Answer me this: didn't Bethesda sue Notch for his use of the name "Scrolls"?

I'm not saying it is or it isn't an easter egg, but I'd think this little gem would need to be factored into the endless nerd raging going on in this thread.

Parent company did and the item might have been in prior to that. Also I believe that the main dev of Bethesda is good friends with Notch. Whatever of not a reference, I doubt the lawsuit has anything to do with it. If it did it might still have gone both way and this might be the developers subtle way to telling Notch they still love him and that there lawyers are dicks.

At this point the only response available is that you're probably wrong. It is more likely to be an Easter Egg than not.

Offcourse it is an eastern egg, the question is whatever it's a minecraft reference.

I would like to hear suggestions on what it references, if not Notch and Minecraft.

Eastern egg does not has to be a reference at all ;) I am not mixing myself into the discussion whatever or not it a reference to minecraft. Both posibilities are just as likely to me.

Already been admited.  Please read above.  Still doesn't refute my logic which is stronger than the wants of people that want this to be an easter egg.  That's reality.

If you really though about it logical you would come to the conclusion that you really do not know whatever or not this is a reference unless you actually work at the company.

I do not know myself. I do know I enjoy the senseless discussions about it. Who cares, it's an awsome game.

And perhaps that is Bioware's problem.  If their space combat was going to be this, why bother using the STAR wars branding at all?  Its akin to hacing Luke blow up the death star with a grenade while being part of the rebellion's SEAL team that sneaks aboard.

Indeed because the majority of the movies also are about Space combat as well!

oh wait

It one company and second you not going to get test result when most of your testers are playing an other game. Let's face it, most poeple will pick SWOTOR over this.

I am surprised we are getting the full game for beta, realistically if there are only 3 days of beta, surely there will be a limit as to high you can level in that time?

Limitation might just be a server setting. All the files could still be on the hard-drive and you might have some extra file in there like data-collection and testing tools that in full release would not be installed.

Seriously? It never ceases to amaze me how people complain about anything no matter what devs do. Usually gamers complain about Devs not listening to the community when creating a game. And now here are players complaining that the devs will fail for doing it? Wow, just wow.

and thus proofing the point that listning to a community is bad :P But serious getting feedback from a community is not bad, just make sure you stick to your own core ideas and features.

Only one thing that seems to bother me and not even sure if it's really there...Remove the damn Fallout sound from the slow-mo finishing moves. I just keeping hearing that sound and just does not feel right.

Actually, it was confirmed back in June 2011 that ArenaNet had 270 employees. Up goes that average staff count.

A-net employ count does not equal developers. Image how many accountants, secretaries, cleaners, copy boys and other support staff such a company has. Not saying his numbers are right, but just saying 270 employees is not the same as actualy developers.

If you got these numbers so incredibly wrong i'd also be inclined to believe that the other numbers for other games are way off too, although maybe you only researched them so im unsure.

2 year pre-production + 4 year of developerment = 6 year total

2005 + 6 years = 2011

2011 = this year

Unless the development time of his includes the pre-production.

Does RipperX have a cold? His voice sounds normal and thus less epic. :O

They just need to do better and make it so games cant be pirated. If they cant do that then tuff shit. Calling it a crime is a joke.

Get better programmers. If the pirates are too smart and keep finding ways to crack games then fire the moron that calls himself a programmer and hire the pirates. Those pity commercials about pirating software are pathitic. It's even more pathitic to find out that some people fall for that crap. "oh they stole it" ..."Oh they should be paid for their hard work" Pathitic brainwashing by big companys..guys making millions and some sheep still say "they should get paid for thier hard work".

WHAHAHA either you trolling or have absolutly no idea what you talking about. I am sure that even the Pantagon can be hacked if people REALLY where dedicated to do so. There is not such thing as making something completly save. In fact the more money they seem to invest into trying this the more people they piss off and turn them into pirates, because they end up not playing the game while the pirate are.

Anti-piracy does not work that good. It just cost money in my opinion although some people might buy the game if they do not want to wait for a cracked version after release I doubt they gain more money from those sales then they payed for the anti-piracy. Especially the always online feature, they actually need to have a server running constantly and have people on standby to fix it. Only costing the company money yet at the same time people are happily playing the same game illigaly.

