Luckily you haven't missed it - DDO is still running and it's still good. In fact, I'd say it's one of the better MMOs currently on the market. :)

As much as I like this game, I have to go with "no" - there are just so many promising games set to come out this year, it's pretty likely that something will top PoE. For example:

The higher packs do, though - i.e. the $100 supporter pack gave people 1000 points, as opposed to $100 giving 1065 points now. True, the supporter packs contained additional stuff, but I think if they started giving out much better deals now then a lot of the early supporters would start complaining.

They're not hired people in most cases, they're just normal players. Charan is a diamond supporter, i.e. he's paying GGG, not the other way around. There's no way an indie company would have the resources to actually hire people to watch chat 24/7 so I'm not bothered - as long as there aren't any actual incidents of abuse.

That's pretty interesting. Personally, I feel the opposite - I'm a software developer by day, so I spend most of my time solving problems, coming up with algorithms and such. I, however, love the investigation aspect of TSW and I only use walkthroughs when I'm absolutely stumped. Then again, I like puzzles in general - I like to do crosswords, play chess etc. 

It's weird and, to be honest, even somewhat depressing to see people considering thinking to be unpleasant or a chore - I guess that's a part of the reason so many MMOs (and games in general) are so dumbed down nowadays. TSW is pretty much the only MMO where the players actually have to use their brain cells (other than, in a different sense, maybe EVE) and I really appreciate that. 

EDIT: I realized my post sounds a bit harsh. I'm not saying anyone who doesn't like investigation missions is dumb or a bad person or anything like that, I'm just throwing a different opinion into the mix. :)

TSW is by far the most graphically advanced MMO on the market, at least in technical terms. I.e. we can argue about the artstyle, but in terms of texture resolution, polygon count etc, nothing else in the genre comes close. It's no wonder the assets are large. 

The animations came up on the official forums recently and some of the problems that people saw were: 

"Character animations are still quite wooden (it's been said this is a consequence of having to decouple the lower body's actions from the upper to allow characters to move while casting),"

"The main issue with the animations is that they seem disconnected from each other. Sure some animations lead well into others but the majority don't mix well."

"At least 4 of my regularly used abilities, as a Fists Healer, look and sound -exactly- the same. Same thing with my Fist/Chaos DPS, my builder looks exactly like my consumer..."

Not gonna lie, I can't see most of these problems myself. I can get behind adding some more unique animations to each weapon, but that's it. Admittedly I'm a fanboi, but I've really looked and I can't see what's so horrible about them. I also watched the pistol video the OP linked and the animations seem perfectly fine, especially for an MMO - expecting The Witcher 2 level animations in an MMO is just unrealistic.

I think you're looking at the wrong game, bro. TESO is going to be a themepark and themeparks rely on developer-created content (instead of it being player-generated), so there's always a very finite amount of stuff available. Typically they resort to repeatable/grinding content because no developer can create quality content as fast as players go through it. I totally agree with you, though - I'd like to explore an actual world as well, but it's probably not going to happen in this game nor are there any good fantasy sandboxes out there at the moment. :(
