I played 3 hours and barelly got level 4 so I don't know what you mean? I don't just jump in a new game without checking all options and setting but I guess you're so smart that in 30 minutes you hit level 15 in a brand new game to you....

edit: this race to level up it's the problem of every mmo lately it's not the game it's the way most everyone plays....race race race to level up WTF chill TF down! word!

Your post makes absolutely no sense.

This game was designed so you could level quickly, with the leveling process being essentially a 'tutorial' to the sandbox.

You get to level 2 from turning in the first quest.

You can get to level 12 if you aren't speeding in less than two hours, easily.

From the get go Jake Song designed the leveling experience this way.

other than that TESO but its quite underperforming and the combat is really nothing compared to TERA.

IMO, Tera has better targetting than ESO, but ESO has way better combat. The problem with ESO combat is, again, the targetting, effectively making it a tab target game hiding behind a reticle. Tera has really good targetting but the combat, oh god... i dont want to see an other game with such poorly implemented ¨action¨

Wait, huh?!

How is TERA's targetting better than ESO, or even visa versa. They are literally the same thing (retical based with option lock-on). I know the combat behaves quite differently between the two, but that's not the same as the targetting mechanism.

No, you can tab target in ESO...

I have a key to give away to someone who will play with me (NA Server)

Looking for more people to party up with and do both PVP and PVE with.

I am a member of a large clan on the NA server.  We accept new players and are very helpful to them, we're very active.

Prefer someone who has a bit of free time as the main purpose of this post is to find more people to group with for dungeons and sieges.

I told myself I wouldn't play this game again unless they got rid of the enormous useless and annoying circle in the middle of my screen, blocking the view of archery and just looking out of place.

Is it still there?

New patch, it's customizable!

I have buddy keys maybe... :-p

ZERG is recruiting, NA Clan.

Hah!

I hope they go back to the mechanics of 4 or 6.

I agree 13 and 10 sucked though.

Also, for 15 they are using a combat style that has been in square enix games for a long, long time.

The director of 15 is the same guy who made... THE BOUNCER, and KINGDOM HEARTS.

So yeah the combat is not 'god of war' like, 15 is just made by one of their many teams (they have a lot of teams at square enix, not just one)  This is something this team does all the time with all of the games they make, so it makes complete sense.

Research is important.

Sucked for you. I enjoyed the shit out of X and several times again years later.

XIII was okay. It felt like playing a movie mostly.

XII is the one I couldn't get past...maybe once it's remastered or something. *looks at modded PS2* I can always fire it up though.

10 and 13 are pretty much the same level of bad.  :-(

Story was weak and it was the beginning of the 'play a movie' phase for SE.

The day they decided to turn this game into a F2P cash out and in the process target the non-combat population with a inhibitor (labor points) was the day AA lost its place as a contender for me. We already have various mmos that take econs (players that focus more on in-game economies) for granted and when I finally thought that a game would surface to allow me the freedom to focus on this, they decided to burden me with non-combat limits and saddle me with their F2P model. For shame really I was so looking forward to getting a sub and living out my days unimpeded by their cash shop.  Oh well, good luck to all you guys that still enjoy it.

I feel the same way. Very disappointing.

Yeah, sure, the game has the depth it has now, but lets see how deep players take the game when access to that depth is blocked by pay-walls.

What pay walls exactly? Labor points and limited plots?

Isnt that enough? It only takes 1 item to break the game.

To say nothing of the fact that I have asked a simple 2 part question many times now and have yet to see it answered.

IsRMT to Gold conversion possible? And How much advantage will having alot of gold early on in the game's release give? (Specifically for establishing guild's power bases not so much for the individual players)

You can buy labor pots, they give you labor points, which you can normally only earn by TIME SPENT.  You get twice as much labor per 5 minutes if you are logged in as you do if you are logged out, and you get more labor if you are a subscriber than if you are not.

Seems pretty pay to win.  You can spend money to get some advantage in game that others can only get by spending time, which you also then could spend.

Labor Points are like Oil, a lot of things require them, including identifying items.

There IS a cool down on the labor pot of 12 hours, thankfully.  So I mean they are limiting the pay to win, albeit only slightly.

People are already talking about having multiple accounts logged in at the same time to get a lot of extra labor points (you can spend your points to help craft other peoples houses / ships)  They are sayin that if they subscribe on their 2nd account it will give them an even larger advantage.

This all seems extremely advantageous to Trion, they get to encourage people to spend as much time and money on their game as they can to get ahead.

Maybe the fact that it's a subscription game (with an unlimited free trial) disguised as a free to play game where they sell in game advantages (labor pots)

Just guessing.

Because what the majority of players have been trained to do for the last 10 years is follow  this

!

I read these "mini ArcheAge reviews" posts where players are giving ArcheAge like 3/10 and just cringe how utterly ignorant they are about the real game that they completely missed.

But the game is NOT for an individual solo quester - ArcheAge is a guild game, a social game at heart - so your average MMO solo player who plays along other players but never actively *with* other players would not really see the real game anyway.

Seems more like the game's problem having itself designed thus.

Been waiting on ArcheAge for 7 years, and after trying it out, i went and tried out Darkfall for the first time.  I'm now happily subscribing to DF, a game that I consider superior in game play and design, even with all it's bugs, problems, and horrible management.

Which I think speaks volumes about ArcheAge.

Plenty of people won't get past the first 5 minutes because of it's schizophrenia design.

