Does any dev now stick to a release date or is it just eye candy?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 4/10/08 6:42:20 PM
Most of the time developers mention something like, "We hope to have a working game by the end of the year," which leads to the internet hype machine churning out rumours that the game is going to be released within the year. Things change with MMOGs and problems arise unexpectedly, delays need to be made to make the game playable. |

Star Wars MMO By ? if NOT BioWare?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 4/08/08 11:51:46 PM
Originally posted by Rotskab Absolutely, WoW is huge, so they must be doing something right. That just further compounds the point that previous experience isn't necessary for making a great game (although it does help, it's just that lack thereof does not mean certain doom), a company with zero experience (Blizzard at MMOGs) in the genre steps up and creates the Goliath that is WoW. |

Star Wars MMO By ? if NOT BioWare?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 4/07/08 11:26:19 AM
Third, in the western market only Blizzard, Turbine and NCSoft have any sort of consistent track record making MMOs and the last 2 are sorta shaky. Bioware, bless their hearts, have zero experience at making MMO's and as we all know, thats not a good thing in this genre. Making great RPG's is not the same as making great MMORPG's. (it should be easier given the level of challenge and depth most MMO's have) Not that we have any "Great" MMO's yet.
Blizzard has no track record. They only have 1 mmog. If anything Blizzard can only be used as an example as to why Bioware could make a good MMOG. Both of them have a reputation for making great, quality games, and neither had any MMO experience at all before their first game.

"it's just your personal opinion, not others'"
Not, it's others' as well. This game will not sell, because, well, because look at it. No game you can play on a PDA, especially online games will ever sell more than like 2 copies. I say two because that's the amount of people on this board. The OP, who seems legit, and that one other Asian guy who keeps talking to himself through alts in all the topics. |

Yeah, it was totally worth it. Captured me in ways that a lot of new generations haven't been able to. The key thing here is that it WAS totally worth it. It's too old now. |

yes...it is what you are looking for. well...if you are looking for a fun, extremely remarkable game? then by all means go ahead. |

Yeah, I'm really pumped for Tuesday, this mmog is so much more fun than anything currently out there, and its got a lot of potential to be even better than it is now. I don't know why there are so many doom-sayers out there, this game isn't going anywhere but up. |

"I don't have Comedy Central, think it'll be posted on youtube or google videos in the future?" I didn't read all the posts, so someone may have posted something like this in this thread, but anyways, every South Park episode. |

Question regarding the "grind" in this game.
General Discussion « The Chronicles of Spellborn 6/18/06 7:42:48 PM
Agreed, I hope there is no grind in this game. The fact that you can't kill monsters over and over to grind xp looks like a promising solution. Added to that is the fact that items are for looks only, with no stats. This should eliminate the grind to gain 'phat lewt.' The need to advance through quests should serve as a good way for the game to regulate just how fast a person can advance. |

I don't understand how WoW is below Guild Wars
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 6/18/06 7:29:53 PM
Haha! Nice. Why does it matter to you OP? Does the rating that other people give it make it any less fun to play for you? What happens if other people don't like the same things that you do? Should they change their minds? |

Yeah. It's a fun game, but doesn't have much to it. The endgame really let me down as I'm not such a huge fan of raiding for items that may not even drop. The PvP is fun for a while, but with only 3 BGs, it gets old. Great for new players but doesn't live up to the originals in the long term.
Maybe that's just because the originals were just that, original. They were a new type of game that hadn't been done before and players got to take part in a huge online world for the first time. WoW doesn't have that novelty and doesn't really have any groundbreaking new features. It would be great if they took out a lot of the raid requirements, and added some new features. Like politics, wars, changes in geography, and more player involvement in the evolution of the world. Hopefully the expansion will be able to rejuvenate the game, and shake things up a little. |

nope. You said that the people who like pallies play them. True. That doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the class.
|
|
When I play horde, pallies were hated because they're so hard to kill and blessing of freedom made me sick in the BGs. Just to clear one thing up, everyone else doesn't think pallies are junk. When I play my rogue or mage, I love teaming with pallies. They're a class that can heal me and keep me alive without the fear of being destroyed themselves. Heal/buff botting in raids isn't that bad either. No matter what class you play, raids are boring. |
|
|
I'v had the most fun playing a pally. I don't like being a class that either gets killed easy, or can't heal themselves, which makes the pally the ideal class for me. I also like being able to wear plate, but the warrior seems so dull to me. You just run up and hit stuff, as opposed to running up, hitting stuff, healing, buffing, and just all round supporting your group. I found that a pally is usually the one to save a group too, either by keeping them alive by taking some or the damage, and healing, or in more extreme cases by using your shield spell and then resurecting everyone after the battle has died down. If you want my opinion, play a pally. |
