Gazillion is celebrating the second anniversary of Marvel Heroes today with a massive anniversary patch and all-day stream event. The folks at Gazillion can't have all the fun, though. We'll be joining in on the festivities by giving away 10 Dr. Doom pre-sale packs all throughout the day!

All you need to do to enter is follow us on Twitter @MMORPGCOM and Tweet us why you think Dr. Doom is awesome. Be sure to use the hashtag #todaybelongstodoom when you do!

After a year of on and off hardcore pvp'ing I've accumulated dozens of thousands of kills. I've reached rank 29 on an AD character then after AD kept winning the "main" campaigns I rerolled EP and reached rank 38 so far. I've been crowned emperor twice, once on each faction, and I've led pvp raids for one of the few continuously active and extremely successful hardcore pvp guilds that has remained faithful to ESO (not coming and going).

Within this zone I've seen it all and fought everywhere, from the tops of snow covered mountains, to the dangerous pits of lava, and upon the lush open fields. My journey continues, perhaps you shall find me on the field one day, most likely you already have.

My favorite zone is Eyevea. It is a just a joy to run around in. From simply artistic standpoint it is one of the better rendered zones. It stands as proof that a good concept and color palette can take you a long way.

My favorite zone is Stros M'kai. I just love how it the Arabian looking structures compliment the surrounding desert. When I first watched Aladdin as a kid, I got so excited every time I saw Aladdin flying around the city on his magic carpet, and you would see building that resemble the ones in Stros M'kai. Absolutely beautiful, and it does the Redguard justice as their territory!

Congratulations to our winners!

ArenaNet kicked off a new Stronghold public beta event today at 12PM Pacific. The event will run a full 24 hours through to 12PM Pacific tomorrow (19:00 UTC) and includes a host of changes for the upcoming PvP game mode.

  • Map Changes
    • A number of crates/boxes have been added inside the strongholds around the lord gate to provide opportunities for line-of-sighting.
    • Made a number of terrain changes.
    • Realigned the trebuchets to be able to hit the “Mist Essence” summoning areas.
  • Lord Updates
    • You can no longer resurrect the lord after the match ends.
    • You can no longer kill the enemy lord after the match ends.
    • When an opposing team’s lord is defeated, the winning team’s lord will now celebrate the victory with a cheer.
    • New skill: The lord will now execute an attack that pulls nearby enemies in, knocks them down, and then does a devastating 360 degree spin. Don’t let it hit you.
  • Lord Room Defending NPCs
    • The locations for the defending NPCs in each stronghold are now identical.
    • The defending NPCs in each stronghold have had their health increased by 10%.
  • Stronghold Guards
    • One set of guards (between the inner and outer gate) have been removed for a total of 4 guards.
  • Mist Essence
    • Mist Champions now spawn at the following minute marks: 12:00, 9:00, 6:00, and 3:00.
    • The 12:00 Mist Essence will now spawn nearest to the side that is behind on score.
  • General
    • Defending Npc names have been simplified from archer, soldier, ect. to all be called “Guards”
    • NPCs that cannot be resurrected lose their icon on the map after being defeated
    • The objective icons appear on the mini map upon entering the map, rather than when the match begins.
    • Trebuchets has been adjusted to make hitting important objectives easier
    • Red-side doorbreakers can no longer be summoned before dropping down from spawn.
    • Players holding max (2) supply can no longer pick up player dropped supply.
    • Players will drop any supply they were carrying when they are defeated
      • This means that if you have 2 supply and die you will drop 2 supply!

CCP just pushed out the first half of two major updates coming this summer, kicking off what they're calling EVE Online's "Summer of Sovereignty."

Here's how CCP describes the update:

Carnyx begins the Sov rush with new modules and gameplay for the theatre of war. Massive player empires have fortified themselves in strategic solar systems in anticipation of changes that encourage active use of space through an occupancy-based defense multiplier. The new Sovereignty brings opportunities for those wishing to get into nullsec and offers plenty of mayhem for small gangs to skirmish with their enemies. Carnyx's changes will ease players into the new capture mechanics by first affecting station services. Come Aegis, all Sovereignty structures will be under the sway of those willing and able to use an Entosis Link on capture objectives and wrest control away from foes.

