Go back to level 1's. No, seriously. You screwed up, flew what you couldn't afford to lose, and now you have to grind your way back up.

The good news is that you don't really need a Hurricane for level 2's. Just get yourself a regular cruiser or destroyer and you should be fine.

 He's jsut venting, he actually is what a lot of 3.5e people are feeling.  Cryptic totally destroyed the D&D feel to the game.  Sure it's FR, has the class names, names of the powers but thats bout it.  The feel is totally gone and feels like a gimmick MMO.  It's an insult to call this game D&D.

Exactly. Cleric was always my class in D&D, since 2.0 (AD&D). Seeing it treated this way is just heartbreaking. I mean come on, you don't even choose an alignment in this game.

It has about as much in common with D&D as the D&D movie did, but at least the movie can be fun to watch (Jeremy Irons is a laugh riot). The game is more like the sequel; so bad it can't even be enjoyed in an ironic fashion.

Edit: I take that last part back (somewhat). IF (and it's a big IF) you can just put out of your mind that this is supposed to be D&D, the game isn't horrible. It's still not very good, but I've played worse gameplay-wise. The story is still based on all the 4E bullshit and sucks though.

I just found it funny that I was playing a CLERIC, yet didn't have a Cure Light / Minor Wounds spell to cast in order to stabilize him... But I have HOLY LAZORZ!! PEW PEW PEW!!! AND MICHAEL BAYSPLOSIONS!!! KABOOM!!!

Oh, and the god you choose to worship is 'for flavor only' and makes no difference for a class which gets it's power FROM THE GOD IT WORSHIPS...

It's the same thing these days, but the fans want people to believe it isn't. Unless it's a game they don't like, then that game has 'launched', and isn't 'open beta'.

So really it depends if you like the game or not which one it is.

Don't care. When the site owner / founder apologizes for calling everyone who uses an ad blocker thieves, maybe then I'll start giving a damn. When the site decides to actually listen to the complaints of folks who find certain ads offensive & inappropriate (I don't mind them, but can see why people would), then I'll start giving a damn. When the site actually gives a shit that it's moderators either make up new rules on the fly, or conveniently 'reinterpret' existing ones to punish people for saying something against an advertiser or a game they personally like, then I'll start giving a damn.

Just when you think the PS2 graphics, mostly horrid voice acting, kiddie aesthetics, boring gameplay, uninspired powers, and absurd pricing model couldn't possibly fill this game with any more liquid failure, Gazillion manages to shove in another couple gallons.

Edit: Lego Marvel Super Heroes, if it follows suit with the other LEGO games, will be a hundred times better than this turd. Plus it'll cost less than 1/3rd of the price!

Sold twice as many copies in it's first two weeks than D2 ever sold. More concurrent logins now than D2 ever had by a wide margin. If that's failure I can't imagine what the standard for success would be.

Like someone already said, it has not even kept HALF of the people who bought it, that to me, is pretty sad. D2 is still strong as hell even to this day. And like the person already said, I'm betting in it's prime, it kicked the sh** out of D3. Heck, I'm guessing if you asked a true hard diablo fan what game they would choose, you'd be surprised at how many would choose D2. To me, that is saying plenty. :)

Oh look, someone else who likes to pull made-up statistics out of their ass. And on these forums, of all places! Imagine that...

I'm thoroughly enjoying this, because the FACT that D3 was / is hugely successful just kills you inside, doesn't it?

Yet millions of people have played, and continue to play, the game before major changes in the loot drops. The auction house has always been completely optional.

Do you have any actual raw data to back this up, or are you just (unsurprisingly) pulling numbers out of your ass? Because I most certainly can do that as well.

And no, simply saying, "I'm betting that",  doesn't qualify the statment or figures succeeding it as valid data, sorry.

Until you start bad-mouthing Path of Exile for being online only, that part is a complete non-issue. It's a ridiculous double standard.

You realize that the loot drop rates are actually fine, right? God forbid you actually have to, oh I don't know, GRIND for loot upgrades in an ARPG. You know, the same way we did in Diablo 1 and 2, Dungeon Siege 1 and 2, Nox, Torchlight 1 and 2, and pretty much every ARPG ever made.  Baal runs anyone?

You strike me as the type of person who would go buy the absolute best gear possible on the AH, grind for an hour, then go to the forums and complain that you couldn't find upgrades.

Oh BTW PoE's endgame consists of GRINDING FOR LOOT. But I guess in that game it's once again perfectly acceptable, right?

Disclaimer: Not bashing PoE. I enjoy it and D3 a great deal, for different reasons. I use it only as an example of the idiotic & hypocritical double standards applied to Blizzard & Diablo.

I think that this game will be awesome for the next LAN party that me and some friends are having after this summer. been playing through Beta and I have had lots of fun with it. I never expected it to have skill trees like PoE. I think sometimes people just skyrocket their hopes.

Or maybe some people actually expect and hope for something better than just "average." Actually, I wouldn't even call this game average... I'm super psyched though that this game panders to those who have no expectations *cough~cough*

 

The point is the people like me who were hoping for a true Marvel MMO are quite disappointed by a game that looks like it was pieced together as fast as possible to cash in on the Marvel IP.

If I remember correctly the game has been in developement for 5 or 6 years, that is anything but quick.

Secondly again you have your own 'vision' or 'idea' of what a Marvel MMO should be yet you refuse to listen to the goal of the developers.  Your responses are emotionally charged and not objective based on what the developement team has said and done.  Your opinions on the game are fine but they are illogical, stop insulting people that actually listened to the development team and enjoy the type of game Marvel Heroes is.

