I want to see a game, not just another copy cat.If they remove instancing, that still does not equate to a game.I am sick of doing quests in games, they don't feel like quests, they are nothing more tha nleveling tools to force, hold your hand through levels. That is my other concern,i don't give two cahoots about levels at all,i play a game because it is fun to play.If the game is designed to be a race to end level and everyone else in the game is playign it that way,i have no interest for the game at all.If it designed to be a solo fest, then it is nothing more than a single player game, again i would have no use for it.

I also expect to see some content,no that does not mean maps/zones/change my players hair colour,it means CONTENT.If it lacks content ,then it better deliver a very cool combat system,i am sure MOST are sick of the WOW play style 1-2-1-2 mashing of the same two hotbar icons.I have zero interest for PVP,so it better deliver a good PVE game.I am also really turned off by games that try to utilize cheap/lame gimmicks to get subscriptions, example the one i heard in SW where they give you free XP just because you put your name in a group, that is a HUGE turn off for me.

As you can see a long list of possible failures for the game, but all of witch i expect EVERY game to deliver on.

These are ROLE PLAYING games, what role are you playing in real life that is a jack of all trades?

IMO class system is a must, that is the role you are playing. Also if each person is nothing but a jack of all trades, how cheap does that make grouping? That is the other big problem right there, more and more people just want to solo and not interact with anyone else.Giving them access to all skills, all spells ,all weapons, means they are basically a god over the game, not too challenging like that.

Back to the grouping aspect...

By having a class in a game, gives each player in a group a ROLE to play [rememer that RPG aspect i eluded to earlier ?].Geesh even solo ,you need to be playign out a role,if you are nothing but a bunch of statisitics, that makes for a pretty sad game. Also when you advance a player ,as a class you at least have the spells/abilities to look forward to,in a classless system,it is just a bunch of numbers, everyone else in game has the exact same spells /abilities,geesh .That would be a game that could truly use the title of  "CLONE WARS".Sure all class players are clones, but it is still far better than having an entire game all clones.

EVERYONE i have heard voice an opinion in these forums has claimed they want to be unique or have customization, well if every single person is the same, then how does that equal customization? What if someone asks what you are in the game, how do you answer?"I am nothing but a bunch of numbers,i don't have a role to play?"

The ONLY reason you see a game not use a class system,is because it allows them a cheper, less costly design. No need for as many spells/abilities,since everyone will be using the same ones.If you had to make spells and abiltiies for 10 classes as an example that woudl equate to a hell of a lot more work by the developer.I am pretty sure we don't want t oencourage them to get any more lazy/cheap than they already are, just about every single game is using 2 factions [bare minimum].Look at the new SW game by EA,the yare only going to have 2 factions, game develppement is just utterly crap right now.

I can comment,since i don't like golf live or in a game,so i quit after 2 holes.

customization is possible for sure, but as of now there is none,so no AAA there,in it's current state not even AA.

Textures are low end, nothing to look realistic, example shirt doesn't move in wind,no moving grass, trees.Player doesn't breathe. No caddy ,no gold cart,he jus tmagically appears at each hole.

Really the game is nothing more than a stick man with a few different animations.Same club for each animation? No turning of the player or grips,it is all just pre rendered into your choices.

All in all it nothing close to a AAA,not even AA,just a boring browser game as expected.Even if it was something more to my liking than boring golf,i would still not play it ,even for free.Of course anything other than golf would take at least one more player if it was tennis, any other sport would need several animations, too much effort for a browser game, witch is why they chose a one man golf game.

I'm glad to hear about that console workaround. I wanted to return to FFXI and play on both Xbox 360 and PC anyway so now I have a real excuse to buy the 360 version (since I don't have a card with 3-D Secure).

Except with the 360 you have to pay Microsoft to use their Network, with SOE [ya that big bad company]you don't.That is a lot of money Microsoft is making,if they have 50 million Xbox 360 users all paying 15 bucks for online that is what 750 million dollars??More people should send in way Microsoft should be getting away with this.

Although i agree that Square has a terrible way of dealing with customer support, the problem is not your Citibank,Mastercard is what you set the PIN with.I have not played FFFXI in a long time now ,but the few times i had to do this with other games,Mastercard was zero problem,it was Visa that i had a lot of problems with.

So you should definitely be able to set a pin using your Mastercard,Citibank has nothing to do with it

7th delay or 120th delay it really doesn't bother me any. i have not paid for the game nor will i untill i'm convinced it's playable and enjoyable. all this means for me is more free beta. what can be better then playing for free?

