time I have paid more than $80 for a CE, this is the first time I have camped a site for 9 hour+ to get a game pre-launch.

This is the first time I have paid nearly $100 for a beta game...and you know what.

I am damned happy I got my LE. Damned happy I gave my $98 USD. And damn eager for Monday to roll around.

Heads will roll,
