They'll probably won't be able to do it any worse than MOO 3 imo

MOO 3 was a mess when you are talking about the user interface of the game... despite the fact that MOO series in general are good games

The simple fact that there are games that have the capability to make whales and have a casino style system to begin with is wrong.

The world has the capability to make whales. Success in real life is often times also a gamble.

Games just emulate life. That's what game has been, that's what games always will be - it is merely an entertaining way of practicing different specific/topical aspects of life.

Whale? Not sure

Dolphin? Maybe

Certainly, the aforementioned vision requires time to implement and patience to optimize. We are counting on all our players to support us during these times of great challenges. We are looking at building synergies with a partner that will not focus on the next ten years but on the next one hundred years.

100 years? lol wtf?

Who do they think they are? the Rothschild? the Hapsburgs? lol

Game makers trying to create a dynasty... imagine that :P

I just dont see any good reason to be reviewing something when you can see for yourself it's unfinished

Good reason 1: to call them out and shame them into not charging people for beta, or at least charge a fair price, not a full release price.

Good reason 2: GW says it is finished. Reviewing them is calling them out on that claim.

And this is why we can't have nice things...

I'm not sure H1Z1 or Smed can be classified as "nice things"... otherwise I would've agree with you

So they basically went back on the main selling point of the game. Firefall did the same exact thing. Hey look massive open world pvp....or maybe not because it is expensive and we can't do it. I think the devs have known for awhile that they over promised on this project, but they wanted to sell founders packs. This is why I stopped doing any crowd-funding or pre-ordering. I still might try this game out post release, but my expectations just got a lot lower.

That wasn't even what they are talking about... it seems like you didn't even read the story or watched the video.

Because these days the time it takes to learn a game can't be too much greater than the time it takes before you start enjoying it.

Otherwise people will just give up.

This isn't work you are talking about mate. It is a GAME. You are not trying to learn Brazilian Jujitsu or something here.

1. They will increase in value or *shocker* they will NOT. Will you start riots if your watch hasnt increased in value rofl

Of course, you can buy a watch with FAITH it will increase in value, nobody guarantees anything. Now....hmmm....what is that similar to?

2. You havent corrected anything. In fact you suggest spending even MORE money, LOT MORE money on that same watch (which isnt worth the money in the first place)

1. What would anyone start a riot over any purchased goods? What is even your point here? I was merely pointing out that watch can go up in value if it is a classic, so it is not a good example in your case, which, is a fact. Electronic goods (not talking about items in game, but the game itself) on the other hand will never increase in value, unlike tangible items.

I'm not sure what's your point of "riot" has any relevance as I never mentioned such a thing. I have specifically pointed out I agreed with what you guys are trying to say but the example that was used was not good for this particular case.

2. Rare watches worth money to start with because of the fact that the rare ones are made using rare metals and crystals and the workmanship is expensive, is soughtafter and is very hard to be replicated (as I said, like jewelry). If we go by your definition you can also say that Mona Lisa is a piece of junk too, however, that is not the case.

Electronic goods can never have the same level of value maintained simply because it can be easily replicated and reproduced, regardless of how good the workmanship is.

I don't know why you feel the need to argue for the sake of arguing. Your point about the main topic of the thread is right, people are agreeing with you (including myself) but I'm just saying your use of example was wrong (which is a fact). I wasn't arguing with you. I was pointing out a glaring mistake (which it was, as there seems to be much confusion in your case between physical vs electronic goods, which definition and pros and cons has been well define for more than 20 years in the IT industry now).

People who spend $500 on watches do so because of the perceived prestige that goes along with it, same thing with expensive clothes, cars, etc. Which is the same thing as being a $500 backer on a kickstarter game, the perceived prestige. People tend to equate money with power and prestige. Why buy a $60,000 BMW when a $15,000 car will perform the same function of getting you from point A to point B...and with many of the same features.

Additionally, physical objects all lower in value over time, unless it is something that is considered collectible or has an equitable value (like property). A $500 watch isn't going to retain it's value if you attempt to sell it later down the road, unless it's a watch that wasn't mass manufactured and was created solely for collectible value.

No sorry watches can increases in value overtime (because they are considered collectible or jewelry), especially if youa re talking about the likes of Tag Heuers or Bvlgaris.

And then you drop your watch into the sea and you just lost 500$ and hav NOTHING except raging feeling and what not.

I paid 1000$ for training for solo parachute jump. All i have is a fond memory of it.

WTF are you going on about lol

Actually you are also wrong on that, watches are considered jewelry. They can be insured.

