Lol who cares what they put on their forums? Just don't click on the link is all.

Myself I use avg pc tuneup which works like a dream it's not anti virus but I don't have a day to do major maintenance on my $6000.00 gaming rig I built myself, so I get the program and I calibrate it to my liking and everything else is old news.

To Bill, don't worry about the nay Sayers there's always afew in every crowd that goes for everything.

You built a $6000 gaming rig yourself ? And your friend launches satellites while doing desktop tech work?

If he actually spent $6k to build a PC for gaming, he'd be the LAST person I'd ever take advice from. lol

ironically so true. you can build an absolute top of the line for less than 1500, no idea what he spent the other 4500 on...

i built a 700 buck rig that could handle everything i have thrown at it so far.

Check up above, he's including the price of software for some reason.

No way you could build a top of the line rig for $1500. I'm sure it's a nice PC, but not even close to top of the line. I spent about $2800 for the best hardware I could find (590 gtx) and another $850 on the monitor. Warranty on pretty much everything included in that price, but the video card alone was $750 which is half of your $1500. Just sayin..

There's a difference between 'top of the line" and "overkill". There's not a game out there that requires $3000 worth of parts ( much less the laughable $6000 the other guy said ). A computer that will run every game out there on highest settings can well be built for $1500 or less with sales.

Now that would be an awesome addition.

Good.

There's been no real crafting systems in any MMO for about 6+ years, it's about time. Let's hope they implement this, I will actually look at playing AoC if they do this.

That statement is so utterly incorrect.  Sounds like you need to expand your horizons, and stop playing crappy mmos.  Plenty of mmos out now have 'real' crafting systems, many have deeper crafting than SWG did.

which ones, LOL you cant just say that statement and not say which ones and why

lol .. i wanna see this too, which game out there has anything comparable to SWGs crafting system, please tell me, i will download it right now

Okay.. Read before you watch vids http://wiki.silkyvenom.com/index.php/Crafting not quite as involved..okay lol.

See ya..

All you proved is what's already been said. Not even in the same ballpark as SWG crafting.

Hell, even mmos specifically made with crafting as the main focus such as A Tale in the Desert pale next to SWG crafting.

Sadly, I doubt we'll ever see that amount of depth and versatility in crafting in any mmo again. Players nowadays can't handle it. Even TSW crafting has no depth, just an "assemble in the specified pattern" minigame to give it an appearance of difficulty for difficulties sake.

Yup. So is buying Magic or Pokemon cards (sports cards, too for that matter), or putting your money in a gashapon machine.

Being in an mmo makes it illegal if states/countries the game is in has laws against online gambling.

SOE found this out, it's why if you read the fineprint on their online card games (Legends of Norrath, SWG, whatever ) you'll notice the games are not allowed in many U.S. states due to anti-gambling laws. the fact that the cards can be bought with REAL CASH,  and the fact that SOE card games give you a "CHANCE" of getting an item for the main game the card game is related to . The lockboxes fit the description of gambling, you buy a "key" with REAL CASH for a 'chance" to open the lockbox and get an item/prize.

Original article on Massively.

If anyone tries to refute the above claim to you, then be prepared to listen to a chain of logic so twisted and bent that it's probably been run through a yoga class. The simple truth of all this is that you're plunking down a set amount of real-world money for a possibility of getting a reward you desire. It's gambling.

There is some hope as pointed out in the article. Blizzard had to kill Diablo III's RMT in South Korea. One can always hope the US and Europe will follow suit.

uhh, what does D3's rmah have to do with lockboxes or gambling?

D3's RMH is going to have more problems than South Korea gambling laws. Basically, South Korea said it "may" violate laws simply because Blizzard tried to sneak the RMH part of the game past them, only showing them the rest of the game for the SK rating board.

The real problem for D3, and more importantly its players, is going to be when the United States I.R.S. hits them hard for taxes on profit. And that IS coming.

After having been selected for a 2nd beta that never materialized back in what, 2007?, and NOTHING for the last 5 years, I have little faith that this kickstarter attempt is anything other than a scam. Sorry, but that's just how I see it.

Make sure to use Xfire stats as your next "proof". lol

LOL providing no evidence at all to your ascertions.  Wallowing in ignorance does not make you correct, only ignorant.

I provided evidence of my assertions. In another thread where Yuui and I already had this argument. Feel free to find it. Hint: both the NPD sales figures ( 330k in Feb and 80k in March with no real change in April ) and EA investor reports ( where, while nice things are said for other EA games regarding profit, KoA is mentioned only as a "successful" release ) are found with that little google tool you're so proud of.

Evidence of your assertions was what, that they did not mention the sales in their Q4 report, where I think they only mentioned numbers for one game?

According to you, every game that EA has sold less than 1 million copies, except TOR.  Good logic there, man.

Also, the quarter ended at the end of March.. today is May 20th.  The game is still retailing for full price.  Think.  It's really not that hard.

So, you're a liar, because you either aren't playing CB of TSW or you're violating the NDA, and now you're making poorly thought out assumptions, and accepting them as gospel.  The only way to get value out of your 3000 comments here, I think, would be to print them on toilet paper.

Give me a fucking break.

First, I give about as much of a shit about an NDA as I do about you, they can feel free to sue me. I already uninstalled the beta as I find no use in wasting my time testing a game one month from launch that has no hope of changing any of the fundamental things wrong with it.

