And this, boys and girls, is how carpol tunnel syndrome for the whole body became possible.

"Dude, why are you in a body cast?"

"My guild decided to raid that new dungeon. You know, the one on top of the mountain?"

"Yeah. But that doesn't explain the body cast."

"I fell off the ledge."

TL;DR version:

There are assholes and nitwits in virtual worlds just like in the real world?

StarVault has no legitimate reason to require a scan of anyone's identification. Period.

Will you play SWTOR as a MMO or as a RPG?

Neither. I will play SW:toR as a last resort once I have played every single video game made in the last 20 years, including handhelds, arcades, consoles, etc.

Well upcoming double dipping mmorpg TSW will be released on xbox as well :/

Yeah, just like AoC? They talked a lot about that abut canned it 6 months after they released the PC version, I wouldn't hold my breath for TSW either...

Ragnar already stated that it most likely will stay PC exclusive unless TSW is a huge roaring success ( and we know that ain't happening, too many people have been Funcom'd ). He also stated that if it does go on the 360, it would be an entirely different game than what is on the PC (read: dumbed down, instanced to hell, and graphically inferior).

"Working as intended", unfortunately.

This is why i take a dim view of "user created content".

If you give a user free reign, nine times out of ten they will run with it.

But...but...Carbine Studios has "heavy hitter" developers!

Hmmm, so did Vanguard.

So did Tabula Rasa.

So did Hellgate: London.

lol

People never learn.

Then he should have been fired and replaced by someone with the equipment to do the job. They could have just given a 12 year old kid an allowance to get on the library computer.

I have to say one thing.

Although i always take CGI trailers and such with a grain of salt when it comes to any game, the original trailer they made for Dead Island ( you know, the sad one with the little girl ) just totally and completely misrepresented the game.

The actual game evokes about as much feeling as a pinched cheek after a huge dose of novacaine.

I was thinking the Lifetime sub was way more than $100.  If that's all it was then I admit my mistake in saying that the OP is screwed for having paid it.  For that relatively small amount it's definitely worth it in any game.

$299 / $15 = 19.93

So basically, once a lifetimer played longer than 1 year and 8 months, he's broken even and started to gain.

It wasn't $299. It was $199 or $15 per month, so a little over a year of playing time and you were winning.

*ahem* Don't believe everything you read on wikipedia.

http://www.warcry.com/news/view/73337-Lord-Of-The-Rings-Online-299-Lifetime-Memberships-Now-Available

The $199 was a special deal done later on, the original lifetime subs were $299.

I know, I was there at launch.

They are probably both correct. The Wiki definitely is. You need to read both of the links again. The one I gave, referred to the Founders offer, which I did get and included early access and a lifetime sub for $199 or 99 UKP. If you didn't, you weren't there from the start as you are quoting the increased price after launch.

However, even after that, there were other opportunities to get the lifetime sub for $199 when various limited time offers were running as also mentioned in the Wiki.

No, I remember the Founders offer and all. Could have sworn it was the $299 deal also, but now I think about it, you're right. I do remember now because I was debating getting the Founders but just couldn't swing it financially at the time, then they did the $299 and I completely balked at it then.

Sorry, getting older. Sometimes the memory works, it just puts shit in the wrong place. lol

The $199 was a special deal done later on, shortly before F2P. The original lifetime subs were $299.

If you're only getting it for the singleplayer, then wait for it to hit the bargain bins or wait for the next Steam holidays sales.

The story is almost non-existant and the gameplay itself is monotonous and repetitive to the point of frustrated tears.

Also, for a zombie game, there's absolutely no tension or fear at all.

In a way the lifetime sub turns the game into box 2 play because you still end up having to buy expansions.

True. Although lifetimers get the same benefit as regular subs and get free TP every month. Unlike monthly subs, they're really getting the TP free as they don't have to pay the $15 a month to get it. So unless they blow that TP on stupid stuff, they can just about get the expansions for free also.

Graphics and sound are probably on par. Way less customization. Most armor in Rift is just copy/pasted from low level to higher level.

PC gaming is coming to an end.

Hate to tell you, but most developers disagree with you.

I have a better idea.

Please list the most recent mmoRPGs that were worth playing for more than  30 days.

I would say you're screwed at this point if you bought the lifetime sub....maybe a learning experience?

nonsense.

I'd buy a lifetime sub at this very moment if they offered it.

I should have bought the lifetime sub when they first offered it but was unsure if I would want to keep playing the game over the long term.

Not having to pay any monthly fee and getting all the content in the game with each each purchased expansion is much better than buying the smaller quest packs and paying more for them in the long run.

and you get your monthly turbine points on top of that.

And I would counter that you wouldn't be making a very smart financial choice by buying a lifetime sub at this point for various reasons:

1.  You don't have to buy all the quest packs at all.  In fact doing so would be a waste of time and TP.

2.  If you don't mind some grind for TP, you can buy all the quest packs without spending a RL dime on them.

3.  Monthly TP - why would you need them when you can get them in game and so get everything for free anyway?

Sure my characters might not have every single thing the game has to offer, but I don't mind.  Most of it is just fluff and I'm selective about what I want anyway.  I don't need all that to have a great experience playing the game.

Except suppose one wants a quest or two from one pack and some from another?

My lifetime sub would allow me to jsut go into an area and take the quests. The free to play player would have to buy a quest pack just to do a few quests in the area even though he or she didn't want to do all of them.

I'm not dissing on f2p, I think it's fine enough and as a matter of fact I'm on f2p now waiting for the expansion to come out. And I certainly don't mind "grinding" as I don't call it grinding. making your way thruogh a dangerous area and killing along the way is "play" to me.

My lifetime sub would allow me a substantial savings and I would ahve everything at my fngertips way into the future of the game. Which has many years to go.

what was it, something like $100 or so dollars?

Lifetime sub was $299.

Hardly on the same level. It's more like they gave the guy who answers the phone to tell what the movie times are the day off and let the answering machine handle it. Annoying but not crippling. I know it's complete heresie but forums aren't in any way necessary to the functioning of a game.

They are when SV purposely removed the bug tracker and then decided that the guy they told everyone to PM bugs to should have a vacation.