Sorry to correct both of you on this because your points are valid and I agree with them, just that you are wrong on the semantics and on this particular example.

Let's see if it beats the War Z

War-Z is so bad they had to change the name again (Now called Romero's Aftermath) because all that were left playing it were the 300 hackers.  I'm not happy about companies charging for what is essentially alpha/beta access but in no way do I feel this game deserves a War-Z level score.  I feel the CEO has a solid vision (but with some flaws) and they want to truly make a good product.  In no way do I feel that Pathfinder is the scam that War-Z-Infestation-Aftermath is.

I don't think anything at the moment deserves a WarZ score.

WarZ is actually a scam. At least games like PFO or Mortals Online or Darkfall tries to make something, despite their state.

So I purchased in PFO just to test the game yesterday and I used the 4 letter word in a Full Loot PVP game, which I deem to be hard-core and was immediately told by players not to curse.

"Hardcores" don't need to swear - because by definition they are already pro, things just become natural to them through experience and practice.

If you feel the need to swear that means you already fxxked up somehow ;)

I mean, you don't see Mayweather or Pacquiao saying FFS throughout their fights, lol :P

You misheard!  He said customers aren't recruiting enough new players to pay for his Alpha Romeo 4c.

I kid!  I kid!

Alpha Romeo 4c is sub $70k usd, if he can't even afford that on his normal CEO wages than I guess he shouldn't even be CEO :P

I think in a way he is right. It is just very difficult for people from the mmorpg generation these days to sit for hours on end to play these days.

Likelihood is the only one that can be successful from this point on are either high-intensity short sessions mmo (open world pvp but not persistent), or low-intensity long session mmo (ie. empiring building, relaxing pve, or crafting type of mmo) where you can watch tv, make phone calls, cook food etc do multiple things at a time.

Long sessions high intensity (ie. open world pvp persistent mmo or 20-40 man organised raids, etc) are just not ideal anymore because people just don't have to time for it and when they do they want to play something less stressful, not more stressful.

Is it greed or hubberous that makes the CEO want to push this game in its current state?  An overwhelming amount of backers who are loyal to the game agree that it is not currently worth a sub fee and bringing in new players now will only alienate them from playing later on when the game is possibly in a playable condition.  Why dont suits listen?  Greed or Hubberous?

I believe it is neither.

CEO are sometimes like lawyers. They think they know better than us plebs and can debate their way out of it.

You see a lot of this type of behaviour if you can ever stand to stay awake and watch those congressional hearings on C-Span.

They just think they are not wrong and knows better.

That's the huge problem with games like Star Citizen et al. They're poisoning the well quite efficiently with their greed.

Wasteland 2 was a great game. The Shadowrun games are awesome. Pillars of Eternity is also a brilliant game.

But then you have Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous pissing all over everyone's parade by either being greedy profiteers or by giving us a 2 inch thick, 1 mile wide sandbox that lacks any compelling motivation to keep playing.

It's really quite disgusting.

Agreed with you except for that part in red... that's just reaching.

Elite Dangerous is fine and they haven't even tried to money grab by selling any ships (or even anything much in their store at all). They are pretty much exactly what they aimed to be. So I actually considered them delivered.

BBC Watchdog should look at Trion's business practice rather than Blizzard. They are looking at the wrong company.

In principle, you may be right, but Trion is too trivial to take note of. Can you be sure they will even be in business five years from now?

I agree.

I was just saying if any gaming company, they should look at Trion because they malpracticed way harder than Bliizard, not saying it was good business sense or whjat not for BBC to do so.

BBC Watchdog should look at Trion's business practice rather than Blizzard. They are looking at the wrong company.

This is one of the reasons why I say you should wait and not rush out to buy this game at release.

E:D is not really the type of mmo that is going to be "super-popular" anyways that requires "wait and see".

It is not a game of a toon walking around collecting gears and doing quests, ie. common and easy to understand.

I think it is either you are going to like it or dislike it right away. Not everyone likes space sims (especially siming at the level that E:D is doing). Just like flight sims and mech sims, you either like it or dislike the genre as a whole to start with.

It is not like Star Citizen where it is a space opera game and people may like operas if they try it.

In another words, E:D is math and physics. SC is art.

I think the drop offline mode is more because of consistent universe (since the universe is grown by the system, not created planet by planet by the developers) more than any monetary reasons.

If there is an offline mode that means the universe will be grown only locally to you and the stations the you see and the goods that you see being sold by the station when you switch between online and offline will be vastly different.

Right now when you switch between solo and multiplayer mode there is no difference because you are still seeing the same universe, just not other players is all.