By the way, what the fuck does my playing TSW beta have to do with this?

Second, if KoA even came close to 1 million sales, Schilling would have been screaming it to the rooftops. Throw me a link with the devs proclaiming their massive sales of 1 million+ copies and we can call it a day on this matter.

And since you "think" they only mentioned numbers for one game, I'd say YOU didn't read the report at all.

It's kind of ridiculous how a number of MMO gamers on these forums think that making the questing more interesting and immersive than a bare bones task list, makes an MMORPG a SPRPG. As if one excludes the other.

That kind of binary thinking really is 'Alice in Wonderland' type of logic

What makes it a SPRPG is that all through CB, I never once needed to group. In fact the way the quests are designed, group is actually counterproductive to questing.

This. ^

And let's not forget to mention that the majority of "dungeons" are designed for, and locked to, ONE player so they don't "ruin the story". At least even ToR beat them here, allowing you to bring your group into storyline dungeons and even allowing those in your group to interact/make choices with you. TSW has none of that. Tehn again, TSW doesn't even give YOU dialog choices ( or even the illusion of choice such as in ToR ), much less your group.

IT was a massive success and a sleeper hit.  The financial troubles are from and because of MMO and the overall scheme on what the hell is going on in there is unclear due to sensantionalist nature of gaming journalism.

Ehh what?  Gaming journalism?  It is even mentioned in the regular newspapers here in Europe!

There were several articles in various regular newspapers stating how 38 studios isn't paying out salaries this past week in order to make a deposit to pay off portion of their huge loan! And that if they cannot fulfill further payments, that the local government is going to step in and take over with tax money!

So it has nothing to do with sensational journalism. This is just a fact about what is going on right now.

I'm still waiting for Yuui to show us where these "million sold copies" are, as both NPD and EA seem to indicate much less than that.

So how long are we going to continue complaining about combat while having access to only the most basic of skills, which are intended to prevent new players from gimping themselfs by choosing a wrong pairing?  How long are we going to keep calling the game repetative...as if were only locked into one map and need to do the repeatables for lack of other things to do?

Unless your a CBT and have played more maps and have experemented with high tier skills...im not interested in how lame combat is at "level 5" because im only going to be using those skills a short period of time

*[mod edit]

When was the last game you actually enjoyed as far as mmorpgs.  Im assuming your zorvan and for the life of me i cant remember a single mmorpg you actually liked (im assuming it was a first gen mmorpg)...and yes ive been around about as long as you.

So are you impling that the higher tier skills and all maps other than kingsmouth dont exist?  If so that would change my mind..yes...

What happened to Crunchyblack, that was you wasn't it?

I've liked a few over the years, but the last 6 years or so has left me wanting to throw every "new" mmorpg on a bonfire.

As for your question, I'll just say that yes, those exist, but if you've played Kingsmouth, you've played TSW. New skill names and different areas don't change the underlying mechanics. What you've seen really is fundamentally what you get.

In short, TSW suffers the same problem as SW:ToR. Would have made a great, even fantastic, singleplayer game. The story and puzzles are good, for the most part.  But as an mmo, it's just not going to cut it.

i give it less than 3 weeks before its cracked and pirated servers are up. Sorry but no game is unhackable.

i dont support hacking, my past history of posts can prove this....but to say this game wont be hacked is just retarded.

That's not a hack.  That's brute force trying to emulate what they see blizzard doing.  It's a lot of work just to take money out of developers pockets.

Yeah, that hasn't stopped all the WoW private servers. It probably takes a lot less work to emulate a game like D3 than it would to emulate an actual MMO. I don't know how those people aren't constantly in fear of being prosecuted, but there are servers that have been live literally for years. It's definitely possible, even probable.

Some private servers take donations, that seems like a big red flag to get sued by Blizzard.  They must have some fair use claim that keeps Blizzards lawyers off their backs.  Or maybe they've researched and found they actually get people who started on the private ones.

I can explain why private servers get immunity for the most part.

1.) The client. You cannot prosecute someone for "stealing" what you allow everyone and their brother to download freely from your own site.

2.) The server. You can be prosecuted if you reverse engineer and/or steal the actual server code. You cannot be prosecuted if you simply write your own server code to emulate the functions of the "official" servers. Basically, the coders find all the "hooks" in the client, then write their own code to connect those "hooks" togethether in a fashion similar to the official server. This is why you can have cases of a private server running better than the official one, as well as servers that run completely shitty due to an inexperienced coder who built the server code.

3.) Profit. You can be prosecuted for charging a fee to play, as you are directly profiting off the original company's product ( the client ). You CANNOT be prosecuted for accepting donations as you are not requiring anyone to actually donate so you are not considered to be "profiting" under the law. You can thank churches for this in a way, because laws protecting the "tax exempt" status of churches, including the difference between "profit" and "donation", are also the laws that help private server admins.

Actually, the only "online" setups that are actually pirate proof are those like OnLive. Someday, when server and and internet infrastructure is good enough, online games may be completely server side and "streamed" to your PC, with your only input being the controls of your characer. But it's going to be a LONG time before that ever becomes a feasible reality.

Not until Internet 2.0 is worldwide implemented. That's for sure.

Yeah, and we've been waiting pn that for how long now?

I think trying to compare themselves to Skyrim hurt even more than just the existance of Skyrim itself. There would have been a lot less backlash and disappointment if they hadn't tried to play that card.