Aliens: Colonial Marines was in development for 7 years, and I think we all know how that turned out. A long time in development =/= any sort of thought or care in its design. And Marvel Heroes shows none of either. The combat is as basic as can be, the skill trees are boring, the graphics are sub-par, the animations are horrid, the voiceovers are so wrong as to be insulting (protip: Dr. Doom IS NOT A ROBOT), and the pricing model shows less sense than most of those in asian grinders.

This game was thrown together in about a year as a quick cash in on the Marvel name, nothing more. It is by far the worst ARPG ever made. EVER. Any other ARPG which has been or ever will be created, in any discovered or undiscovered universes and / or dimensions, would be a better choice to spend $200 on than this game. It is a complete and utter piece of trash.

Yes, you can play as Iron Man variant #23091. A brave superhero who has taken down the likes of Whiplash, Iron Monger, Crimson Dynamo, The Mandarin, Dr. Doom, Ultron, Fin Fang Foom, and MODOK... yet somehow 3 muggers on the street armed with common, everyday Uzis pose a freaking threat. Oh, and all you can do is fire energy blasts. It's not like Iron Man has ever demonstrated the ability to fly, or super strength, or computer systems hacking, or anything silly like that. Nope, just energy blasts & force fields!

A level 1 character in pretty much every single ARPG ever made feels more powerful than a level 30 one in this supposed 'superhero' game. The game is a complete fucking joke.

 

Yes, it's the better version because it doesn't include the completely OPTIONAL  auction house...

Never seen Fringe. However, I don't see why everyone thinks the reveal of Comstock = alternate universe Booker was such a twist. I wasn't even halfway finished with the game before I figured it out. Furthermore, the ending didn't make much sense. I think they tried too hard to be 'deep', and ended up writing themselves into a corner.

Still a fantastic game though, and the Songbird statue was well worth the extra cash. Hopefully the DLC will expand upon the story, and the ending, a bit more.

Seriously, constant respeccing is a rather new feature in RPGs/MMOs but now people feel entitled to them. If you can't afford $5 Cryptic probably isn't too concerned about losing you anyways. The rest of us will have fun and respec when we need too/want too.

 I totally agree keep the $5.00 respec like that. Heck increase the price! People shouldn't get this kind of thing for cheap. It's their fault for messing up their character(s) to begin with and it's their fault in assuming that they'll get to respec at free will.

You of course realize that skill potency (and by extension, build effectiveness) are in a constant state of flux in games like these, yes? It's hardly the player's fault if a pivotal ability gets nerfed. And before you say something stupid like, "Well, the player should've known the skill  was OP and not have used it!", I will point out the fact that plenty of skills / abilities receive unwarranted nerfs on a constant basis. Just ask WoW's shamans...

Furthermore, limited access to respecs does in fact, limit experimentation for people who don't have time to reroll their character and play through the exact same content 5 or 6 times (which is usually incredibly tedious) just because a skill didn't work as described, or was bugged, or was changed by a clueless dev. If you played Diablo 2 as anything other than an extremely 'hardcore'  player, you used a cookie cutter build, end of story.

I'll end by saying that people also shouldn't have to obsess over every single skill / attribute point to avoid screwing up their character. Having to go on forums or websites to research every single skill / attribute decision is tedious, impractical, discourages outside-the-box thinking, and just plain not fun for a good number of people. Games are supposed to be fun, not work.

In short, respecs should be available for a sufficient amount of in-game currency. They're a matter of basic functionality these days, and should be treated as such.

I played this game for two hours, then wiped it off my hard drive. It's absolutely atrocious. The environments are bland & sterile, the animations are dreadful, the combat is uninspired and boring... this game does nothing right. I've played just about every ARPG out there and this is by far the worst. By far. It's not even close. Even being able to create your own hero wouldn't have saved this absolute mess of a game.

I haven't felt this badly about anything comic-related since Spider-Man made a deal with Mephisto. Perhaps David Brevik should've followed suit, then maybe he'd have created something worth playing.

Sure, we've changed the game significantly at its foundation several times. But each time was necessary. There is not successful blueprint of how to make a PvE MMOFPS. There was nothing to copy, nothing to emulate. When I worked on WoW, we had Everquest to emulate.

We tried levels, tiers and now resource based progression. Levels was copied from MMOs, but it didn't feel right for a shooter and people were voting by quitting early and not playing as much. When we switched to tiers, retention shot way up, but it still had fundamental broken issues that were highlighted by the community. When we switched to resource based progression, and the new crafting system, we had an interesting result. The bad part was that it alienated half our users as much as it entertained the other half. The good news was that metrics were up everywhere...people are playing for longer and are more engaged than ever before. But we don't make these chnages on a whim. Had we shipped with the original leveling system, the game would have been a disaster. Thankfullly, since we develop features with our community, we discovered the problem early on. We share features early, before the last 10% where 90% of the work is, so that we *can* make these changes without throwing away a ton of work, or become so invested in a system that we refuse to change it.

Our process has been a new one for all of us, devs and community. But we can measure its success and improvements each step, while avoiding some bad systems that got put to rest early...all thanks to community driven development.

You realize the reason people stopped playing was because there was nothing to do (other than grind thumper groups), right? Not because of problems with core mechanics. You're designing content for 10 levels, then wondering why people don't stick around to reach level 50.

You people change core mechanics like most people change underwear, and it's going to cost you in the end. I for one have absolutely no confidence left in Red5. And that's a shame.

When your show has worse actors, story, and special effects than the concurrently running season of Power Rangers, you just need to give up.

Not that I dislike Power Rangers; I've enjoyed Megaforce so far. Stupid mid-season hiatus...
