guild conflict is cool and all.....but what about solos?

AoC was so not solo friendly. Neither is WoW. You cant even enter a dungeon without having to spam the LFG channels for hours. I know those games claimed to be soloable, but they were so totally not. Now, ER claims soloability, but I am wary about that claim as it has usually been a false promise by so many other mmos. I haven had a good game to solo in since UO. I am hoping ER can fix that, but I am doubtful. |

Third person view, fps, manual toggle or auto lock??

That is the main reason why the devs decided to not make hitboxes and not make this game a true fps. So there is a balance amongst players... So that it is not the skill of the player able to get hitboxes (Headshots) but the skill of the player to use his skills, tactics and abbilities to their fullest.
If you ask me, I think that they should allow the players to chose whether or not they fight through the soft lock or twitch based combat. |

Ive read over Earthrise with great anticipation, and they talk a lot about guilds and factions, but what about solo players? Its a disheartening trend these days in MMOs that solo play is often neglected and overlooked. The games today bascially force players to join guilds which isnt fair. With that in mind, what does Earthrise offer solo players, if anything at all? |

What bugs me about first person is how your weapons seem to be right up in your face. Now if you were holding a sword and shield, would you hold them right up in your face? No, but thats the way it looks in first person. At least in third person, the way your character holds their weapon appears to be more realistic, not up in their face like in third. |

Youre better off staying bailed. AOC is going to die within the next few months. They arent making the changes that need to be made with 1.05. It bascially just a mass nerfing and nothing more.... |

Seriously, what is with the FPV obsession all of a sudden? First it was Darkfall, now its mortal? What, are they all trying to ride the Oblivion kick? Hey, news flash, Oblivion had the option for third person. Granted it was a sucky third person, but I still used it, especially for melee and general exploration. The point being that even Oblivion, the holy grail for FPV advocates, offered a third person. Giving players the option for a third person just makes sense. People are used to it. A lot of people like it. Its just good business sense to offer players as much customization of their interface without compromising the games core ideal of PvP. And for those who say third person offers advantages over first, I say, it really doesnt. If MO is going to be a player skill game, then it wont matter because player skill, not the viewmode, is what determines victory on combat. Players skilled in first person will be able to contend with and beat players in third. People may disagree, but not having the option to play in third is only going to hurt MO..... and give PvP games a bad name because of its failure. Thats something these wanna be game developers dont realize. With each failed open PvP game, it makes open PvP games look bad and makes the companies who have the resources to make a good PvP game turn them down. They're only killing the future hopes of open PvP games, and for that I say, knock it the hell off... |

If EA offered pre-AOS servers, would you go back?
Britannia Tavern (General) « Ultima Online 4/18/09 1:08:59 PM
The old UO players really need to get back to posting their wants when it comes to UO. the more support classic servers have, the better the chance they have of coming true. |

If EA did finally offer Classic Servers, what Era would you prefer it to take place in?
Britannia Tavern (General) « Ultima Online 4/18/09 12:31:34 PM
This is a follow-up thread/poll to the would you go back if EA offered pre-AOS servers, thread. So, if they did finally offer classic servers, what Era would you want it to take place in? Right After Release T2A (The Second Age): added on the Lost Lands. Reniassance: Split the lands into Trammel and Felucca Lord Blackthorn's Revenge/ 3rd Dawn: Added Ilshenar and the so called 3d client
My vote is for T2A. That was, in my opinion, the best era of all. |

Its pretty straight forward. If EA were to finally wake up and make Pre-AOS servers, would you go back despite the 2d grpahics and so called outdated tech? Personally, I would. I would go back despite the game being in 2d. Because, even though its still 2d, the game play and freedom UO offered before AOS trumps the "pretty" games with their 3d graphics. |

If you left right after Trammel you are NOT a vet
Britannia Tavern (General) « Ultima Online 4/07/09 1:34:42 AM
I played from 98- all the way up to Mondain's Legacy, then I just couldnt take it anymore. I mean, AOS was bad, but after those neon spiky haired elf freaks showed up, that was it, I was done. I had seen UO at its best and watched the gradual degrade. So, yes, I am (or was) a vet of UO. I know a lot of people hate on Trammel. Hell, I wasnt too happy about it either. I was one of those who stayed in Felucca. Sure, trammel attracted all of the noobs and foul mouthed kids to the game, but the loss wasnt all that bad in Felucca. A lot of the people I played with and against stayed because eventhough the server had been split into the two facets, the PvP was still good because none of the games mechanics had been tampered with..... yet. But the thing was, Trammel didn't kill UO..... it was just the first step down the green mile. But everything still worked. Crafters were still useful and fun to play and the skills werent completely gimped like they are today. Then, eventually, Age of Suck came and that was it. PvP was wrecked and so was everything else. Crafting became useless thanks to artifacts, power scrolls and runic tools. Then it just got worse with every "expansion" after that....... I mean, seriously, ninjas and samurai? When the hell did the Avatar ever use ninja moves or dress like a samurai? I seem to have missed that particular part of Ultima Lore. The UO I knew and loved became an item grind thanks to some morons who wanted to try and copy WoW. Yeah, that worked........ not. |

Richard Garriott Would Love to Continue With Ultima Game - GameDaily

Oh hell no. EA should stay AWAY from Garriot and any Ultima projects he may have in mind. I mean, by the gods, after what they did to UO, I cant believe anyone would want EA even so much as sending Garriot a fax message in regards to anything remotely Ultima. Personally, I hope Garriot locks the EA UO devs in his haunted mansion, turns of all the safeties, and throws away the key, leaving them to die in there. But if Garriot did another Ultima or a real UO2, I would play it in a heartbeat, assuming the single player Ulitma was as good as the previous ones or if the UO2 was as good as the way UO used to be back in T2A. Anyway, for Garriot to be able to do anything with Ultima, he is going to have to buy it off of EA. I hope he does this and gets Ultima away from those game butchers. |