OP,

I dont think people are saying that AA is not a Sandbox, but its more of a Sandpark than a Sandbox.  I got that feeling from the minute I stepped into the Beta.  The game right away felt as a game on Rails.  That bored me fast because I have played UO and SWG and I can be dropped in a random city in the game and learn my way.  I dont need the rails because I been there done that.  I think what the core problem is, is that the game is on rails until later into the game and you really dont get a chance to see it early.  Most players who enjoy sandboxes enjoyed Starting somewhere and not having a preset path.

This, 1000 times this.

Was very turned off by the linear questing start.

Been playing Darkfall instead now, way more what I had hoped ArcheAge would be.

So you're saying that you can't just go out to some area with level appropriate mobs and farm without doing quests in AA.

Thats all you're saying by mentioning darkfall, because the only difference is that AA allows you to do quests if you want, and DF is only now in the process of writing up quests (they even asked the players to submit their own to be added to the game) for people that don't want to just go out and kill with no purpose other than raising stats.

World is very linearly designed for the beginning.  I got to level 12 before I was tired of doing quests on a very narrow canyon.  Which I can't believe how fast I got to level 12... it only took about 3 hours.

Also...  http://massively.joystiq.com/2014/06/29/you-could-write-the-next-darkfall-quest/

Lol

Character animations are some of the best in the biz.  Your character never 'feels like it's sliding' you are playing a different game clearly.

Also, being upset because the game has loading screens for zoning?  It's very standard for many MMOs, I would think you should perhaps adjust your expectations as they seem a bit unreasonable.

This game is the most polished theme park out there, it seems you don't like theme parks by the way your describe not liking their quest design, I feel FFXIV had some of the more clever ways to take you through the story, and in fact is one of the only games that makes me want to go back and find out how it progresses as the patches continue it.

I disagree entirely with your review, and I don't even play the game any more.

Edit: I just re-read it, you mention cut and paste landscape, you CLEARLY are talking about FFXIV the first time around, not ARR.  Sorry that was a dead give away.

I dont care for the hate, everyone has their opinion and they can take it personnal or not i dont care.

Hey i paid this turd 150 and one month after i am done with it, i wont even try 1.2.

The game simply isnt worth it, in fact i waited what, 1 month to write this so much i didnt care? But seeying people defending this game on this forum made me sick to watch....

Go define p2w....with an entry fee of 150 for a free to play game... bunch of....ah. Game is bad guys, its that bad.

WRONG

Released game won't have an entry fee,

Here is what $150 closed alpha gets you

$150 - gives you 3 months of sub ($45) + $75 of in-game funds + outfits glider and other "fluff"

So Alpha is really $30 - the rest of it you get credit for.

But yeah go ahead and spread complete misinformation

I feel like this thread should have stopped here.

DMK, good work, the thread is yours.

Well after DA2 wasn't going to bother with this. This video just reminds me even more of why I'm not going to buy this. I remember when DA was DA, now it just looks even more like a wannabe Witcher. Well guess I'll just wait for Witcher 3 to come out. At least they know something about consistency.

Had a good laugh off the video though. This is the Dragon Age game we always wanted to make. So you didn't want to make a spiritual successor to Baulders Gate originally. You just wanted to chase Witcher's coat tail. Shit why didn't you just say that from the start. Could have never made DA1 just started with DA2, and gotten yourself on the road to being a Witcher style game that much faster.

Thank you for the video Mr Laidlaw and Bioware. I know my series is dead now. Why don't you talk to Disney about making a new KOTOR game, but instead of making it a RPG. You make it a MOBA, or better yet a Dragon Age MOBA. Since you want to be just like CD Projekt & Witcher. They are making a MOBA, and you want to be just like them right.

As a fan of both Witcher and DA and having read all the books of both, i just got to ask.

Where the hell do you see Bioware trying to be like the Witcher in this game?

Agreed, I don't see any similarity.

Cool guild, would apply if I was on your server.

One minor critique.  You cannot use a modifier with the word 'unique'.  Something cannot be 'the most unique' or 'extremely unique'  Unique means one of a kind.  You can't be any more or less one of a kind.

Sorry it's just one of my pet peeves.

Wish you the best.

Seriously, they are gone, I know this because I got one. They were gone in less then a minute and yes they used the same page as the first giveaway. A button came up at the bottom of the screen and you clicked and it gave you a key. Sorry guys if you missed out.

The only thing that is sorry is how the only people who got keys are brand new accounts who never have heard of this site or posted before this year.

Shame.

Wanna bet its not just new accounts? a lot of them are also our regular WOW haters on their alt accounts to snatcha  key.

True, as I said on the last giveaway, most of these people are ultra toxic and insist WoW is the anti-mmo.  Yet here they are when there is a new beta for it.

:-p

Oculus is already dead in the water. Last thing we need is facebook monitoring everything we're doing when we're NOT on facebook. And security/privacy holes aside, there's some nicer looking competition out there. I'm betting on ANTVR. Chinese or not, I've seen a couple tech demos of it, and Oculus is stone age in comparison.

Facebook already does that.  Seriously, it does.  If you didn't know this then I don't know what to tell you.

OR is not dead in the water, it sold 100k copies of a thing that isn't even a consumer version yet.  An Alpha version of something selling 100k is insane.  Literally mind bogglingly amazing numbers.

VR is the future, and the OR is one of the many head sets that will pioneer the way.

Scorpio.

Yet I only tank.

Not accurate for me :-p