That is a good mentality to have ,an intelligent one,the rest.../shakes his head.SV is the bad guy if they release it unfinihsed, they are the bad guy if they don't ,almost laughable community, and people are saying SV is acting unprofessional?Pfft dealing with the type of people i have seen posting ,no wonder,i don't blame him one bit.

How would the game make a lot of money going F2P?The OP sounds like he wants to play for free,so that is making EA zero money.Every game gets tons of trials going,i doubt it equates to more than a 2% turn over o subscription.

There is no convenient timing here, they bought the rights quite awhile ago, like imo at least 6 months ago, because it was a VERY cheap deal and they wanted the platform/engine for their other game, witch has already been released,a DJ music game.

I have no idea why this game was never released, maybe it was finished but no publisher?Maybe it was not finished,in witch then we have to rely on these guys to finish it.Then after that ,they will dissect it for a cash shop setup. So imo the game has little chance of being something i would play for any length of time,as i am not going to pay for any cash shop.

I suggest you just buy the XBOX version. The way graphics are done you won't notice any difference. It is a VERY linear game following down narrow linear paths,so it is not like you need to enjoy some expansive viewscapes.I highly doubt it will ever be reelased on PC but who knows, still not worth your wait for any reason. The graphics also utilize the same colours in several scenarios,so even if HD you wouldn't be able to notice it at all.EVERYTHING in game is static, you can't knock over a TV stand or shoot a citizen or destroy anything, all yo uget to do is follow that linear path unti la 5 minute cutscene that is repeated if yo udie ..enjoy lol.

I am a big fan of FF games ,and this is only the second one that i have no interest to finish, the other was FFX2.I would personally fire the guy who made FFXIII it is imo utter crap,i never even much liked FFVII ,but i would play that 50x over before i ever play FFXIII again.

I am not one of those fanbosi that praise everything a developer spews out,i give credit where it is due ,FFX and FFXI were great accomplishments,FFXIII is not worth my time let alone the cost to buy it.What really wrenched  my gut is that i not only bought FFXIII i bought a PS3 as well to play it lol, although my reasoning was that i may play FFXIV on the PS3,still undecided.

I believe most people who get their accounts hacked truely deserve it. Blizzard is the only place you can get help so why on earth would you post here EXCEPT to feed trolls to hate WoW?

That is not a fair statement at all,i think it is good people share information about developers and the way they treat their customers with respect or lack of.You are making it sound like we should keep it a secret and you make it sound like he could post in the Blizzard forums and not get baneed for it or the post would actually survive more than one day?

Obviously with IP information known,Blizzard would know that the account was not played by the actual account holder,it would take only a severely incompetent staff to not figure it out.I will tell you right now HASBRO has people that constantly surf the net looking for publicity on their name, they are very nosey and i don't doubt others do it as well, example Wow's embedded spyware.

I think too many people seem to forget that Blizzard claimed that spyware was strictly for security reasons, well why has it not helped them in one single case?I guess Blizzard should be removing that spyware if it is not helping the cause?

Now i am not stupid and realize there is a flip side here,Blizzard would have no way of knowing if an account holder sells his account or actually does let someone else play his/her account. This is why i have said for a VERY long time, that accounts SHOULD be bound to ONE IP address, this is even more substantiated inWOW because it is a game ONLY played on PC,so players don't need access through an XBOX or PS3 like some games do.

Also to further substantiate this,is that i am pretty sure you are not allowed to sell your account anyhow,so there is no reason to not bind accounts to one ip address.IF on the VERY rare occasion that a user changes his IP,then it should be handled through the phone AND email address. So although i agree ,MOST cases are the users fault,Blizzard has shown no effort to make it safe for themselves or the user,so Blizzard is every bit as guilty.

$200-$250 max if it is really a good product that will last me a long time.

I would suggest you do some homework as video card manufacturers often make upgraded drivers to meet demands for certain games. So if there si a certain game you have in mind, see witch one has catered to that game,of course only the real popular games are looked at.

Thing i have found when comes to sites posting specs and numbers is that it is never too accurate, numbers can vary in every single game from zone to zone and often large variances in the same zone. The bottom line is that unless you make a huge leap in video card lines, you will notice a VERY small improvement in actual gaming.

Here is a little something you might want to look at....The reason ATI was always behind Nvidia was because they were so slow on driver support and this seems to still be true.

I will post the driver update for NVIDIA and then tell you that ATI conveniently updated their driver right after, but sounds more fake, like they really did not do anything in the update excpet address slow support issues for Windows 7,where as Nvidia is supporting games.

Although i may not agree with 72 hour bans,it is common practice in all games.

