I reckon he'll be the same as all the others once the people who are really in charge have worked out how to get their hooks into him. I have yet to see a politician who has a price out of reach of the major corporations. I'll be happy to be proved wrong though...time will tell.

Well you wanna know what makes me angry.. is when i buy a game and i see alot of people getting the same experience with a copy from the internet...

Sadly, in a lot of cases, the people playing pirated copies are getting a superior experience because they don't have all the DRM nonsense wrecking their systems. I don't know what the answer is here, too much piracy and there won't be any point in creating new games, but too much damaging DRM of the sort we are seeing these days and people simply won't be able to play them or, like me, will simply choose not to.

I spent ages cursing at EA after installing Spore and finding they'd placed a rootkit on my PC. Took ages to get rid of the damn thing. I'm avoiding Aion for the same reason, I wanted to look into that game but I'm not taking chances with the malware bundled with it.

It's a complex matter, but the sum of it is of course piracy is bad, hurts our economy

Piracy may be bad but claiming that it hurts the economy is ridiculous. What do you think happens to the money saved by not buying a DVD or CD? It doesn't vanish into the ether, it gets spent elsewhere, therefore no difference to the economy at all.

I've heard lots of arguments from the media companies, all of them scaremongering hogwash. If they didn't churn out so much junk and have such stupid restrictions on what we can do with what we've paid for, they wouldn't be in this mess now.

I'd like to see a try before you buy model of some sort but the media companies would never go for that. They know 99.9% of what they churn out would never sell if people could try it first.

Everyone who was ever born has died or will do at some time in their future.  The only way to prevent this is sterilise every human until there are none left.

"Why aren't more people asking questions like me?!

Probably because such questions are meaningless and pointless. Most reasonable people would like to have some freedom to live their lives they way they choose without interference from the do-gooders who feel cheated if they can't control every aspect of everybody elses lives.

From Gameguards own site, a 114 error is frequently caused by collisions with anti-virus software and it can be broken by windows updates or any other running program. They recommend that you shut down all applications while it's running, including security processes!

A quote from their own FAQ "Some functions of GameGuard could be blocked due to system over protection" - in other words, while their program is running they expect you to leave your PC open to attack. Personally I won't touch a game that installs a rootkit, especially one as fragile as this. Anything that hides itself on my PC, doesn't have an uninstall option and gives itself the right to shut down any system process that it doesn't like is dangerous in my book.

What's the rush? There's no end game. Once you hit 50, all you can do is keep doing the same old thing with your level 50 or start a new toon at level 1 and do it all again. I've run out of slots now and half of them are 50's that very rarely get played any more - bit of a waste really but until they do something for the 50's that's the way it'll stay.

The amount of exp you need to gain a level rises with each level you gain (if that makes sense) so it is supposed to take longer to gain each successive level. You probably won't like the answer but the best way to maximise exp is to be in a big team. If you insist on being in a very small team then you're in for a long trek. As I said though, you needn't rush, there's simply no point.

I don't think you're doing anything wrong, except maybe expecting to gain levels as fast as a team specifically set up for that purpose (mis)using the mission architect...which is generally as boring as heck...

If you ever played Doom or Quake deathmatches with friendly fire turned on (or any other game I imagine) you'll know why most people hate it with a passion. Just needs one idiot to ruin the whole thing for everyone.

Just waiting for you lot to get rid of the bugs...

It depends, is it going to be like Coh where you log on and spend a few hours looking for a good sized party because playing solo or duo gives so much less xp?

I liked the whole hero idea but the grouping up ruined it. I never made it to endgame in CoH.

There's no endgame. You do exactly the same thing at level 50 as you do at level 1, just with lots more powers and health. You're still seeing contact - going to kill or rescue - going back to contact. Nothing changes.

Personally, I'm getting a bit jaded with the whole MMO thing. Need a rest I think.

And how exactly was CoH endgame different from any other games endgame? You do the same things you did in the early game that you do in the endgame in every single game that is out. Even WoW, which people claim starts at the level cap is nothing but grinding for more gear, just like the first 69 levels.

That's why I'm getting a bit jaded with the whole thing. I'll still try CO when it's released. Haven't given up on CoH yet though I do tend to spend more time in the trailor than doing anything else these days :p

I came within a hairs breadth of downloading the free trial, must admit the game looked good to me but, for some reason, I decided to take a look at their terms and conditions. Seems that if you install the game you are deemed to have given them permission to scan your PC for anything they choose.  All sounds a bit Sony'ish to me so I declined their kind offer...

lol, thats all I'm gonna say. Ok I lied... Are you talking about this:

Computer Information: Funcom may collect and store your internet protocol address. As noted in the Funcom End User License Agreement (“EULA”), we may use this information to remotely check your computer to determine if any “Restricted Software” (as such term is defined in the EULA) is installed or if any necessary software patches supplied by Funcom have been installed

Thats why you dont want to try a game? I hope you read the EULA and Privacy Policies for other games too then.

