General: Five Things to Love About Playing Solo
News Discussion « General Discussion 9/15/11 6:09:51 AM
Originally posted by Unlight I agree. I tend to do all these at one time or another and when in a team it always moves to fast for me. I don't have time to do them. I can also relate to the loot though. In an instance I am fine sharing but out questing I am a pack rat and pick up everything. That's when I don't want to share. The reason I like MMOs is the social aspect of it. I like joining a guild as soon as possible. I like talking to people in guild chat. I do tend to get focused on questing at times and get quiet but I like to know that other people are around. |

Champions Online: Perfect World Snaps Up Cryptic Studios
News Discussion « General Discussion 5/31/11 7:20:47 AM
I always knew that PWE was making a butt load of money off of their cash shops. I like their games. Some are a bit grindy but they are fun too. I love that they offer character customization by fashion and that is where they probably make most of their money. Good for them. |

From a female perspective...I love EQII and keep coming back to it over and over. Even after 2 years. I have an old lifetime account and also the new f2p account. I like what they have done in the newer version. EQII has a lot to keep me interested for all these years I have been playing. It gives you everything you need in a MMO. I actually like it better than WoW, which I also play with a 25 year membership, and have gone back to it after a 2 year rest. I have fun with both. The crafting in both you can do your craft without relying on another player, where in LOTR you need another player for your materials to craft which I did not like. Now LOTR I have a hard time sticking with that one. I played before for months but got so bored I left. I tried it again when it went f2p but still could not stay. The quests are good but it just seems like it takes forever to get from one place to another and travel is what I dislike the most in games. I want to play not spend 20 mins trying to get to my quest area. For something really different you could both try Champions. It just went f2p and the character creation is like Barbie dress-up lol. I have fun playing that one too. Hope you can find something that you both enjoy. My hubby plays Wow with me but not the others. It is much better when you play together. |

All Points Bulletin: What Went Wrong With APB
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/20/10 7:16:54 AM
I pretty much solo in every game, only because my play style is kind of slow moving. I get side tracked a lot. I loved the character customization but was awful at the fighting. I had a lot of fun being a designer but had to do the quests with fighting to get money to do my craft. There needed to be a way to make more money for a mamby pamby like me who sucks at any PvP. I guess it's just being a mom I do not like killing other people only saving them. I did not last long in the betas of this one and moved on but it looked like it would be good for others. I am sad to see it go. |

I have been waiting for this. The CB was really fun and I love it. I like playing something that puts a smile on your face when you play. We are looking for entertainment aren't we? It's a cute design and I will be playing. |

I agree with all. I test a lot of betas and always try to report any bugs if there are some (lots of games are pretty polished by closed beta now) or add my suggestions on what I like to see in a game. I am an Alt-oholic so I try all the classes and never really get very high level in a beta which is good and bad. I get the feel of the game but never see the end game. Mostly because I do suffer from burnout easy. I am unemployed atm so I have all day to play and it is very true that you can burn out on MMOs. But even more so on a beta that when you get into open beta I have a hard time playing the characters and content all over again. At least the F2P ones do not wipe your open beta characters, so I try to wait and only get into the Open Betas on those. There really isn't any way to know for sure if you will stick with a game until after you buy it and play. I have only found a few that I have stuck with for years and the others are just wasted money. F2P games are looking better and better now that I am looking for a job. I quit LoTR after a few months because it moved sooo slow. Now that it will be F2P I think I will try it again. That way when I get bored I can move to the next game and come back later without any money out of my pocket. |

World of Warcraft: Blizzard Backs Away from RealID Forum Policy
News Discussion « General Discussion 7/11/10 7:55:21 AM
I love that they listed to us and are not going to use real names, however I am concerned over the Rating system. I made a post about a bug (that had apparently been posted several times) on a different game forum and got a reply by a moderator that was very rude. I posted that he should work on his customer service to a potential paying customer and he rated me a -10 for criticizing him and totally messed up my forum access. Could not read or reply to any posts. I am afraid of how much power they will be giving and to what type of people. |

