Darkfall Expansion - Player Housing & Weather + much more!
General Discussion « Darkfall 7/08/09 9:49:55 AM
Doesn't sound like what I would consider an expansion. It's more like a massive patch :/ fixing the many problems and things the game lacks. |

Sadly, it won't be anything like SWG or any sandbox game. It's just going to be more of the same (WoW/NGE-esque classes, levels, talent specs, items will be rewards from quests rather than entirely a part of the player-crafter economy). The only addition Bioware is making is an emphasis on story - so it will probably end up being a mix of typical MMO features and Bioware(kotor, mass effect, jade empire, neverwinter nights) quality story quests. I think bioware comes up with some decent stories but I wonder what is the point of having an MMO game where every is doing the exact same story quests. Is that really going to make players feel unique? |

original swg vet pondering return ???
General Discussion « Star Wars Galaxies 7/04/09 3:17:38 AM
SWG launch to NGE vet here. I left about a month after the NGE hit and all of my friends had already left. I've been trying the free month but I find the Legacy quest/exp grind is too time consuming and not interesting at all. I miss being able to grind a new profession template using terminal missions on Dantooine - it took far less time than these unbelievable dull Legacy quests. I'm sure some people enjoy the quests but I don't. :( Other than that, Starsider seems like the place to be if you want to find players to do raiding or pvp. (Although in my opinion, you're better off playing WoW, AoC, or EQ II for a more polished raiding system). I'm probably going to keep playing off and on until the free time is up but I have a hard time justifying grinding and questing in a game I know I'm not going to pay for or continue to play, and I'm hoping to get into the Mortal Online beta to keep me busy until it's released :D |

No girl deserves to put up with someone like you so my recommendation is to split up. You'd be doing her a huge favor. |

The Official: e3 2009 Info on TOR (Gameplay Revealed Articles!!!)
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 6/18/09 6:41:16 PM
I don't think I've ever seen so many articles covering the same insignificant amount of info. It would have been a lot easier if they just did a public demonstration and let the fans analyze it rather than leave it to these 'press' writers. :P Some of them sound clueless. |

Entertainer. Although a mix of entertainer & melee would be nice. In SWG I was Dancer/Tera Kasi most of the time. |

Only 3 classes left to be revealed... what could they be?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 6/11/09 6:58:12 AM
Seeing that they're really going for iconic star wars saga classes I think the reasoning for the classes is plain to see. - Smuggler (Han Solo) - Bounty Hunter (Boba Fett, Jango Fett) - Trooper (Commander Cody, Dash Rendar, various mercenaries from Star Wars games) - Unknown Jedi Class (Obi-Wan, Qui-gon, Luke) - Unknown Sith Class (Maul, Vader, Dooku)
Possible additions:
- Republic Noble (Leia, Amidala, Senator Bail Organa) *This class could focus on light ranged weapons, and have the ability to inspire/buff their companions. A noble might even have the benefit of an extra companion or two; to be considered bodyguards. - Sith Moff (Tarkin, etc)

Why are Bioware keeping how the game is designed a secret?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 6/09/09 7:09:59 AM

This is not about TOR beating WOW, this is about Bioware beating Blizzard
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 6/06/09 4:07:31 PM
Bioware makes games with stories that are nice for a single play-through but I haven't played a Bioware game since NWN1 that had any kind of replay value. Blizzard's games have amazing replay value - I'm still playing Starcraft now & then after 11 years.
I'm worried if Bioware will really be able to create a lot of replay-value in SWTOR. Successful MMOs need players that continue to subscribe for years and they'll burn through content/story much faster than Bioware can create it. |

Does the SW:TOR E3 trailer send the wrong message

I liked how they showed some cooperation between the different classes. Like how the bounty hunter was working with the sith. |

Good Batman game presentation. I wish they had shown gameplay of Old Republic and talked about it like this guy is doing. |

I'm listening to it and wondering when I'm going to hear something new. This is a waste of time. Are these two bozzos trying to sell this game to players or to more investors? All I'm getting from the Bioware speakers in this interview is "We understand Star Wars, we rock, our MMO will kill other MMOs". Typical arrogant MMO developers spewing out nonsense and false hopes. Let us see the actual game FFS.. |

The Matrix Online: Closing July 31, Game Over Q&A
News Discussion « General Discussion 6/01/09 2:46:56 AM
I played late in beta and at launch. It was a lot of fun but the content never really progressed and the game kind of stagnated. The MxO radio stations, parties, and faction roleplay was a blast though. |

There's too much testosterone e-peening that goes on in Eve. That and being stuck in a ship 100% of the time. I tried the game again for the 3rd or 4th time but I'm letting my subscription end this month. |

The endgame repetition isn't worth staying for but I can tell you what made Wrath of the Lich King worthwhile for me.
The answer is: the journey through Northrend. Of all the theme-park&grind t ype MMOs I have had the most fun simply questing and exploring new areas in WOTLK. When I reached level 80 and realized all there was to do was pvp instances and raids was when I realized the game could be better if it had more sandbox elements to it. More freedom to do your own thing and not have to resort to endless grinding for gear that lets you endlessly grind better.

I would be excited about it and I think Blizzard would be able to pull it off. I'm a huge fan of sandbox-esque MMOs (I played SWG for 3 years, UO freeshards, Shadowbane, Second Life) but I've also always enjoys Blizzard's Starcraft & Diablo franchises and their business style. They're proof that big business doesn't have to be self-defeating and communicate poorly with their customer base. Whatever their next MMO is it'll be great; but hopefully nothing that will detract subscribers from World of Warcraft. I don't see how that would be profitable. |
