"SWTOR Not a Priority for Development"
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 5/18/12 9:29:07 AM
Originally posted by Fed1 Sorry, all those who cancelled their accounts but still have time remaining are counted in the "active subscriber" numbers. As are those who keep getting free time added on just in time for the reports, rather conveniently I might add. It is more than easy to hand investors lies disguised as truth with no repercussions. It's called "massaging the books" where I come from. |

WildStar: Metal Maw in Action
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/18/12 9:19:47 AM
Yay. More "Metal Maw". "Oh, look! Here's a video of Metal Maw!" Months later.... "Oh, look! Here's a video of Metal Maw that looks slightly better!" Months later... "Oh, look! Here's a video of Metal Maw that looks a bit better than the last one!"
So far, unless they're changing the name of the game to "Kill Metal Maw Over and Over Online", I predict a flop of gigantic proportions. And that's only if it doesn't turn out to be total vaporware first. |

Looks Like 38 Studios is Close to Bankruptcy

Funny how Schilling has always stated he's against government in business and especially government bailouts, yet he's looking for R.I.'s government to bail his company out. Dude is a hypocritical joke. |

Originally posted by BarCrow EAware renamed every EA owned dev house they possiby could "Bioware" to wring every drop of money off the reputation Bioware had before EA. They are running the name into the ground. It'll be time for them to buy up another studio soon so they can hide mediocre devs behind anther reputable name to churn out some more mediocre games after the name "Bioware" is synonymous with "shit". Which is pretty much already here anyway. Command and Conquer by "Bioware" is a good example coming up. ROFLMAO |

Originally posted by Soandsoso Uh huh. I'll humor you. Call back your credit card company and ask about refunds regarding false advertisement. "Pre-order The Secret World and receive EXCLUSIVE beta access!" There is no exclusive beta access. The beta access your pre-order gives you is the same beta access everyone who got invited randomly ( and for free ), or played the Facebook game to get invited ( for free ) to CB has. |

Originally posted by Soandsoso And if a company gets enough people doing charge backs, that company starts getting fined and can even lose the ability to accept that vendors ( MasterCard, VISA, etc. ) card. And it's real easy to tell them the truth. Product does not come out for another month, no product has been released yet, and the person no longer wishes to purchase it when it does release. That's all the CC company needs to hear. Again, CC companies do NOT consider "beta test" to be a valid purchaseable product. Noone pays to test a game. |

Originally posted by Searias So you think that, even though someone may have every intention of buying and subscribing becuase they love what the devs have claimed the game is, they should not have the right to get their money back after being allowed to see ( though beta access ) the game is either not what they were told or is otherwise not what they were expecting? When there has been NO PRODUCT RELEASED therefore there is NO PRODUCT TO SELL? A pre-order is not a product, it is a promise that there will be a product in the future. You cannot sell a promise, you can only sell a product. I really can't believe how people are just willing to bend over, grease up, and open wide nowadays. |

The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/16/12 12:21:05 AM
I just got off the phone with my neice who lives in Woonsocket, R.I. It is not a pretty picture for 38 Studios there. The ciizens of R.I. are up in arms about being potentially liable for 112 million and are putting a shit ton of pressure on the governor of R.I. There's a good chance 38 Studios may cost the governor his job due to a recall over this. You can imagine, therefore, the pressure the governor is putting on 38 Studios. I expect Copernicus is dead in the water and 38 Studios will end up dissolved and sold off to ease the debt burden the citizens of R.I. will have to pay for.
Edit: I also expect no other game developers will enjoy public funding in R.I. ever again. Good job, Mr. Schilling. Next time, don't quit your overpayed day job and stick to what you know. |

General Discussion « The Secret World 5/15/12 11:44:45 PM
Originally posted by Yalexy And i'm glad he doesn't. A "beta" is not considered a "product" under credit card agencies rules. A beta is a test, not a released product. As such, it is refundable regardless of what Funcom or any other company tries to do on their own end in regards to their "rules". If he'd played AFTER release and then tried to do a charge back/refund, THAT would be "unethical" and he would not be allowed ( unless he can show proof that the product was irrefuteably different than what he was promised or massively broken such as when people got refunds for Vanguard, Darkfall, and other beyond shitty releases ). Until Funcom actually ships/releases a "complete" ( as in out of testing phases and released as a 'ready for consumption" product ) product, anything they do to try to deny refunds is null and void. One day, Funcom will realize tricks they use in Norway will not fly in the U.S. and other parts of the globe. |