The sad thing is that is has  taken a very long time to get developers to care at all,SOE only moved in,once they started their own cash shop,so they didn't want intereference.I could be wrong, but i am a firm believer that Square Enix is the one we can thank for being the first to really step up to the plate to make their game fair for everyone.

Now before i go giving them too much credit,FFXI was already long ruined by the time they finally did something, witch was like 4-5 years later. However once they did start to show concern, they have done a great job and really showed the best effort of any developer to this date.

I will never understand how introducing such a handy tool can destroy the community. I also do not understand why people consider it as a sign for catering to casuals. Afterall what is so hardcore about standing at one place and spamming LFG for hours? the challenge should be inside the dungeon and not in forming teams. However, players can still form their own groups so yeah more options is always good.

Blizzard is a smart company and by introduction of  team tool they are only encouraging players to do group content which they would have other wise skipped due to lack of groups/teams. Its a lot better option then just getting rid of team based quests like Turbine did with LOTR. (easy way out isn't it?)

Games like EQ2, AOC etc can use such a tool as it is always a pain to find teams on lower levels.

I have never tired the WOW idea, but i do knwo they are not that brilliant,i mentioned this to Square Enix 3+ years ago,so everyone is slow moving on this.

There is several problems with this system,it has to be done correctly.Example is you don't want to Que ue into just any group, you should have a preference of what content you want. Also over lapping classes would be a problem,so you need a mechanic where by a group starter is able to check off what exactly he/she wants in their group.

You need selections such as gouping/questing/raiding,then you need the level and willingness to mentor if a game uses the mentoring system.

IMO grouping is not a problem of mechanics it is a problem with game design and community. If your community just wants to play solo, how is any grouping mechanic going to help?If your whole game is designed to solo such as Wow is aside from instances, then why would people want to group?

Also one huge problem i have always seen in GUILDS and their leaders. Why are people joining guilds?Obviously to play with other players,so what is the problem?Your guild leader should not be picking random people just to look big,he should be picking people to form common groups and needs.Example why woudlda guild leader pick 7 people if only 6 can group? One player will always be left out to dry. Also if you have a guild with a level 15 and a level 30 and a level 50 what good is that?

So imo if guild's were structured and run properly there would be again no need for this mechanic and of course you still need people that actually want to play a MMO and not play solo as a single player game.

That is the HUGE problem with game design,it has become nothing more than a race to level up.That is not gaming, that is just watching a number rise, means nothing and offers zero satisfaction to myself.I play a game i do not even care about grind,my ONLY concern is if i am having fun with the combat system and enjoying  the race/class structure.

Really there is ONLY one MAJOR concern with gaming and that is combat,be it either PVP or PVE,that is the main focus of EVERY MMORPG.Crafting is to maintain your combat, raiding is to maintain your combat, questing is to maintain nothing more than a level number, this is why i cannot believe how cheap/lame questing is and yet MOST seem to accept it as being fun?Last time i checked watching a level number move is about as fun as watching grass grow,it is still the combat that brings out the FUN.When someone tells me they got a new level,i couldn't care less,it means nothing, anyone can do it.

This is why FFXIV is making a great move to remove levels, however,it will still be about gear leveling, really not much different jsut a different twist. The big difference is i don't have to listen to people  DING level 20,21,22,23 ect ect.So hopefully all players wil lcare about is having FUN,until now ,everyone claims that is their goal, but in reality they lie,it has been about leveling.

Not that anyone cares to listen, but i have read a few articles lately from Marketing, investor experts that pretty much substantiate what the SV CEO says.Investors do not care about a great game, they are at this very moment MORE interested in flash games and games that cater to social apsects. So in essence do not expect a free form game from any developer that is trying to convince investors to come aboard.

ALL the giants are cutting back on rpg pc games and moving to the Facebook ,Phone app area.So if you enjoy Farmville, and cheap flash games that is what you are going to get, unless people support the more advanced industry.

I've been playin' for a couple days now, and liking it quite a bit.

Was wondering what the game offers over other theme park type MMO later on though. So far, the main difference I've seen from say, WoW, is that the game looks nicer, has a better sense of scale, and less retarded lore (hell, my one gripe is the lack of diversity in the look of armor)

So, what sets EQ2 apart from the rest?

I used to be able to list a whole ton of stuff, like example they started the mentoring system for one,but now a days all that matters is how people play the game.

Rather than make comparisons of each area that is better or worse,it is VERY easy to sum up EQ2 as playing WOW,they are about 90% the exact same. This is really noticed  at higher levels, when all people do is raid instances for the best loot and in EQ2 they sell loot rights ,witch is exploiting and neither SOE or the community seem to care,so pretty lame community that enjoys exploiting the rules.