Originally posted by legionof1 I am sorry you had a bad experience with this game. I am finding it fun and enjoying. The 30 day ban it pretty good for bad language. In the gaming world that is a long time. I do not believe it was a banning offense. Now if he followed her around and continually harassed her then that would be different. You only mentioned one incident. It is not completely up to the game to protect underage children. It is up to the parents to monitor a game and decide if it is acceptable for their 13 year old to play. I believe 13 is to young to let kids get into online games. We let our son play at that age and now that I am in the gaming world I wish we had waited longer. You will always encounter jerks with bad language. It can not be helped and comes with gaming. It takes the proper maturity to deal with it and move on to enjoy the game or just find another one. There are hundreds of fun games available. Keep looking for one that matches you. |

General: Community Spotlight: Girls in MMOs
News Discussion « General Discussion 4/30/10 7:35:42 AM
I am a 52 year old female who has been playing online games for years now and plan on playing long into my retirement years. My son, now 21 was the one that got me hooked on gaming. I play them all but look for ones that have good quests and fun crafting. When the quests run out that is usually when I move on. I have played SWG, WoW, LoTR, CoH/CoV with long term subs and many many of the cute freebie ones. I love testing them all. We are everywhere but it is true it is hard to find us with so many guys playing female characters. What I love to see like in Aion, EQ or WoW is there are just as many of you guys standing right there by the crafting station as us girls. Not everyone loves the blood and guts in a game all the time. We like to have variety and that is what keeps people in your game. |

HI, my name is Joe.. and I'm a game hopper
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/03/10 6:01:15 AM
Not sure what it is in my case. I tend to play multiple characters to around lvl 20-30 then move on. The problem is I just can't find one that keeps my attention for any long peroid of time. I have only made it to top levels in a handful of games. I need help! |

Allods Online: Item Mall Opened, Prices Stir Uproar
News Discussion « General Discussion 2/22/10 9:37:21 AM
I will stick around and see what they do. I would spend $15-$20 or even more if the cash shop items where something permenant. $2 for a bag would be fine but not $20. Seems they are listening and they do have potential for a great game. |

Doesn't look like a game for me. Have you seen the MMORPG poll below? Which is more important in an MMO, PvE or PvP? PvP - 5.7% Most people do not want full pvp. It will just be a bunch of kids leveling up quickly so they can go and gank all the lower levels trying to level up. And player run economy? These same kids that know nothing about economy or what something is worth will be setting the pricing for everything. I will be avoiding this game. |

I will have to check this out. I did think it was pretty hard, however I did not whine about it, I just stopped playing. I suck at Space battle though, so I just thought it was me. I would hold both mouse buttons down while turning constantly, trying to keep up with my target while I spammed my 2 for torpedo, 5 that I placed Shield on and space bar trying to hit the target. Hit my officers buttons when they light up and back to turning. It was constant and wore me out. If there was a better way than that I did not find it. It was the only way to stay alive. I had to constantly spam my shields button or did so quick I was always heading back to the battle. It was always worse when others did not join in the same instance you were in. This game was not meant for soloing. I think it did not hurt to be a little easier but not what you are describing. I would of been happier if I had just got more drops of upgraded equipment that made me feel like I could compete. |

Dungeons & Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited: Best F2P MMO of 2009
News Discussion « General Discussion 1/08/10 6:12:29 AM
MMORPG is loosing all credibility with me now. First they choose Aion as best new game and now this. I guess the publisher with the deepest pockets gets points on this site and not really the game. |

Alganon: "The Dawning" Update Announced!
News Discussion « General Discussion 1/05/10 6:29:44 AM
I really like the game. I haven't played WoW for over a year and this is comfortable and fun. There are parts of it that are really really close to other games. I think they tried to take the best part of everyone's favorite games and put it into one place. They have a ways to go but after all the instances, new content, classes etc. get added, this will be a excellant game. |

Hey look that car looks like a Ford, no wait its a Chevy. Sooner or later they all look alike. What makes this one different is its got new content you have not played before. It has new ideas blended together. A Study system that works when you are not online. It has different crafting techniques than the said game does not have. Also.... Game Masters, Developers and even the President/Ceo of the company comes online to say hi and check in on us. They read and listen to our suggestions. The game belongs to the players. It may look like the other game but that is what makes it comfortable to get started in and enjoy playing right away. Try it, if you like it stay and play, if not, leave and find another game. Don't keep bashing on it because you can not find a game YOU like. There are many of us enjoying playing this game and would love to invite others to try it out. |

I read where even Hello Kitty has some monster-filled danger zones to explore they say but if they are dangerous then I am sure you have to attack them. |
