Most of the legendary are exceptionally ugly. What GW2 needs are no better ways to get ugly stuff you see at each second corner these days, GW2 need new fresh content.

And btw there have been loads of grind in the game during the living story to reach certain achievements for it. This grind has activly been infused by ArenaNet. One point, why LS sucked.

We don't need battlegrounds. They don't fit into ESO. If you want to pvp, go to Cyrodiil.

Good article but I wonder, why you wrote it? Those worshippers of the Brad-hype will be pissed and everyone else got your message eventually from the kickstarter, if not earlier.

Though everything in the article is imho correct, it feels like a meaningless bashing of Brad. Is this some personal vendetta?

Good article for a good game. The interview sounds promising. Thank you.

A "feeding the trolls" arcticle? I did'nt like it. A wall of text which misses the point. You certainly didn't do the game a favour.

ESO is a great game, but it is not for everyone. The time for "one game to rule them all" is long gone. ESO easily has the very best quests of any game I have seen at least the best of every MMO out there. If you don't enjoy quests, try the AvA if you like DAoC style RvR. No? Well, face it, than ESO is not made for you. The dungeons are tough, at least the veteran dungeons, you get something like raids and endlevel zones, where you should not wander on your own = a little more MMO than single player... but other than this.

Crafting is great. If you are into it and play more than one character, you can supply yourself with every gear you need. You lack an auction house? Only, if you miss selling stuff, because you won't need to buy something, when you craft.

There are loads of stuff to rant about for sure. No game is perfect. Maintainance times ... multiple hours twice the week is a no go in 2014, especially for a subbed game. But in the end you will watch your face when you have played for multiple hours and log off. For me it is a broad smile and I can't wait to log on again, because it feels like its own world. No clone of something, no speedcopied game like SWTOR. It feels oldfashioned in some placed, but there is hope they will even iron out that parts.

Great game, no doubt and much better than this article.

I once thought, GW2 will change the way MMOs are build and I was wrong. After all it is just another game which lacked in a vital aspect of all MMOs, development. Dynamic event are quite cool, but they don't tell much of a story. GW2 feels like an arcade type of game. After you heard Trahearnes story once, you never went back to play it again. GW2 lacks quests and stories like a desert lacks rain. After you have played the nice release version, it will become boring soon.

After GW2 I played some other games (again) and this showed me crystalclear: GW2 changed nothing and never will. Sadly. They have had potential, like so many games.

Guild Wars 2 has seen a tremendous amount of mostly temporary, but still exciting content over the first year of its Living Story.

Well you define tremendous quite different, then me. Living story is a joke, or has been. There is still near to no new content in this MMO which nears its second birthday. When I roll a new alt, I will stil play the exact same content with no options. Boring. Those tweaks and polishes don't reanimate the game for people who don't play arcade style but go for any meaningful content. Another advertising article for GW2...

They promised something big for 2014 last year. I am still waiting for it.

The whole kickstarter was rushed. The believed a "Hey, I am Brad McQuaid" would pay their bills and get tons of money with a KS, as did other games before. But those other games have been prepared. They offered a well managed project, not just a dream of some genre veterans. As they moved to the website, I wondered, if Brad has learned something from the comments and the failure of the KS, but it seems not. Did he even read them?

Now, a "Hey, I am Brad McQuaid" will alarm me to never invest something in a project, where he is in charge. Nothing wrong with his visions and ideas but he seems to know nothing about managing projects and people.

As for this article: there is nothing new on Pantheon in it. After all those weeks, where is the point of the article? Showing, he did not get it running? Generating some posts like mine? Or did Brad hope, after another article with his name in it, some people would offer more money? ;)

Are you thinking about creating a new character?  Has anything stopped you from creating a new toon before?  Tell us in the comments below.

I have played 5 chars to 80 and did never like the LS approach of the game. I played one and a half year with the content of the initial release. I don't rush games. But after that, the game is pure boring (and shop centric which I hate, I prefer subs). For me, there is no such thing as fresh content since the day of the release.

Nothing short of a full blown expansion will get my interest back. I will need stuff to explore for more than one or two hours to ever login again. I don't care for skill and trait mishmash. An expansion of consederable size would get me play for months again. A new character now? For what? No, thanks.

Good article, good game and still getting better while you play it. It is not similar to game XY, so you have to adapt some. But this is good. Its fresh and original, not another clone of something.

If only the bank space would be (much) larger...

2). Collect EVERYTHING

Well, if it only would be that easy. The account bank is WAY to small for all the loads and loads of items/recources you find in the game. If you craft in more than one or two professions, your only concern is SPACE, not collecting stuff.

Nice article though.

Good article. I though it would complement ZOS latest blog about 'endgame', oddly it didn't. What they offered in that blog would greatly add to the arcticle. Adventure zones are a great way to add to the after-level-cap experience as it offers a complete map to be played by groups with story, overland, quests and even more dungeons. And if you are up to a challenge, there are 12 people instances with ever increasing difficulty for the daring folk.

Great stuff, still three days to go... can't wait. :)

This is where I'm still a bit worried. The Living Story came together with this amazing ending, but I'm still not convinced this is a replacement for expansions.