We're switching to an entirely new set of forums soon, so we aren't adding any new forums at the moment.

The Guild Wars 2 Twitter account recently teased an image of Ventari, the centaur elder who helped plant the sylvari's Pale Tree centuries ago. Could this be the next Legend for the Revenant? Share your theories and speculation with us in the comments!

Pretty good news!

@MikeB Here's the thing, the Final Fantasy Online games (both 11 and 14) has never just let someone come in and pick any class/job they wanted, and it fits the Final Fantasy style admirably. Kind of like a "paying your dues" experience.  As a player who has leveled up every class; combat, crafting and gathering alike, I'd be offended if a person who just started the game was able to taken on any of the new classes without experiencing the game at all. Honestly, this game has so much to it and you should want to experience it all and not just rush through and have the newest and shiny things without feeling you earned it.

No it's not. Final Fantasy jrpgs don't make you do that at all. Final Fantasy games, except for their grindy timesink mmos, have never been about paying your dues to get into the cool kids club. That's just their mmo thing and probably why their mmos are not very popular with the rest of the FF fanbase.

I take it you have not played ANY of the single player Final Fantasy titles with the Jobs system in them.  Probably the most popular title would be Final Fantasy Tactics would be the best example.  You don't just go and say I want to a Ninja, and bam your a Ninja.  You have to first level Archer to 3, Thief to 4 and Geomancer to 2 (which means you would have leveled Squire to 2 to unlock Knight, then that to 2 to unlock Monk, and that to 3 to unlock Geomancer.)

But that's not what's going on here. They're just being arbitrarily content gated. This isn't a matter of you need to level A job to B level plus C job to D level. They're standalone jobs without any requirements other than an arbitrary content gate. Unlocking said gate will take a new player a very significant time and effort investment to get through while playing a job they may not necessarily be interested in. Again, precedent was set with Ninja (which is amusing given your choice of example!). They could have and should have done it exactly the same way they did Ninja, with the only difference being you need to own the expansion to play the job at all.

It honestly seems like they designed these jobs with only existing level capped players in mind when it came to the unlock requirements. If I'm already a level 50 Dragoon, I'm generally not going to mind a whole lot that I just need to play the new content to unlock one of the new jobs. It sounds reasonable to me. However, if I'm a player that's new to FFXIV altogether and learning about Heavensward is what got me interested in checking the game out to begin with, I'm going to be pretty bummed out to learn that I need to play through the entire game as a different job entirely before I can even check out any of the expansion exclusive jobs, especially if one of these jobs is the primary reason I became interested in playing in the first place.

My issue is with the fact the new jobs can only be unlocked through the expansion content instead of being available for play at character creation. If I'm a new player and I finally broke down and bought the game because I wanted to play X job from the expansion, the notion that I need to level up some job I  don't care about all the way to Ishgard before I can even play the one I want is what's off-putting for me.

These jobs were always meant to start at level 30. Giving new players access to a free level 30 seems a bit goofy to me.

So start the jobs at level 1? They already did this with Ninja (Rogue). The new jobs should have followed the same format. Forcing me to play through a metric ton of content on a class I don't care about isn't very appealing. I don't agree with people who think the barrier is too steep because they need to complete the story to get to Ishgard. I don't mind doing that. I just want to do it on a class I like.

This will end up being a dealbreaker for a lot of people who are only just now interested in the game at all because the jobs they're adding are the ones that appeal to them. Maybe I waited on playing FFXIV until my favorite class (let's say, Dark Knight) was added. Woot! Now it's here! Oh wait, I can't actually play this until I take some other class through the entire game and then into the expansion? I don't really think this is a defensible position. It's an unforced error that will cost them potentially new customers for really no upshot that I can think of.

RiftGrate is reporting that Trion Worlds filed to trademark 'Reactor' back in December 2014. The trademark has been updated twice since then with 'security interests' recorded on March 25 and May 21 of this year.

