Delaying another month + moving to new server + flying programmers to epic's studio to try and fix the desync
General Discussion « Mortal Online 3/30/10 12:05:52 AM
Originally posted by Wizardry Great decision to delay. (OFF TOPIC) Wizardry, i love the GSP info. Dan Hardy looked like an idiot in there. Since gsp got upset by Matt Sera, he has not been the same. He used to be strike first, jujuitsu later. Now he is so wrestling oriented, you wouldn't even know he has a great stand up game, which he does. How the hell didDan get to a freaking championship match without being able to defend the takedown? Blame the fight promoter. Giving him fights tailored for his fighting style. He was screwed from day one. |

Question for the MO Community: Is it ok, for the development to release the game in its current state, if it gets patched up at a decent rate?

Yes. |

Originally posted by LuckyR My goodness friend. Did you seriously just type all of that out? Entertaining story but i don't see how it applies. I am not stupid for liking this game and neither would anyone else be if they played it as well. This is exactly what i was referring to. This is how much energy is being put into the propaganda of hate for this amazing game. |

Originally posted by HanoverZ Even better question.......... How many threads have been made to get people to stay away from this game? *Glances at first page of the Mortal Online General Discussion. I've added a small torch to the darkness of hate threads in this forum subsection. Try this game. You may like it. I'll defend this standpoint for as long as i choose. |

I'm up to the challenge. i won't be bullied or chased away. If this is my chance to sell the game i love... I want to point out that i already have. Re-read my first post. Notice the story i've told. I also mentioned the features i loved about it. Did you even read it? I believe its a short and quick summary, interesting enough, to draw in the players looking for this type of game. |

Originally posted by HanoverZ I would be playing whichever game i had tried first. I've already stated they are both great games. I went with the game i had invested the most time into. Again, bother are very fun sandbox games. Taking a line or two from a post of mine doesn't discredit my topic in one bit. No i have not purchased the game already but i plan to as soon as they finish beta. |

Originally posted by LuckyR OOPS sorry, my bad. If you came here trying to get people to play I can only add to that then. That's exactly why i made this thread. That kind of attitude. The game is not garbage. I won't buy into the sensationalism. The trend here to is to jump on board with other posters and bash a game, along with its developers, and anyone that may like said game being bashed.
I wont apologize. I like what i'm playing and if your voice can be heard, so can mine. |

Originally posted by HanoverZ Yes the game will get wiped when beta ends. I had still made more progression in comparison to Darkfall. Not hard to understand. Yes i do "LOVE MO" but that doesn't mean i can't try other games as well. Thanks to this website, they have made searching out and trying new games quite painless. That's the point of this website is it not? How do you find it so "odd"? |

Originally posted by LuckyR You assume every "new"/potential MO player, scolds the forums wondering if the developers are "arrogant asses". I certainly didn't. All i saw is new sandbox game. I tried it. I liked it. Alot of people i play with, not only don't frequent this site, but never visits the forums, period. Official or unofficial alike. Our voices may be small but the point of this thread is to ultimately draw in people who have been slightly influenced into not trying the game, due to all the negative threads that pop up, by the same few people, everyday. The water is fine: come on in. Mortal Online is a blast to play and i'm sure you will love it as well. |

Originally posted by HanoverZ I wont deny trying Darkfall. I did. I was on spring break and decided to try the 2 most controversial sandbox games on this website. That's exactly what i did. Just like then, i was completely honest with my critiques, as i am right now. I would probably be playing Darkfall over MO had i tried it before MO.
That's just how the dice rolls. I stayed with MO because the system was more familiar and i had made more progression. Both are great games. That is neither here are there. We're you trying to make a point somewhere? |

