WHAHAHAHA I love the wording. "Closed beta extended" sounds a lot more positive then "Open beta/release delayed" :P

Atleast the PR department is sharp enough ;)

"How do I, as a developer, convince you that beta means BETA?"

Well do not start the beta 2 weeks before the game is suppose to release :P, by then it fair to assume you not really beta testing, but more or less stress testing. I play a lot of beta's, but have to shamefull admit that I hardly every beta tested a game. Only when I really loved the game and actually felt being involved I did write down bugs, tested the bugs and tried to break things and write detailed report.

One of the things I noticed was some proper bug reporting tool to make your more involved. So see "your" bug being bumbed up the ladder and being worked on give me a sense of "purpose" and feel like your really doing something. To me writing something on a forum on the fault of a game does not make me feel involved and because of the 1000s of people doing it, I find it hard to discuss of add to them. While with a good bug tracker tool you could search for the bug or if you failed to find it the developer will most likely link them and then you could add to it, give your side of the story and more information.

So in short simply make people feel more like a tester and less then a monkey that just types report 100s of other monkey also type.

- oeps that was quote instead of edit

Just out of my ass but you know what i mean.

The development time might increase , but it will not become more complex that much really (well doing it now after the release makes it a lot more complex), but a lot of systems would still work the same. In fact I image you could easily create a system that let's you create new factions without changing any of the other core system whenever you want, but simply a button press (well and offcourse by adding classes, ranks, whatever). I however am no game designer, but do understand programming, but does not seem to complex to me.

1.1.0c Patch Notes - 1/28/2012

General

    • Improved service to reduce the number of player disconnections to the character selection screen.

So a 5 hr + downtime at peak EU times and also affecting many US players play shedules for THAT,  pray tell me why that couldnt wait till tuesday.

I bet if you where one of the those people who got disconneted you be happy you finially could make use of a product you payed for? You know instead of having to wait an other weekend or would you be like "OMG now all those people can not play for 4-5 hours on there friday. Sad for them I simply prefer not to play this weekend so they do not have to find something else to do on there friday."

An mmo that was release a month ago is having a 5 hour down time, this is unheard of and completely unacceptable, what has this genre come too?

Trion where banging out hotfixes like they where going out of fashion in the early days. The great thing was they would only take 20 minutes or so. There full blown patches only had servers offline for an hour maybe two. Not sure why the hell BW takes so long to do anything 6-8 hours is not uncommon.

It's not simply just a small client patch I guess, but they prolly also patched the server software and maybe even tinkerd with the hardware.

Wurm is a massive time sink with no benefit really to a starting player and all the old players are the only ones that are making a profit and playing economy off of you and most of that is very limited as it is.

That is not true, we joined the game once with a group of people. We called ourselves the Mexicans as we would be willing to take any job really. At one point we where called upon by one of the richest and most expirience players as he was stuck in his mine, without a pickaxe to dig himself out or you could simply join a already established city or simply try to survive on your own.

I once set out to create my own farm, while I did had some outside help by getting some tools to get me started, the rest I did myself. Create the other things I needed, mined, leveled the ground, created the buildings, buid the fence and grow the crops. Maybe early on you can not play the economy, but neither can you in Xsyon.

To the OP: Anyhow Wurm online can be played (limited) for free, so simply give a try. If you like the crafting part, you might also give ATITD a shot. It has not fighting though.

While I dislike using Xfire, I think it's usuable for this, but I do not really see a peak on the friday. Infact the last monday had 2000 more logged xfire hours then the friday before that. While overall the fridays are more active, it's not a peak or something unlike the saterday and sundays. So really do not see a problem with this, planning on a other day might have been better, but when I play a game, I would prefer to have a patch before the weekend so I can enjoy the new features/bug fixes instead of after the weekend.

Release date for Guild Wars 2? Simple really. "WHEN IT'S READY"

Whahahahaha I would love to see a investors response to that line. "Oh when we believe we can have the game done? uuh when where ready?" ;)

All I though was "Not really a good secret when people make use of it"

A company like Blizzard will never die, they'll just evolve if it ever came to that, which it probably won't.

Blizzard would make a great publisher, don't you think guys?

Gaming industry is just like a sea of fish. The big companies eat the small one. If ever blizzard would fail and become small (With I doubt though) some bigger fish be ready to simply swallow the whole thing.

WoW has 6 or 7 years under its belt.  When WoW launched there were three raids with no guild banks.  Or dungeon finder. Or PVP queueing.  Or many of the countless other features you all seem to expect from every new MMO.

Maybe but SWTOR is not competing with WoW 7 years ago, but with WoW now and my choice is not whatever to play WoW from 7 years ago or SWTOR, but WOW now.

Do not get me wrong I would still pick SWTOR, but it kinda irrelivent with what the compitition launched with. It's about what the compitition has now.

For instance me!

I've been on the boards as early as may 2003, yet under my icon it says "NOVICE MEMBER", sure i don't post on every friggin' meaningless whine post that pops on the forums to climb up on "posts"

Time spent on the forums should mean something, instead of spamming on every post that pops on the main site.

I've mainly posted on stuff i thought would mean something or give constructive comments on matters.