I do indeed and while they all have clauses saying that you agree not to use things that automate input like bots, etc., there's a world of difference between agreeing not to do something like that and having to install software that scans your PC and reports back home. If they don't trust me not to cheat then I don't trust them not to misuse such software.

Can't see the problem myself to be honest. Every time you log in, you confirm that you've read the EULA and agree to abide by it, you then completely ignored it and are mad at being caught out. At least they just issued a reminder to not do it again, they could have just banned your account outright.

I haven't made up my mind yet. Still got my account, mainly due to the time I've invested in the game, well over 4 years now.  The mission architect hasn't made the game 'trash' though, it's the players who are abusing it that are causing the problems...as usual.

This was my first MMO as well. I remember spending lots of time in the greater hives and coming away with a few little gold cats. Dunno why but I had more fun playing that simple game than I do these days on the complicated but graphically far superior games we have now.

"sigh" I bet if it popped up offering free Booze, Sex  and a  Lifetime sub he would'nt complain ..... People eh dontcha just love their crap ....

now ain't that he truth!  I had to read halfway through this thread to figure out WTF the OP was even talking about. If the splash screen was the biggest problem I ever had with a MMO then I would have no problems.

Lol No kidding right? Every Fanboy in here should be thriled that My bigest complante isent even in the game...

Seriously tho Someone said there was a way to remove this... Does ANYONE know how???

I've never even noticed it! Why is it so important?

It's a shame really. When I first heard about that game I decided to keep an eye on it as something showing some promise. I gave up on the idea after being unable to find out anything useful at all from their website. I've never seen a video like that before, it's not looking good is it? Beginning to think I had a lucky escape - wouldn't touch it with a 20 foot barge pole now

Still trying to work out how to turn my stalker into a hero and make it believable! I'm looking forward to trying though

Should be an easy transformation for some of my heroes though, they looks more villainous than some villains I've seen...

I had great hopes for the mission architect but is's turned out to be a bit of a double edged sword for the developers. They seemed to be caught out by the use that a number of players put it to. It seemed quite obvious to me (and a lot of other people) that the farmers and power levellers would be onto this faster than you could blink and that's exactly what happened.

The devs are now having to clean up the mess by asking people to 'report' dodgy missions and they are looking at levelling rates for toons to see which ones have obviously benefitted unfairly from specially created low risk high reward missions. They are now in the unfortunate position of having to contemplate deleting powerlevelled toons with all the potential problems that can cause.  Even worse, they are backpeddelling on the badges that were awarded for use of the MA, even removing badges from people who were using the thing in the way it was originally intended, saying it was too easy to earn the badges - fair enough  but who put them there and set the parameters in the first place?

I think a better system of rating missions is needed. With the current method, the person in the largest supergroup or the one who has the largest number of 'friends' gets the highest number of votes so their mission shoots to the top of the list. Some of the highest scoring missions I've seen are some of the worse to play. With no ability to leave comments we are having to rely on people creating external websites to rate MA missions.

By far the worse problem though, in my opinion of course, is that the mission architect is available in virtually every zone including the starter zones for new players. Some of them are getting sucked into the thing and being powerlevelled and are in danger of missing out on the best parts of the game. I think the MA should be removed from Atlas Park and Galaxy City, at least give the new pleyers a chance to see a bit of the game as it was meant to be played before hitting them with that thing.

Releasing the mission architect to the player base  was a bold move, whether it not it will turn out to have been a good move we'll just have to wait and see.

i have never played any other game with some many bugs, Powers simply dont work or if you use them corrupt your character.

Pets are all broken, their AI is horrible, either they dont attack at all or they do mess up whole teams and missions.

So many powers arent doing what their describtion text says its a pain to play this game. Never mind if Rage crashs or whatever.

Pets AI is the worst i have ever seen in any mmorpg, they dont cycle through their powers, they often simply do nothing.

I have some issues with CoV and frankly I prefer CoH but I have never seen *any* of the problems you mentioned. I've never come across a power that didn't work and they've certainly never caused any corruption of any kind.

I got my MM to lvl 50 long before you posted your message and had NO problems at all getting the pets to do exactly what I wanted them to do. I still play that MM by the way and still haven't seen those problems.

I'm not sure what game you've been playing but it obviously wasn't the same City of Villians that  I was on...are you certain that you posted in the right forum?
