News Discussion « General Discussion 6/12/09 5:10:22 PM
I think the screenshots look good. I am certain I will at least give the game a try. |

Originally posted by SEANMCAD your end game comment is just flat out stupid. People who get in this game to do nothing but max skills becuase they are afraid to die are losers.
but hey, thats just me Lets see, I have seen lots of people here stating that they wanted a skill based game cause there is no end game. In other games people rush to "End Game", because they think that is where the fun is. Since a skill based game is suppose to be fun from the start of making your character. So in that respect, yes, end game starts when you make your character. There was nothing said about grinding skills by me. So I don't know what you were applying that to. But it sure was a stupid post. |

Originally posted by SEANMCAD Now I really like what you say is needed to like Darkfall. However there are major differences in the list from Darkfall. Marrowind has more content. Darkfall is limited here. Pen & Paper is a sandbox. Darkfall is not. Darkfall is the "End Game" from the moment you make your character. Darkfall only has empty areas to explore. If you disagree with me show me a busy city or exciting dungeon. Show me wildlife to look at. Show me something worth while to explore. Just looking at trees and empty areas is not exploring to me. What benefits is there to having an empire besides ego. Not much really. To be immersed in the world you first have to have a living world. Not emptyness. So sorry to say. I think you are mistaken on what would make people like Darkfall. You like the game, fine. But the not everyone is you and while we may like some of the same things, it is possible we like them for very different reasons.

Since Rhinok had the same numbers on May 23rd. for clan members. It would appear that the game is stagnant. Now with that said, I find it hard to believe that for 3 weeks there is no movement in clan count at all. You would think if the game is getting new players that the clan count would go up. Maybe I'm reading to much into this. But it does not look good from where I sit. Especially if 50% of the population transfers to NA, and I have seen estimates that it would be higher. To have 2 servers with only around 9,000 players with the cost to run both would be the doom of this game. But that is just my opinion. |

I can't wait to make an Asmodian. I love how the eyes turn red in combat. |

Well personally I prefer the western sound effects. They sound more natural. I tried the beta this weekend for AION, and found I had to turn down the combat sounds. I found them a little over the top. They are not bad, mind you. They just don't make me feel fully immersed. The point is we all have different tastes, and no one taste is wrong. |

Here is the link. Although I would think twice before buying the game. It is your money. forums.darkfallonline.com/showthread.php I wish you luck. |

Lets see Shadow Odyessy $34.00 for the whole game including all expansions and adventure packs. Wow $39.99 for The Wrath of the Lich King. Just an expansion. Darkfall $53.00-$57.00 for a digital download, for half a game. Based on exchange rate. Seems like a deal to me. |

Yeah I was surprised to find I could read it. Most quests like that in other mmo's you can't read the book. It is the little things like this that I enjoy. So I'm hoping to see more. |

Just for info this is not a pre-view, although I'm sure most are playing it that way. Since you can only make one race, the Elyos it is a beta. I feel confident that the dev's are looking for feed back on the translation. Looking for misspelled words, how the quests are reading, do they show the lore etc. Over all though I am having fun in the game and not embarrassed to say so. |

Had a few hours of play today. My thoughts: I like the character creation. Lots of choices for making your character unique. I really enjoy the graphics. The world looks alive to me. I loved the fact that there a lot of players and I had no lag. It was fun just trying to see the quest givers with the mobs of people around them. I have enojoyed the quests themselves so far. At one point I had to take a book to one npc, and decided to see if I could read it, and sure enough I could. It was a 9 page book telling the lore of some harvesters. Was an interesting read. While most of the quests were go kill x amount. I enjoy reading the quests for the lore that they provide. While I had a few killsteals, I expected it so it didn't bother me to much, with as many players that were there it was bound to happen. I have made 3 alts so far a mage, Warrior and Priest. I had no kill steals as the priest. When I entered a new area i would go around healing everyone, then started for what I needed and it seemed like everyone backed off so I could have the mobs. I also like that I can buy my spells/combat arts, for higher levels and then be able to scribe them when I get to that level. Saves a lot of time running to the trainers when you level. My only dislikes so far is the controls. I deactivated click to move now the left mouse button is useless. plus I really don't like having to hit shift+right mouse button to free look while running. I am sure I will get use to it though. My other gripe is the coin. I would prefer having different denominations than just gold. Over all I am impressed by the polish of this game. I think I will be pre-ordering this one.

EQ2 guys, why is this better than Vanguard?
The Tavern (General) « Everquest II 5/30/09 9:49:45 PM
I agree with Sortis. Try the trials for both games and decide for yourself which one you like. Now I admit I am biased. I have both games installed and have station pass so I can play both and I do. How ever when I play Vanguard, I can only last an hour or so playing. I really hate the look ov the characters. To me they look like they don't belong, or they were after thought and that turns me off. The game world is beautiful and fun to play at least for short bits for me. I love EQ2. I like the look of the world, my characters feel like the belong there. There is tons of content. You can level as fast or as slow as you want (Want to take your time, diasble combat and quest xp). You have more class choices, and with alternate achivement make them unique. That is my thought on the subject anyways. Good luck in oyur decission. |

I am glad your enjoying it so far. The thing is you still did research. For you it was worth trying it. For others it will turn them off. Each their own. I have learned to read between the delusions on both sides. There is always truth there. It may be hard to find, but it is there. Anyways good luck playing, I hope it is what you have been looking for. |

The problem with people like you is you miss the essential details that make the difference between fact, fiction, and wild exaggeration.
FYI, i do not lie or exaggerate, if i'm guessing at something i indicate it, unless it's already patently self-evident to an intelligent reader. the problem is, many readers here are not.
I Know what you ment in the other post and already corrected it. So since I spend time in the official forums as I do here, I have read that roll backs do occur so this will not be the first time. So either you are misinformed or you are lying. I'll let the people here decide. If your just misinformed I apologize for saying you lied in this case. |

Originally posted by javac I couldn't disagree more. I think most players that are not willing to try the game are not misled by the so called haters. I am sure most of us that have been following this game can see the bull crap coming from both sides of the fence. We also know how to read between the lines to get the basic truth. You and the other fans are just as guilty of misleading as any so called hater. Often when someone points out a negative you guys try to spin it. If someone states a positive you guys blow it out of proportion, trying to make it bigger than what it is. A lot of the fans here plain right out lie also. Case in point. From another thread. www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/post/2857931#2857931 You said it was the first time the server was reset after the server went down. Well everyone knows this is not the truth. So the ones not willing to try Darkfall are the ones that have done their research. Read what each side had to say, watched the videos on You tube and then came to the conclusion not to try it.