Also it are the lobbyist group that are the big screamers. Most developers really do not care to much about it, while annoying and a easy scapegoat toward the investory and stockholders it in general does not harm them much and in fact might increase sale.

The problem is not the pirate, but the publishers. While downloading game simply is wrong (by law. We could discuss if it really is morally wrong, especially if you would not have payed for the product anyway) the publisher does make gaming easier as a pirate every time they "invent" a new way to protect themselves from pirate.

The newest settlers is a good example. While myself and plenty of other consumers where being pissed of duo connection issues and the likes, the pirates where happily playing the game. Also the way games are released. Delaying a release in a region makes people download the game offcourse they do they really want to play the game and with the logetivity of the games released these day a lot of people finished the game before it even released in there region.

Developers/publishers need to start to think instead. Take the new Airline tycoon 2 game. It first released in US, then in some geman speaking countries and then in the rest of europa and then days later it will be release digitally worldwide. How does this make any sense at all? Why would you not release everything at the same time (It all the same company releaseing it, just sister companies doing it in the respective region, so world wide release should be  possible). Offcourse people will download the game illigally then.

I am not saying it's ok people are doing it, but that you KNOW people will do it. Why not simply check if you can improve things internally to get more real consumers instead of trowing up blockades that only seem to harm your consumers as hacking/cracking group will find a solution rather sooner then later. Not even sure with game it was, but I can even recall where the developer advised to get a cracked executable instead...might have been an indy-game.

Clearly the end of the world would only delay the game and prospone this date. Pretty sure THQ is big enough to have plans for fires, tornado's, tsunami's, big astroid distroying the world and power outage.

Red door is a rather wierd name for such a service, then again if you think about it so is steam and Origin. We will see how this one is gonna work out, but I think we have enough of these services already. Then again maybe it's good for the established website and service to get more competition. The prices on steam are rather steep

I seriously never understood the hate for this developer.

I went to a resturant before because the outside of the store looked nice, ordered an appetizer and it was quite good. When my entree came out I discovered it wasnt that great and the staff had low to mediocre service.  I never returned to the restaurant.

Not sure why some people research the owner of the resturant and sit outside the restaurant in thier tye-dye banging bongos, picketing and boycotting the place and always  speaking of suing the place(but never doing it).  Its just weird on that end.

Ive played MO, had fun for a while, found out the company wont fix bugs and allows exploits, and quit playing... never looking back.

PS-(Dont insert some lame response about how you went to a restaurant and got food poisoning and had a retarded baby and its all Henricks fault).

This is a forum and I find this thread a very interesting an relevant discussion regarding the liability of the CEO and board to the shareholders. This discussion is from an shareholder point of view not that of a regular player. So the analogy of your is incorrect.

Not sure how it is in his country, but I believe in the majority of countries the CEO is BY LAW responsible of properly running his company and can be sued if he mismanaged the company. Poeple invest the money, there not giving it away, they have certain rights and the CEO of a public company is responsible to maintain a healty company.

example: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2367786,00.asp#fbid=vclVfbZEXSm - "a group of shareholders have filed suit against the company's board, alleging, among other things, gross mismanagement and waste of corporate assets." So accoding to this arrticle even the whole board.

Like I said though are the laws different there?

Maybe I'm reading this wrong but it sounds like Webzen won this to me. I will have to agree that webzen is crap though and i think it was only for korea or something like that.

No they lose (or a draw win-win agreement for both). While they might still get some profit from there investments, but I doubt it would be as big if they would have kept the publishing/marketing rights and what not. Red5  got what it wanted and that is Webzen out of there lives, pretty sure they realised they had to pay the money back anyway.

are u srs? Do headphone break that easily? It was 80 dollars and i bouht it 3 months ago.... I wasn't using it all the time I barelly used it at night when I was watching movies.

It are just a buch of tiny wires that are especially "exposed" in area where they enter the headset or a volume control thingy. That is where mine is broken right now. Opened it up and lose wires in the control so must he a broken cable, because shifting it around fixes my issues. I only miss part of the sound, usuallly thing like voices so seems to be to be just one cable. There are stronger cables though, but got one and that one just got broken as fast as anything else.

However like someone said check you warrenty, although it was your own fault it might be true in your country that the business in question has to proof that prior to some period of warranty (legal warranty) else you could always see how much it cost you to repair it. I do not believe replacing the plug should be costly.