Title. I have never, ever, in my life, seen a small group of individuals (you know who you are) put in so much effort towards hating a game. Until now. MO has promised us change and entertainment. It is not a scam or a perfect product, but it is unique and quite enjoyable. Every time i visit these forums, hoping to have a discussion about this wonderful game i'm enjoying, all i can see is hate post after hate post. Always the same few individuals. THE GAME IS NOT AS BAD AS THEY SAY!!!!!!!!! Nor is it as broken or devoid of substance, or insert a number of things the band wagon haters have called it. Darkfall had it pretty bad but the supporters outnumbered the haters. Ran the "hardcore" forum critics away. I had my MO client up for 24 hours straight the other day. Yes you read that correctly. There we're more people than i could count online the entire time. I didn't crash the entire time. I wasn't hacked nor did i find anyone hacking. The skill system is refreshing and the crafting is absolutely top notch. The economy is not only booming, but regulated quite nicely by other players. Thieves run rampant and thieves getting killed runs rampant lol. I play a mage and i took on a murderer outside of town riding a horse. His horse and spear vs my spells, he ran me over and killed me pretty easily and took my loot (some decent armor). As i died i saw him killing other new players as well. This must be stopped i said to myself. I gathered a few friends and we chased him into the mountains. He managed to lose us with low health. As we searched deeper leading into the forest, we discovered someone "else" had finished our job. Another murderer.... We assumed he had my loot. We ran him down. Took him out. Got my loot back. That's life for you. I am absolutely loving this game. |

Update: Henrik to update us on Monday (March 29th) about the release... 2 days before announced launch...

Originally posted by rlmccoy1987 I didn't miss my mark. That's exactly what this thread is about. You want an update. (Glances at title) Okay. I would also like an "offcial" update myself, but i can also understand why there isn't one. You're an intelligent person rlmccoy, and you understand how this process works. MO isn't the first game to release out of the blue, because they had to hurry their game out, due to pressure from investors and publishers. I'm trying to keep this from sounding like a direct comment towards you, but..... This almost appears to be a troll post. Okay. There is no update but we can use common sense and figure out why. Do you play Mortal Online? Haven't you witnessed yourself how quickly a server is back up when it crashes. Witnessed the constant flow of communication from the devs or through their moderators? Nothing can be considered "unbearable" when it comes to a beta. Otherwise you are missing the point of beta. Rollbacks, check. Server crap itself, check. Devs busy re-writing last minute code for server optimization, you bet. |

First i want to say i love Mortal Online. (Wait. Keep reading.) I log in about 3-5 hours a day and send daily bug/exploit/glitch reports in and i am also active on the forums. They are indeed working hard on this game and round the clock i might add.
They are in constant communications with the players through the forums moderators. No. We have not recieved any word on release because hey, guess what: They are too busy working on the game. There is a steady stream of hot fixes and mini patches every week.
If i were in their shoes and release was this month, i'd be busy ironing out the kinks down to the very last second. Alot of open beta players i've come across are also doing their best to bring every issue we find to them as well.
Call me a fanboy or a supporter (not really sure how that could even be considered an insult) but i feel like this game will do just fine. I could careless if your need for being kept up to date every second isn't satiated. I for one don't require it. |

In Meduli, i have a few crafting buddies and we watch each other's back when we go out to mine or better yet, when we are using the grinder. A thief or grey flagged player thinks twice when he sees 3 players all pull out their swords and stare straight at him. A clan isn't "necessary" to play. That statement was pretty ridiculous. |

Google will make it happen. Cisco will continue to try and figure out how...... Besides. Something like what they are proposing would never go mainstream. Google at least is trying to take the ISP route. I signed my community up to be in the first test run. I doubt we'll get it though. =( |

Yep. i am enjoying that. Makes me blame myself if i loose a fight because i have access to same skills / weapons /armor then everyone else. Ahh i see what you did there. It becomes sort of a, use the right tool to get the job done, kind of thing. I have no doubt that it is effective. Maybe i'm letting my own prejudices get in the way but, i really "dont" want to have access to, and be excellent with, every skill. The specialization i read about seems extremely limited and situationally based. Not enough distinction in my book. Enough theory on my part. Gonna go play more and post less. See you in game. My name is "AntiMatter Explosion" Please Gank me. It hasnt happened yet. LOL!!!!

Sort of derailed your own thread with that last comment but i feel where you're coming from. I started in the wolf northern newbie town. (I can't remember town names yet.) In the few hours i've played, i saw one person run out of a nearby goblin cave.
I also have not been ganked (still have newbie protection on though.) But no one has even walked up next to me. As a matter of fact, I was so happy to see that guy run out of the cave that i started following him to town. I said hi a few times and was completely ignored. I'll keep going though. |

Originally posted by drumchannell I'm a little concerned about people learning every skill??? So everyone will know everything that i know and nothing separates me from them. I don't care about flashy armor but if i am using a bow and i see a mage, the mage can just whip out his own bow and match me shot for shot?
I actually don't want to be a jack of all trades. MO has caps. Eventually i will become a God that knows everything? WHat's up with that? People enjoy that? |