One other difference is it is very important to craft MC gear and basically keep it a few levels ahead of your leveling. Also AA pts are a HUGE factor early on,you should go for them as soon as you can ,witch i think is level 10,that you can lock xp and just send all xp to your AA.

Other than that really the game is just your usual vanilla game, that i have grown bored of playing,i much rather play a FFXi type combat system, and the class design using a SUB-CLASS is also far more versatile/fun.I also prefer setting up a camp with other players,it is more interactive and friendly than just soloing and chasing boring quests all day.Quest playing really involves a lot of running around to kill some very weak mobs with an eventual end goal to fight one tough boss to end that running around, but then you start another and repeat it all again.I would 100% definitely rather setup a camp and kill stuff ,over running around,as doing quests, you ALWAYS spend more time running around than actually doing anything.

The answer is simple,Hasbro/WOTC does not put out any product that takes much of an investment. They did try once with Turbine and their single player game but it was not exactly a big project and did not sell well,so i don't see them going this route again.

If they did ever decide,it would again force them to hire an outside developer,so that creates a debt and cuts into their profits right away, these guys are not even 5% close to being able to develop their own game.SO financially it is a very bad idea for the way Hasbro operates, chances are VERY slim.

Also WOTC cancelled their license with Lucas Arts,so if they feel a Star Wars license is not very lucrative, they will not find anything else very lucrative. The only way i see this ever happening is if some outside developer licenses it from Hasbro and that would be VERY costly and not worth anyone's effort.

I saw some @sskicking monsters in their trailers, and their world looks pretty awesome. I wonder if they could raise some cash licensing out assets like that?

Regarding buying the game though, I'd like to go explore their world, but I read that it's really empty. If they put in some things to discover and maybe a mapmaking feature, I think I could waste some time there.

 Free open beta until release.

Ya i do not understand why games make their world so empty, even if they can't afford to make new content, just litter the emptiness with mobs you already made.Darkfall did the same thing,i could walk for an hour and see nothing,i just shake my head and think of laziness.

If it is not laziness, because dotting some more mobs around the world is absolutely effortless, one person in a few hours could manage it,then what is the problem? The ONLY thing i can think of is,developers are doing a poor job of zoning their maps, and if they try to add anymore content, the loading/hitching gets real bad, other than that,i can't think of anything.

None the less, this is an Indie developer, using their own money,i wish people would realize that and treat them like an Indie developer and not expect Blizzard/SOE/Square here.

I would normally say 150 is BS as Zenimax/Thq is claiming the same number for their MMO.However to make any accurate judgement,we need to know how much it costs them to license the HERO engine, how long they are contracting the writers, voice actors for ect ect.Voice acting can be done VERY quickly, they just give them sheets of lines they read off, they then add it into the game later.Writers however can take awhile ,but i somehow feel they may be contracts,so set money and time.

As for TR my memory not always the best but i am pretty sure that was 60 mil and included bonuses promised to Lord british and his brother of 20 mil +whatever his brother was promised, witch they got out of paying by folding the game.

Basically there could be a lot of licensing costs here, that is not really game devlopment or means it is related to content.I am pretty sure this is not Lucas Arts hiring Bioware/EA, or am i worng? If not then they have to pay quite a large chunk  to Lucas Arts and probably royalties later as well. They also may be including ALL of both Bioware divisions in the cost, when in reality they said one is only a supplemnetary to the other, but the way big business operates they can make a nice write off this way.Kind of like visiting the doctor for 15 minutes and they charge the government for an hour, then everyone cries about how costly medicare is,when in reality it is a lot of scamming.

I really hope the best for this game, and if they are spending 150 million i hope the effort is worth it.My personal opinion is you need to spend 150 million to make an EPIC game but only 50+ to make a very good game.Only a two faction game,so i hope alot more effort goes into the game content than just outside costs.

I was trying my best to get into the game, but the tutorial part seemed to break down as i was goofing around with the jetpacks i died and the game seemed to come to a halt,i couldn't do anything or get through any doors lol.SO i had to quit playing it before ieven got to really get into any real combat, the tutorial as expected was far too simple for me to get any grasp o nthe game.

What i did notice was it seems you play for credits/currency and you will gain some definite advantages in PVP using this system, not sure but it looks like a bad setup, one i didn't like in CODMW2 either.

ALso since they used the unreal engine, they SHOULD have incorporated DODGING ,it would have a definite spot in this game.I wanted to get further along so i could see if the game has any weapon versatility for each player, other than picking a different class and how well the maps were laid out for constructive PVP,all very important factors that i never got to see.
