Guerrilla Metaphysics: Phenomenology and the Carpentry of Things
The current fashions in both mechanistic and fantasy gaming are staunchly anti-metaphysical. There is supposedly no way to talk about the gaming world itself — the gamer is confined to antiseptic discussions of objects, language, or of other modes of human access to the gaming world. We should not aim to reconcile these tensions, but instead, free metaphysics from its anthropocentric residues and reclaim it on behalf of a direct contact with all nonhuman entities. This is the main objective of an object-oriented gaming philosophy which should be comprehensively laid out and pursued step by step. As a "carnal phenomenologist" and a "guerilla carpenter" we will find the pinpoint immediately beyond that acute sense of gaming nothingness. Imagine a novel written by Alain Robbe-Grillet |

oh yeah well, yet another imaginative leap and a take on the distinction between the two warring factions.
Based on considerable sociological insight, drawn from Max Weber, it is fair to say that Rift is mirroring a modernist versus anti modernist sentiment in its distinction between Guardians and Defiants. Guardians are the Taliban (faith in Vigil, religosity and blind belief, oh and no televisions) and Defiant are the modernist, NATO alliance (American, Europe and bits of Canada, but not those really freezing cold bits up near Nova Scotia ...brrrrr .. those bits prolly really belong to Russia anyway) ..... |

it is a distinct possibility that MMOs might be used to help the American military machine, the army training schedules and preparation for overseas military tactics - that is .... |

Is it true Koreans are the best PvP Gamers?
/enuf said, but I came across this post discussing Korean gamers.

Or perhaps it is simply down to APM. The truth is Koreans have higher levels of APM "Professional e-athletes in South Korea have APM in the range of excess of 200 and often exceed 300, sometimes exceeding the 400 mark during intense battle sequences. Notable gamers with 400+ APM include Kim Taek-Yong and Lee Jae-Dong. Park Sung-Joon is noted for the record APM of 818"

I have to add, Rift is AWESOME, I have played 3 beta testers now, and it is the most polished, compelling and enjoyable game I have played since DAoC. The class (soul) combinations are unique and make for very distinctive game play. It also looks very likely that there will be OPEN PvP style endgame (think of DAoC New Frontiers) in Port Scion. The game play is smooth and engaging with great graphics and visuals. If they get the endgame right Rift is going to knock the socks of all other MMOs out there, possibly until Secret Worlds is released (with its unique 3 Faction Open PvP) If people don't have the system requirements that is really unfortunate because they are missing out on the best MMO release for a decade. Rift will be the game of the decade. |