We're unsure at this time what 'Reactor' could be. Is it a new game? An expansion? Some sort of platform like Glyph? We'll have to wait to find out, but you can be sure we're keeping an eye on it!

In a conversation with the folks over at IGN, Final Fantaxy XIV's Naoki Yoshida raised the possibility of adding the underwater sport of Blitzball (originally featured in Final Fantasy X) to FFXIV.

"We can’t say it’s been decided yet, this may be just half-joking so don’t write it down as confirmed," he said. "But there was a meeting about two months ago where I had a chance to speak with Kitase-San, and I mentioned there seemed to be a big demand for implementing a Blitzball element in Final Fantasy XIV, and Kitase-San was just like, 'Oh wow, I never knew that? That could be cool to consider!'

The bit of news also came with hints that players may see some sort of in-game tie-in with the launch of Final Fantasy XV.  This wouldn't be the first time FFXIV enjoyed a game launch tie-in. Players were previously able to collect items themed after the characters in the Final Fantasy XIII games as part of a promotional event for the launch of Final Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.

DRAGO Entertainment has launched an update for Otherland. the MMO based on the eponymous Tad Williams book series, adding new clan and PvP features to the closed beta.

Details below:

Many innovations were added to Otherland’s new Clan feature. Players can now establish and name their own clan, and acquire “Clan-exclusive items” in the Lambda Mall. Clan Charters have to be signed by four players. The following features will now be available to clans: member ranking, invite and kick, promotion and demotion as well as hierarchy management. One of these innovations is the “Takeover” function, which allows clan members to replace their clan leader.
Furthermore, each clan can now have their own profile sheet and share “News of the Day” on a public dashboard. Players will also have the possibility to dissolve clans.
Last but not least: one of the most important new functions is Clan Level. Clans will now feature a level-up mechanic, including a progress bar, daily XP bonuses and Clan rankings.

PvP gameplay has also undergone a nice overhaul. For the first time, players can now enter and leave PvP mode at will. New UI elements will display PvP info in real-time.
Player XP-Bonus can be increased by activating PvP mode. Safe Areas will be implemented. In these zones, players will benefit from protection and will not be able to take part in PvP matches. Other interesting features will be integrated, such as PvP-exclusive XP levelling, XP penalties, damage dealing & damage reduction, as well as PvP-exclusive rankings.

You can learn more about Otherland at the game's official website.

Wander, the collaborative non-combat MMO, is set to release on Steam and PS4 next week on Thursday, June 4. Check out the launch trailer below.

ArtCraft's J. Todd Coleman recently delivered a new founder's update to backers. In the update, we learned that the team plans to get something playable to pre-alpha backers from the game's "core combat" module sometime this summer.  Backers will also soon be able to unbundle their packages and, eventually, gift, trade, and upgrade the individual contents of said bundles.

Coleman also sheds some light on what players will be receiving in their bundles. Additionally, backers who purchased a bundle containing a small castle or higher will now receive a bonus stronghold one size down added to their package.

New wolf hero, Fortress, joins the fray in the latest game update to Super Evil Megacorp's iOS MOBA, Vainglory.

Fortress' abilities include:

Packmates (Heroic Perk)
When Fortress is near an allied hero, he will move faster after 1 second. He will maintain this move-speed bonus so long as he’s alongside any allied hero.

Truth of the Tooth
Fortress marks the target enemy as prey and his next basic attack becomes a short-range lunge. Fortress and allied heroes gain move speed when moving toward anything marked as prey.

Law of the Claw
Fortress claws his target for crystal damage and causes it to bleed. Bleeding targets take damage every second. Attacks from Fortress and his allies have lifesteal against bleeding targets and increase bleeding by one stack. Upon reaching max stacks, the target is dealt a burst of damage based on its max health, is slowed and receives mortal wound (-33% healing).

Attack of the Pack
Fortress howls, gaining increased health and attack speed and calls to him a pack of wolves. Each pack wolf seeks out a different enemy hero. These wolves apply bleeding with their basic attacks.
