People should be more aware that any RCE game items are high-risk investments, it's a totally new area both legally and financially and many things are not ironed out yet. Don't treat this game as any other MMORPG where you can randomly click away but consider what you buy and sell carefully, use tactics/information and common sense to economically minimize your expenses and maximize your profit. Personally i don't spend what i can't afford to lose or will be too upset about.

The final choice is still your own, but i still believe the acquired real banking license, combined with the statement every ped deposited will go directly into that bank offers better security than other mmo companies offer. Think of it what you will

At the risk of going offtopic yet again. I post here to see if i can turn around some of the bad rep guys like you have been spreading here. I don't have any kind of special inside information so i post the things i read somewhere else if they aren't mentioned here yet. If all goes well maybe we'll get some different viewpoints and (god forbid) start discussing this game instead of simple mud slinging. MinDark bank is MB and is not linked to Entropia in ANY way ! Now if you were to open saving account in MB yes but no ONE single of youre peds are due by the swedeb gouvernement.If you dont understand part 3 i cant help you further.

• Almost every bank will go bankrupt if all clients withdraw their money the same time, it's called investments.
• Unless i'm severely mistaken Sweden has been a member of the EU since 1995: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweden
• As i understand it, If a government guarantees an amount of money (like the Dutch did for Iceland savings) it means that in case of bankruptcy the government will return you your money up to that amount, so the same goes for your PEDS in Mindarks case.

Yeah they aquired a swedish banking license, which i think only offers more security for the ingame money because they're regulated/audited by swedish / EU laws. I think they also guarantee the value of peds for deposits up to $60.000 USD. So less worries your PED's will become worthless.

It's a competition, noone's hiring you to do work. If you like it you compete if you do a great job you win. Some people like the idea of creating something ingame + the items you can win. If you don't or if you value your work too much to sign over IP rights then simply don't submit. It's not a scam, simply a free event with nice prizes, MA might get new ideas for mobs which will benefit everyone by offering a more diverse amount of mobs, what's wrong with that?

Let me try and clarify some of Lium's above ramblings:

FPC is hosting another event: Land grab 2009. Basically it's a huge PVP event between societies to claim a land area on Calypso. With that Land area they can determine the wildlife for that area and set future taxes to generate income.

To prevent the top 10 societes snatching all land areas some are exclusively set aside for the numbers 11-50 to claim. If you're currently not in a society you can hire yourself out as mercenary or simply come watch the spectacle and heal/shoot the wounded.

Yes there is crazy ppl that paid stupid money for items (i can’t cry i own great car IRL because i sold out) but they are crazy.
You forget to tell about Banks that sold for 400k (guess why because Anshe tried to sell her and get out of the game once she finds almost no one played).
 

Hehe, sorry to disappoint, I'm not from MA/FPC, i'm just a noob who's been around since the beginning and stumbled across this thread. I agree that its a bumpy road sometimes that EU is traveling and they do make mistakes/bad decisions like everyone else. In all those years there have been many people saying the exact same things you do now, they've all been proven wrong, big chance you will be next

There's no need to continuously focus on the negative though. Economies go up and down, players join and leave for all kinds of reasons. Try to see the fun side of things (there are plenty in EU IMO) and you'll have a much better time and maybe feel less need to post your doom scenarios to warn people.

• 2002: Open beta starts, lots of people yelling nobody would be interested, people are interested.
• 2003: PE goes gold, many people yelling it will never last long, they're still here
• 2004: Public auction of virtual island, lots of people yelling PE economy is going down, island sold for $26500 US.
• 2005: Public auction of virtual space-station, alot of people yelling PE economy is alltime low, Station sold for $100.000 US.
• 2006,2007,2008: Prices rise astronomically to thousands of dollars, many claim PE is doomed, it's still here.
• 2009: 800.000 users later, Lium warns us all not to play
• 2009 - ??: There will always be nay-sayers and doom prophets, just try to enjoy your experience and spend as much as you're willing to risk loosing.
