yeah, was also disappointed with the lack of a new video. I still hope to get a new trailer, since they always rock :)

with any luck we'll get more information on both DUST 514 and the Dominion expansion through the upcoming fanfest :)

Just started the trial and i'm already hooked. If you could share some starting funds, i would be very happy :)

my ingame name is Khendro and i also added you to my mailinglist if that was needed to avoid extra taxes :)

Interesting, but... have they even finished Wrath of the Lich King yet.

Is this a ploy to prevent the death of Arthas?  (dun dun DUUUUUUUUN)

If killing Arthas (i.e. the poster child of Warcraft lore) didn't hail the end of Warcraft, than slaying Deathwing certainly does.

;)

Hmm...I think you need to revisit your lore.

1) Cataclysm isn't scheduled for release until 2010 (probably in November to catch Christmas Shoppers)

2) Sarageras is the 'poster child'; seeing as he IS the leader of the Burning Legion

hmm i think it's going to be sooner then November 2010. One of the devs at blizzcon said that at BlizzCon 2010, people would be complaining about overpowered Goblin Rogues :)

Honestly i don't think those were ingame graphics, but was a pure CGI trailer from a players perspective...

For example, there is no health bar, no ammunition... in other words no interface. Also when the buggy comes out of the street, the way it brakes and then shoots at the tank is just too nice... I've never seen a vehicle brake that smooth in any recent FPS game that was released. The same for its shooting, it was just too fast, too smooth :)

Also i doubt the game will be able to run with lots of players on those graphics. Consoles are quite limited regarding specifications and if they want to release a game with those graphics, i think the maps/zones you'll fight on will be limited to 32-64 players MAX. Not really an MMOFPS then is it? :)

And if it is limited with the number of players on the same map, will it be F2P or P2P, because if it's limited... in the end it's nothing more then a glorified FPS with EVE influence and it won't justify a monthly fee :)

4players.de has talked to Petursson after the show, asking why there will be no PC-Version. Petursson smiled and stated, that he cannot comment on it right now. The only thing he can say at the moment is that there will be ca console version.

for those who are complaining about the console only thing... with any luck it will be a timed exclusive :)

.... Fanfest 2006 (i think) ..

2004

hah ok! well guess that shows that some things take a "little" bit longer to finish :)

In the end EVE is not the only one, WoW for example talked about housing and the Emerald Dream areas since US closed beta... 5 years later and they still aren't included :)

I'm not a darkfall player, nor do I support the game.

However. When WoW was first released in the US, I had to pay 70 Euroes to play it. This is because I had to import a US copy of the game and Irish customs tacked on like 20-30 euro in some kind of wierd import tax onto the box. A few months later the game was released in Europe. There were not only no character transfers, there wasn't even the possiblity of one down the line in the near or far future. I had to chose to either play on the US servers or buy a new copy.

In the end, due to time zones, IRL friends and other factors, I bought a new copy to play on the EU servers.

I'm not saying the Darkfall devs are golden, but on this issue, it seems unfair that they are being singled out for something that SEEMS to be an industry standard. You can complain that this should change, throughout the industry, but don't blame darkfall like it's some new kind of scam they just came up with.

Doesn't really compare. The releasedates of WoW were quite known in the end and they made it absolutely clear before release that US and EU would be completely seperated. So in the end you should've known this and still you first imported a US copy. So no offense, but it's your own fault you wasted 70 euros to get the game early :)

HI to the Aion community,

I have been waiting for this game to be releases here in europe for Months, only to find out that it is now going to be a pay-to-play game.   I am really disappointed in you guys, not only is it pay-to-play but it is still a full priced game to start off.  Some of us aren't financially in a position to afford this no matter how much we would like to play.

I have played RFOnline for two years, first on the retail server, then on the RFEquilibrium server when retail closed.  I was happy to give up my high lvl, well equipt, and well known character to play this game and start a fresh as a noobie but since finding out it's now going to be pay-to-play I have had to reconsider.  And to be honest, I don't think I will be the only one!

MAKE IT FREE-TO-PLAY AND ADD A CASHSHOP..... THAT WAY THOSE PEOPLE WHO WISH TO SPEND REAL MONEY TO IMPROVE THEIR CHARACTERS CAN DO SO..... AND THE REST OF US CAN JUST WORK HARD.....

Good luck in Game, I will maybe see you IF they make it FREE-TO-PLAY

QUALITY  = P2P

CRAP = F2P

so no chance in hell it will happen, i rather have a game where everyone pays, got decent support and doesn't get any real beneftis, then a F2P crap game with zero support and people kicking everyones ass just because they have the ability to throw away tons of money.

Eve has bloom, HDR and advance shadows already.

AA can be forced with your graphics card control panel and it looks great.

I don;t know what CCP is going to do with the planets but if they do let us land on them it might be  Rts simcity hybrid type of gameplay.

I don;t see CCP giving use entire worlds to live on like SWG or anything.

I do agree this game has massive potential.

Well CCP is already working on more interaction with the planets, here's a video from Fanfest 2006 (i think) which is showing a spaceship entering the atmosphere of a planet :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Pg1dzAvL2M

the Walking in Stations would be the perfect start to allow players to go on planets imo, a nice way to test the basics in a limited area.

can"t believe people are taking his review seriously, the guy his videos are pure for fun, Check out all his other video reviews and you'll notice that he makes fun of every game he encounters.

