Count how many ads/splash screens EQ2 has then count how many WoW has, EQ2 has 5?  WoW has 0.  Bliizard doesn't money-whore-fvck their fans like SOE does with having you have to press ESC thru 5 ads.

Also, Warhammer Online, brought to you be EA, will have a minimum of at least 5 ads/splash screens - my guess is Intel, Nvidia, EA, Mythic.....etc.

Blizzard also coded WoW with the goal that you would be at your character selection screen with a few mouse clicks as possible.

Blizzard "games for gamers by gamers" EA and SOE - "they put the FU in fun".

I'm back to playing WoW again, and I have an extensive list of MMOs on my resume.  So, WoW wasn't my first MMO, EQ was and it still remains my favorite MMO of all time, but I think WoW is a better game if that makes sense.  A few of the creators of WoW, Rob Pardo and Jeff Kaplan were both ex-EQ guildmates, I believe they were in the guild <Legacy of Steel>.  So, they looked at all of the annoyances of EQ and made sure that they were not a part of WoW.

This site is filled with a lot of juvenile kids that hate anything that is mainstream, so to them its more of a rebellion thing I think.  If not for WoW most of them wouldn't even know what an MMO was let alone have ever played one.

People that complain about WoW being gear dependent are right, but what is the alternative?  A game like AoC where level 40 items have the same look and stats as a level 10 item?  The more time people put into the game the better gear they get, I'm ok with that.

Every time I play a new MMO it reminds me of how good WoW is, the fact that you can travel from end of a continent to the other without hitting a zone makes the world feel very open.  I HATE constant zoning, talk about an immersion killer.  The WoW UI is so smooth and  responsive.  In NO other MMO have I been able to perform the turn-around-jump shot with a Ranger class like I have been able to do in WoW with my Hunter.  A  fully robust and working auction house, a mail system, etc. - this stuff all worked out of the box, unlike some games like AoC and Tab Rasa.  They're silly and simple minded features, but it speaks volumes about the extra attention to detail that Blizzard displays.

People bitch about the grind, I'm not sure how they want Blizzard to provide leveling progression?  Tossing water balloons?

After playing a turd like AoC I have more appreciation for WoW, sure the game is looking old, I used to defend the graphics but the game will be 4 years old soon and it is really showing its age in the graphics department but what other game out there allows 40 on 40 pvp BG battles, with spells going off, people fighting with no severe frame rate impact?  Try doing that with a modern MMO and the game will turn into a slideshow.

I enjoy PVP in WoW, moreso then any other form of PVP I've ever played in any other MMO, well maybe AO because they had the level restrictions which made ganking difficult.  But I love BGs.  I've learned more about my class, my skills and other classes playing PVP then years of PVE raiding.

Is it perfect, no - and for all of the WoW haters show me what you are playing that is so much better?  Blizzard is not an innovator, they take a game design and polish the hell out of it till it shines - I've played every Blizzard game and every one of them have been fun and addicting.  Blizzard stays true to their fans, they don't release garbage, they trashed GHOST because it wasn't meeting up to their standards, they trashed Warcraft Clan Adventures because it wasn't progressing - this is a lot of money to flush down the toilet even for Blizzard, who at the time had no WoW cash-cow to rely on.  For crying out loud they're still patching Starcraft and Diablo!!!!!!!!!!  Lets see EA support a 10-year old game.

Blizzard is a rare company today, a company that exists among the corporate blood suckers like EA.  At Blizzard the mantra is "games for gamers by gamers".  At EA its "make games that make money, regardless if they're good".

I'm sorry, hate all I want, I've met these guys, they're awesome and I love Blizzard and I love WoW.

I've been inactive for 90 days - do you have another serial code?  The one listed was used.

Thank you

There are few games that support DX10 right now, Crysis and Hellgate London are two games that I have played and I haven't noticed a huge difference between the two.

No one has played AoC on DX10, so you cannot even guess what the performance gain/hit will be.

This is DX9

You will hardly notice the difference in going from DX9 to DX10, I was pretty disappointed.

I have a new pc with Vista, and to me Vista = Windows Millennium Edition.

Microsoft has also moved up the release of their next OS, code named Windows 7, for potential release in mid-late 2009, up from a 2010 release. So, MS is aware that Vista did not live up to expectations.

I got Vista for DX10 gaming, does DX10 make a huge, noticeable difference in games? Meh, a little, very little. And whatever you gain in the eye candy department is negated by the fact that the game will run 20%-30% slower on Vista versus XP.

