Dofus is probably the most underrated mmo out there, and rarely mentioned here. It is much more popular in Europe. It playes like the classic phantasy star or final fantasy games (turn based), there are 12 classes to choose from. The world is pretty sizeable. I was in your exact spot a few months back and I play it now with my girlfriend. It is also very casual imo yet addictive enough. You can download it off of dofus.com. It is F2P up until a certain point where you then need to subscribe to leave the main zone.
P.S. it is also playable on mac. |

Thank you for the comments, I'd say we'd play WOW because I have other friends that play that. However, she doesn't like the stigma of WOW and neither do I though I'm willing to try it. It has kept me away for that long. |

Ya that's one of those games you'd have to download bootcamp for. Ugh. Why couldn't she have a PC like a normal person. |

Is that for mac? Also does F2P=cheaters rampant? |

Anyone ever play Dofus? Combat seems kind of boring to me. I never really done turn based. Is it fun atleast? |

Thank you for the quick responses. I'll check out wurm. I wasn't thinking of anything so large scale like wow or warhammer, but something I can like download off the internet and play. Unless the majority of those cannot be played on the mac either. |

It doesn't have to be a mainstream title or even an mmorph for that matter. I would prefer it to have RPG elements, like something you would see with pokemon or something. Monthly subscription is optional. PVP optional. Farming I would like it to have. Grinding? A little I wouldn't mind. The only trick is that she has a mac book and it would have to be able to play on that. I was thinking something you could buy a card for and then download it. Any names you could give me that I could check out would be awesome. Thank you. |

General Discussion « Aion 12/18/09 6:39:20 PM
So I just fully installed and upon updating I realized that I installed the Eu Version of the game? The launch says Aion(EU). I'm not sure how this could have happened because I did not select anywhere for the Eu version of the game....Do I have to uninstall and reinstall regular Aion? |

I found this post from another site: "The recommended requirements are a Pentium 4 3.0GHz. Looking at an old benchmark, the 1.6GHz Pentium Dual Core will outperform a 3.2GHz Pentium 4 in Quake 4. With that in mind, I'd imagine you'll get by with medium settings."
I'm not expert, but from what I understand a dual core has an equivalent power to a single core ( of course there is a variation of power, but since Aion supports dual core I'm assuming there isn't much here). Being my cpu is dual core doesn't it beat Aion's minimum requirements? |
|
|
Solution isn't that simple. I have ran that test and failed it because of my CPU, but have ran other tests just like that and have passed them.
I think I'm going to go ahead and get this game because I'm convinced my CPU is powerful enough to get it. |

I cannot even believe no one has mentioned zombie panic source.
I have played Zombie Panic Source for over a year now and it is THE zombie game right now. Its an FPS you can download free on Steam (you only need a sourceSDK base to play it). The main point of it is survival. Example: 10 humans spawn in various houses on a given map and they have to cade their houses up in order to wait out the zombie barrage. Some maps are spawn based meaning you have to kill all the zombies and their spawn count or you have to wait it out for an amount of time (this is the usual game type. Usually, depending on the amount of people in the server 1-4 starting zombies will spawn including the carrier (he has extra hp, ability to infect people, and extra speed) and they have to begin killing humans and breaking down their barricades to kill them. As you die, naturally, you become a zombie. There's also other type of game types including objective based maps where you have to get parts for a boat/train to evacuate on or progress through a map to get to a helicopter at the end etc. The game is also updated frequently and through my time I have seen 3 major updates.

^That's probably the most ridiculous thing I've heard of in a long time.
When a game like WoW is crushing the market with numbers of which EQ2 and LOTRO combine don't even make a 50th why would they waste their time sending guerrillas (lmao) out to crush "competition"?
I won't play WoW because it doesn't appeal to me. I have played EQ2 and would happily go back to it if this game doesn't have what I'm looking for because I am indeed a lotro fan and I don't feel that I have to play a video game to support the great works of a literary genius who has about 8+ books out of this world alone.
LOTRO isn't a spec on Tolkien's ***. But I didn't come here to discuss that, I only want to know if I would enjoy playing this game or not. |
|
|
Thank you for the posts. Population is an issue for me too. How is the population compared to EQ2?
Also, how is the itemization of the game? |
|
|
Thanks I think I'm going to buy this. When does the Mirkwood expansion come out? Also how do you buy subscription fees? |

I've been looking for an mmo like Everquest 2 the only thing I dislike about everquest 2 is that end game is very hard to reach. I'm also a big fan of Lord of the Rings itself and almost finished reading the silmarillion (tried to read it back in middle school however that was a failure). Is the lore alot like the book? Will I like the lore if I like the book? |

The Official "We're Angry at SOE" thread
The Construct (General) « The Matrix Online 6/11/09 6:33:37 PM
SOE does this to all of their games. They hate their customers.
I invie all of you to check out everquestonlineadventures.com. They are going through a similar thing that happened to the matrix online.
I will never play another SOE game because the devs hate people who play their games. They consistently screw all of them up; Star Wars Galaxies, Matrix Online, Everquest online adventures, even the original everquest they frigged up. O ya I forgot Vanguard.