I personally feel wronged, when i'm considered  a "novice user" even tho i've been playing MMORPG's for almost 2 decades (which is half more than most people on the boards have been ALIVE), thus i consider that being a mark of something more than just a "novice"

2coppers at ya. please troll and flame me if i'm thinking outta my buttcrack. ( if a kid comes at me on the streets, i just tell em how things are and they usually let it be, if they don't, they'll know what they bargained for.)

Check your title now! :)

I bet he is sittting there right now like "WTF this was not as gratifying I expect it to be...it seems it really is just a title after all.". I personally do not give a rats ass about titles and shit. It is about the content of your post. If someone want the title king of the forums he can have it for all I care. His post will not change regardless.

I do find it odd though that someone believe his title on a forum should change because has been playing MMO's for over 2 decades. You know as well as I do that your skills only increase while using the skill, clearly you have not used the forum skill long enough to be more then a novice user in the use of forums.

one-hit kills.

a warrior with a two-handed axe hits a rogue in no armour, and te rogue takes a quart of damage? nuh-uh. that rogue is dead in my book.

a mage shoots off a fireball which singes the warrior rather than melts his head clean off? why bother learning magic?

a rogue walks up behind you and cuts your throat and you think your second smile is simply cosmetic?

a few defensive skills to make things less squishy, but i'd like to remove a lot of the arcade-style fighting and bring some fps mechanics into the mmo. it'll do wonders for the concept of "balance".

"hit him in the head!"

This would be awsome in a medival setting and huuuugge battle (1000v1000, 500v500)

But it's a bit absurd, and it can happen, that someone preordering the CE edition (o standard) in the summer and resubbing in april won't have the founder title, and someone buying the game in march will have the founder title.

It's not really. Just buying the game does not make your a 'founder'. Playing the game should make you one. Those people not only payed for the game, but also suffered though the first few month of a launch. This is why they are seen as founders.

In another thread on these forums some posters claimed that classes with knockback abilities and sprints had an advantage in PVP with melee classes generally seeming to be outmatched by ranged.

I am ranged and get killed pretty easily by melee. They do a lot more damage then I do and Often have a lot of stuns. I am a trooper and only level 20 though (not sure if the PvP buff also buffs armour stats and increased the rank of your abilities). Now if my enemy would actually stay close together then I could do some nice damage with my trooper, but shamefully that hardly happens :P.

Mainly focus on healing though and seems that there are some nice healing ability waiting for me. I hope I get more usefull by that time. Right now I usually am in the middle of the stats of both damage and healing. Not being completly useless, but am used to "score" higher.

While i agree in full the people who went to Illum for the purposes of capping points and gathering chests should get in trouble. I recieved a warning also, even tho i had NEVER been to the planet. My only crime was leveling up my slicing so i went to Corellia a planet that is designed for lvl 45+ at lvl 32. Corellia has 13 sliceable containers in a safe spot, i make roughly 30k every 10ish minutes. Is it an exploit that i worked hard to level a trade and found a place to level it up? Is it an exploit that there are 2 lootable chests in the middle of this safe zone that can easily be attained by lower levels?

p.s. Didn't get  banned just a warning.

Yes it's an exploit. It's also their fault. You didn't do anything wrong. That's why you only got a warning. They'll be removing those chests soon.

It's not an exploit. They place those container there to be harvested by people who have the right level for that job. Why would it be relavent if you have the right level to be on that planet? They allow you to go there, they did that on purpose as well. Allowing you to go to planet above you level.

If they did not want people to harvest those containers, they would not be there. if they would not want people to go to higher level planets, they would lock them. Everyone is working as it is intending really, you suppose to slice them when you can. They already lowered slicing reward anyway.

He was just getting the fruits of his labor. He worked to get to  a point to harvest higher level containers and he explored the world to find the containers. Seems all fair to me.

The accounts should not have been banned.  Strip the credits, sure, but Bioware shouldn't ban players for such a big error on their part.

You actually agree not to use exploits and such when you start using there services. Did they make a mistake? Well yes and they fix it in time, but the exploiters know it when they did it and where going against what they agreed upon and KNOW they could get punished. They took the risk and now have to life with the reward.

True enough a warning in form of stiping the credits and maybe even all items they had would have worked, but I do not really feel sorry for those who got banned

More guild features + PvP feature. Taking and hold objective for example, PvP competitions.

Costumizable ship. Change the interior and make it act like a home in other game. Not really a must for me though, but a interesting feature.

Hopefully one day a "free-fly" mode for ships.

Try the "giant" robot in the dock area of Corasant. Its' not just an elite mob, its a "Open World Boss" (level 18).  I had a full 4 player group (levels 15 - 20) try. We laughed a lot after he one shotted the entire bunch of us.

Saw it and looked impressive. Was gone later, so guess someone managed to kill it :P

I usually fill in the blanks with fun stuff like GO F*** YOURSELF.

That is not smart either because that would confirm that e-mail is active and used and beside that I would have to do that about 10 times a day. Few times for a bank I am not even members, few times for WoW I am not even playing and now I am getting 'mails' from my ISP as well...they do not even end up in my spam box. I think they need to work on there filter :P