I kept telling myself to hang on till the first SP was released, and Vista SP01 shows a slight improvement, in some cases an 8%-10% improvement over Vista without SP01 when running applications and/or games.

If you do decide to go with Vista here is a link I used to help trim the number of unnecessary processes running in the background. Proceed with caution, and I wouldn't recommend making too many changes at once. I've killed a lot of Vista processes running in the background and this has helped remove some of the Vista bloat.

If I was given the chance again to have either Vista or XP on a new machine I would still go with Vista. I'm a tweaker and a hardware junkie, I like being on the bleeding edge, as painful as it may be at times. Vista does look nice, and I do use my pc for things other then games and when I do go back to XP on my work machine it just looks bland in comparison.

Also, AoC does not have DX10 currently enabled, so no one can tell you if it will be worth it.

Ummmm....it IS free to play.

Last I heard the game has around 10k players average.

Once again; developers need to know that they ca not shovel this crap to gamers - ship complete code or don't ship at all.  I just uninstalled the game, it was a major disappointment and I was promoting this game heavily to everyone and anyone.  Thanks Bill.

Wow......I'm so glad to see that we're still killing giant killer Gnats?

Wake me when something truly innovative is shown.

NO.

Hope that answers your question.

For me laying down some major fire damage with the Prop gun, and watching the damage spam, is bliss.

I've found the best non-official forum to be located at planettr.com, the developers are quite active on the site.  I've had 2 devs respond to my pms, I've never had a dev respond to me personally like that before.

Give the game a chance, its improving.  If you don't like it fine - tell me what amazing mmog you're playing,  that's perfect, and I'll come check it out.

Sorry guys, thats the Plains - roughly mid to high 20's.   I'm currently level 32 and having a blast.

* One pic is of any area where you see all of this mushroom like vegetation, they drip water down to the ground which is pretty cool.

* The next is a pic of the Bane launching an assault on the main base in the Plains.

* And lastly those are generators shooting electrical bolts into the sky, pretty cool to see in person.

For me, having played the beta for quite a bit but never going retail and having recently just gone back, for me the game really grabbed me around lvl 10'ish.  I was able to start filling out my weapon trays, I had some Logos, etc.

I would tell anyone just starting or coming back to give the game a chance - it would sorta be like judging EQ/EQ2 or WoW based on those early nub levels whacking rats/pigs with a rusty sword.

The 1.6 patch wasn't 3.5 gigs for me, that may be a combination of things.

The game can still be soloed for the most part, but the instances will require a group unless you out level the instance by numerous levels.  I have a RL friend and he an I duo all the time so we're covered either way.  Join an active clan, this way you can solo when you want and group for the tougher content.

I do know that all of the Prototype weapons I've received (purple weapons) have only come from instances, so if you're after really good loot you need to do instances.   They may drop outside of instances but that has been my experience.

I did nothing but base defend last night - and the players showed up in droves.  It looked like the 4th of July.

I keep saying if this game had another year to bake it would be fantastic.  But I'm still having a lot of fun.  Every MMOG out there has improved with time, and if NC Soft continues to make regular updates I hope we can expect the same from TR.

Clone before you train your new class, in this case you would have a level 14 Soldier.  Then you could then login to one of those chars and create, in this case, either a Commando or a Ranger.

I sent you a 3-day key, check it out.

But no, crafting is non-existent. And it is a lot of shooting around, unless you go with one of the Specialists that rely more on Logos.  Some people don't craft until they have a higher level clone to use since crafting uses the same precious skill points that combat does.  You can make armor dyes, improve armor and weapons but if you're a crafter you will be sorely disappointed.  NC Soft claims that a total revamp will be coming for crafting, but no eta has been given.

Its not perfect, I won't tell you that its the second coming, but it is what it is - a 3rd person online rpg, with a cool enemy, cool environments, armors and weapons.

The games fun, and im playing it now. My only qualm is how lame the skills are. As a SPY I used two or three skills. Infact I only used 2-3 skills from 1-30. Same goes on my Sapper im now making.

This needs to be revised pretty soon, guns lose their fun factor after the first few bangs.

Yeah, that is a problem - I agree.  The game has warts, no doubt about it - but its different and it has some really neat features and environments, such a nice change from the Orcs and Elves stuff.  I have a long list of things I would love to see added; like missions on Bane ships that you board and blow up, etc.  I mean you can really take this game in so many different directions.

Its far from perfect, but so far its held my interest.  I'm playing with a RL friend so every day we talk about our exploits from the night before.  We've been able to two man almost every instance, some gave us some trouble but its nice that the game doesn't require the typical - 5 man team; 3 dps, 1 healer, 1 tank.