Enlighten me: what exactly do you think amazing? The ending has been totally surprising, well... wait, no it wasn't! It was exactly what most of the community expected. It was not backed up by something fresh and new and most definitly not worht all those big words from Anet all the months before - again.

It would be amazing if a new elder dragon meant a whole new campaign.

So for you, it will be amazing, if they offer exactly what everyone was expecting from the very first day? This Scarlet has been a complete waste of time and workforce on our and Anets part, the dragons are all the story of Guild Wars 2 is about and you think it is amazing, if they finally add a second one?

In the course of over a year, we have no new permanent dungeons, and only one small new playable zone. The story did offer some temporary great temporary content, but the amount of content is still not even close to what an expansion could pull off.

Agreed. When I roll an new char today, he will have exactly the same content to play as my very first char some 19 months ago. For a MMO this is not enough. The LS has been done for some Anet managers to prove a point and for the shop to generate cash. But it has not been made for customers and this might come down on them now, when new big titles are about to be released. But I think it is even to late for an expansion now. Perhaps they will learn a trick or two for GW 3.

No preorder for me. I played some beta and it feeled like a tour in a toy store, a very very guided tour. ESO does the trick for me. Wildstar is too themeparky and too plastic looking for me. I liked the humor in the videos though but I did not find anything like this in the game.
Already too late. This had to be ready earlier. Now it is time for different games and 2015 ... don't know If I even still have GW2 on my hd by then. The LS has busted a very good game. Sadly.

Why it was good?

- ArenaNet tried something new.

- Basar of the four winds

Why it was bad?

It lacked in every aspect possible.

- The story was bad from the first day. The announcements suggested 'never seen before' stuff but all we got was boring and repetitive. And after really bad feedback some bits of story have been offered on the web page without connection to the game. Bad.

- Quantity over quality. Not all patches have been bad, but most. Badly announced, badly executed (unneccessary bugs, which have been ironed out within days - more testing would have found them too)

- Shop, shop, shop, shop. The more patches came the more has been clear, it is not about game quality, it is all to feed the shop. Come buy a ticket. No thanks. After this I prefer a subbed game every day. Thank you for this Anet.

- Repetetive repetition. All about shop, yes, but all about always the same "come zerg with us" content achievement. Well, yes some of them have been fun, but is stil has been always the same. But you know know exactly which achievements to be expected, since they are always the same. Its al always the same.

- After all, when I roll a new char some 19 months after release he/she/it can still only do the content my very first char on release day had to too. Eventually the whole LS did nothing to evolve the game. It did not even changed stuff for the new char. If all it hindered the gameplay of low level chars with timed events in low level zones.

As for the article: nothing worth reading, as subjective as my statement. Try again.

Let me put this as delicately as I can. Brad,  it's not the game concept that people rejected. It's you sitting at the helm and being responsible for the finances that go into making it that people rejected. You are a talented creative guy...no one trusts you as an executive manager.

This. And this whole kickstarter thingy showed this very well. Brad and his crew think they are very special, to be adored, justifying a fee, only to talk to them. Their fanboys shout at everyone being critical and thus Brad will never even recognize what is going wrong.

VR has a cool team of creative guys (lacking at least one woman in the crew, to even things out) but they don't have a proper management to show them their way. Brad so much believes he is Mr. Cool, that he will always get in his own way. It's a pity. Perhaps one time they stumble upon a person who is allowed to manage them as it should be done.

That and the overall attitude of the EQ1 fanboys, being unfriendly to everything critical will hinder Pantheon to ever become the great game it could be.

Totally useless article from David North... again. But then the title gets is right. Since most of the development after the release oft the game focused more on adding items to the shop than adding lasting content to the game, the game is lacking deeply after some 1,5 years of existence.

The shop did not interest me much during the whole time. But the shop centered path-a-holics at ArenaNet finally drove me of. I always yelled for real expansions. I am finally not even sure a good sound expansion would get me back. But the shop centered development pissed me off, yes, you are right. (For the records: LS is always the same, not worth mentioning. Grind your achievement, listen to 5 minutes of mediocre story, rinse repeat)

Welcome to reality. TES is no religion, it is a world of games from a company which has to pay bills. Locking the factions for a game which has not so few bad reactions to the beta would have kept lots of veteran MMO players outside. We discussed it in our guild. Most of us who preordered wouldn't have done so without the explorers pack.

Some of the TES worshippers might be pissed but in the end most of them will buy it anyway and with the open factions many many MMO veterans will jump onboard too, just because of a long time without fresh AAA MMO stuff to play.

And face it: the same reason will get the explorer's pack into the shop in the first week after release or even into any version of the game after release. I sincerly doubt any potential customer will ever have to play without it or a chance to get it.

This is again all a big outrage about nothing. Ten days from today nobody will give a....

"I’m just one voice in the crowd though. What about you? After 48 hours are you less enraged by this commercial injustice? Do you think the whole thing has been blown out of proportion and just a tad bit silly."

Everythings fine. I can't understand all this complaining, but after all, I am no TES worshipper, I just like to play good games. ESO does not shine as bright, as I would like to see it, but it is certainly worth buying it for me and most of my guild. This is not about a religion, it is about busines. If we would not have been allowed to play what we want, where we it, I am not sure if i had ordered the game at all. Imperials? I don't care about them. And like you, I don't work for free, so I don't mind paying for other peoples work too.