I especially advice the Army of Two, Sims 3 and Assassin's Creed review :p

i loved it! i'm going to start playing the game in a month after i dealt with some other stuff, but the problem was finding good starter guided/videos.

Most of the information i found was pre-apocrypha or only talked about stuff that you only got to after 1 or 2 months. So i'm real glad to see a new site like this appear :)

tbh i doubt people will even buy it for $1 ...

Eve is dying.. fast. Maybe it will go free 2 play.. who knows.

so it's dying? Then why after the game went retail, subscribers went from 250.000 to 300.000 subscriptions. Also explain the that if the game is dying, why was in recent years the ONLY game next to world of warcraft that was still gaining subsriptions?

So i guess a game getting more players means dying in your dictionary :)

A little mistake: that's The Maelstrom, not Maelstorm.
A big mistake: that's not a gnome on the picture... she's a dragon in gnome disguise :P

ahh you mean chromie of the bronze dragonflight! :)

drbaltazar - the Dragon Soul was created by Neltharion. The Dragon Soul became the Demon Soul when Neltharion was driven insane by the Old Gods and he became Deathwing.

Deathwing was last seen in Warcraft 2 but is still alive(another twist that surely further upset SuperHans) and is hiding beneath Grim Batol. The quest line in Netherwing Ledge and the new book Night of the Dragon reveal this.

Deathwing will likely be an update boss in the Maelstrom expansion. He's a classic Warcraft villain but not expansion worthy.

oo k ty for precision ,tho one question wasnt the dragon soul corrupted by the horde at some point i guess i ll have to read this again lol.so you dont agre that when neltharion became evil is a good chunk worthy of an expension .then like you say it will probably be included in maelstrom or an update like uduar,or 3.2

i d love to go back in time lot of shit turn loose because of him ,almost 60 % of bad stuff in fact is because of him or his mate lol

Nope, the dragon soul was cursed by the 4 "good" Dragon aspects, so that no dragon could ever wield it again. Because of it's power it was then called the Demon soul, for been such an evil device. Deathwing (Neltharion) pointed the Orcs of Grim Batol towards the device, since he couldn't wield it anymore and the Orcs then used it to enslave Alexstrasza so they could control her drakes and use them against the Alliance.

I'm also wondering if we'll ever find out who the Infinite Dragonflight are, that you encounter in the Caverns of Time. They say it is actually the Bronze Dragonflight and his leader that have gone evil after a while, but i would love to find out more about them :)

Coming back to EVE is like coming back to any MMO. Pretty much all the core stuff is exactly the same, all the lame tutorials are still there, all the watering holes are still around, the quest-givers and NPC factions haven't particularly changed, and so forth.

The graphics are a lot prettier (and slower), EVE now can be installed on Macs, and the servers have been improved a lot so that there's practically no lag at some times(!). There's definitely a lot of balance changes and a lot more little features and details to discover, too.

However, it's not like EVE went and turned into a different game while you were gone. It still feels and plays as EVE-ish as ever, just that it's grown a few new limbs and capabilities since 2004.

If that makes any sense at all.

P.S. What that ISK seller posted is true, too. I don't remember if people were doing it five years ago, but nowadays you can buy or sell ANYTHING in EVE with real life cash. The game winds up getting treated as super-serious business by a lot of players because of it, which you may or may not enjoy.

To be honest i actually liked the new tutorial, i remember the tutorial from 2 years ago, god that one was awful....

Now you at least get some free frigates/weapons/items when you end the tutorial and stand a chance. Because i remember 2 years ago when i finished the tutorial i was still in that newbie ship and the first mission i got, i was completely trashed :p

I'm glad to hear it even if it will be a long time. The avatar would really create some interest in eve for me.

How would having full body avatars make EvE more interesting for you?

You can't actually do something with those avatars other then running around on a station. It doesn't provide any more options.

Depends, i also remember a couple of years ago that they were showing a tech demo of a space ship flying in the atmosphere of a planet. Combining this with ambulation and in the future you might be able to explore/land on planets, which in turn can give people even more diversity. For example, give players the ability to build a small town/colony or harvest resources.

Sure, Ambulation at first is only a gimmick, but it does open a lot of new features for the future. of course... if you see how long it is taking to introduce ambulation in the first place, god knows how long it would take to introduce a new feature based upon it.

Well i heard that the devs already said that the rate of fire was increased after the video because of negative feedback on the forum. So i guess that's one less "problem" to worry about.

What's really funny is Acclaim's puppet community manager The Historian has been coming here since Acclaim first got rights to publish 'til recently, telling everyone how great it was going to be and how great it was and how great it is and everything is fine and dandy. lol.

This was not an overnight "Oh, shit! Let's go bankrupt!" kind of deal. It now makes sense why Acclaim has been dragging it's feet. Acclaim knew, there's no way they didn't know. And they waited for the ball to drop. And now they expect to make money off current subscribers while giving nothing in return and then shoving those subcribers off the server and opening up the item mall first chance they get.

indeed it feels like that the publishers made some damn annoying contracts so the game would have zero success and afterwards they could claim the license of the game and do with it what they wanted from the start.
