It'll never catch on..

Short answer: There is no way to creat waypoints on the maps.

Unfortunatly the maps in minecraft are all but useless, you have to have the map out and in your hand for it to actually "record" where you are going and where you have been. you can't setup way points, it doesn't show where your spawn point is..etc..

Have you figured out the spawn point in conjunction with the beds?

but I will warn you it is mostly kids 15 and under, (which is why I never became part of the community) VERY imature.

Missed that last part, yeah multiplayer servers are pretty much FFA PVP, you can destroy other peoples stuff and what-not, they call these servers "vinilla servers" meaning there is nothing added.

Alot (like 70%) of the servers have mods added to them, they add things such as:

Currency

No PVP

"Land plots" so you can not build on other peoples areas

"stores" so you can buy/sell blocks with the ingame currency

rpg mods (so you can have diffrent stats and level up and get better at stuff)

flying mods

there are a crap ton of mods for this game.. and each server is diffrent.

Well the MMO Ensemble was working on (while owned by Microsoft) was based on the Halo/Marthon IP (as you can clearly see by those screens.

So I suppose its not to far fetched to think that Blizzard could be working with Microsoft on a Halo MMO....

....But at the same time I don't think its likely, I remember Blizzard stating that their sci-fi game was going to be based on a new IP (not starcraft or something of that sort), which would also rule out the Halo IP.

That and it just doesn't seem like Blizzards "style" to work on/under someone else's IP.

So we'll have to see...

I'm not really clear on how it will all work, I know that it has something to do with Xbox live, (And I suppose you could have a xbox live account without having to have a xbox)

I do know that they've stated cross playform play (aka me on a xbox and you on a pc) will NOT be possible, to stop unfair advantages between mouse+keyboard users and controller users.

8GB of ram is really more then you need for gaming, even more-so on a laptop, I would look at 4-6GB of RAM.

As far as the HDD goes, 700GB is really not needed, unless you do alot of video stuff or alot of picture stuff, (my wife is really into taking pictures and photoshop and she just topped off a 3rd 1TB HDD.

i5 and i7 are both good, I havn't noticed a real diffrence betwean the two when it comes to gaming. (my wifes laptop has a i5 3Ghz, and my desktop has i7 3.4Ghz)

And as far as graphics cards go...there are so many new ones coming out it'd be easier to say whether its good or not if you post a link to which laptop you are looking at.

If you are only using this computer for gaming then I would look at getting a desktop (more bang for your buck)

But if you like going to friends houses and playing or need it for school/whatever then a latop is the way to go, My wife and I have been really happy with Toshiba's new stuff (they used to be crap)

Gateway

And don't order from:

Ibuypower.com  (got really screwed over by them once)

you hit it spot on. that is why i posted this. i am waiting for 2.0 to re-try FF14 (already have an account). I bought 11 through amazon for 8 bucks which is why i am trying to install it.

 

but you did hit it spot on. the CS (now 2) have still been unreliable. The 2nd one actually might have given me attitude (it was online typing so I don't know how to interpret the context of a particular sentence).

 

I have changed my password, 3x now, for the game and it still is telling me something is wrong. 

I am with you in waiting for FFXIV 2.0 ...right now its utter crap.

And normaly I don't side with the company on stuff.. BUT on this one, I'm going to have to, looking back at the chat log it should be pretty clear what to do.

I played FFXI for quite a few years, including turning my acount off and back on several times, And I never had a problem with POL (yes it is more difficult then signing up for a normal MMO) but its not rocket science.

Anyways...did you ever follow his instructions and get it working?

The ONLY redeming thing I've seen about windows 8 is the fact that it will be able to play xbox games.

And as far as MS goes I do think its a good idea to use the same interface/operating system for phone/pc/tablet, But I still think andriod is far supioror.

Not in the traditonal sense. You go to any vendor in a town and you can mark it to allow the appropriate NPC to resell it at the price of your choosing. Those items will only be sold in the town (or if you are out in the wilderness NPC) you sold them to, so it isn't a global market. It's a good system imo.

Yes.

what are some of the flaws?

Low population, mainland quests aren't particularly exciting, and do not reward exp, only fame and money if I recall right. Soloing can be difficult.

is it sandboxy?

Yes. The mainland is anyways. The beginners island is pretty quest oriented to teach you the basics and get you starting equipment/skills.

can you win without paying tons in item shops?

I don't think it has an item shop? It certainly didn't last time I played. The game is free up to a certain skill level, at which point you have to subscribe. You also can't own a apartment and I think packers/mounts as a free player.

how big is the game world?

Pretty big by modern standards imo. Traveling can be difficult as a beginner, but you can unlock teleports to major locations once you've been there. Assuming you've picked a faction anyways.

will I finish this game in a week?

No.

is it group orented?

Very. Despite the open ended class system, fighting alone can be a little rough. A duo at the very least is a lot more efficent.

I didn't say cut -overhead- budgeting, i said cut -development- budgeting on new projects.

Right now the bulk of Blizzard's income is via perpetual models, WoW Subscribitions, and box sales of titles already released.

Development capital does not produce income UNTIL the developed title ships, ergo halt production on developing any new titles until after you unscrew your screwed up telecom sectors that are bleeding out the profit that Activision Blizzard is earning you, right now they are keeping their heads above water because of their perpetual models, not because of new releases, the income from those is not produced til the product ships, understand? Until then it's just an investiment capital dump, and projects under development do not help fiscal reports, ergo do not instill investor confidence, meaning a 2-front capital loss, both in failed sectors, and frozen investments.

The only sector Vivendi has that can safily freeze development budgets (NOT OVERHEAD BUDGETS) is Blizzard, they pay the overhead to keep their current titles running, and producing income, while delaying their title development til a better fiscal report is produce freeing up more capital for dev. budgeting, understand?

 

Current titles, and releases would be uneffected by that, and in turn money would be redirected to failing sectors for restructuring, once you staunt the capital bleed that is causing your losses, you rebound, and invest back into your big dogs.

If not you risk enterting a downward spirll

Also , i just read Vivendi is considering to split their company, and make Activision Blizzard, and their Musical Universal Productions a seperate Media Entertainment company, perhaps so they can produce 2 fiscal reports, 1 of Vivendi showing losses due to failing sectors, while the other shows profitable gains to increase investor ventures. 

...So what your saying is, the ONLY place Vivendi can cut cost is at the develepment level? And IF this is true, they would cut funding to THEE highest grossing game on the planet?
