Beta 2 starts tomorrow. I think I read somewhere that it was already open though, but I kinda doubt it... When you get and redeem your key, you have a 22 gig download ahead of you anyways.

ye i have read about it. and already download it and installed..waiting for the servers to come online :D

when is the date of that beta 2 ???  or when you get the key u can go and play instantly ?

I would really like to have a beta key please. and if that is possible 2 for me and my buddy., thanks in advance! :)

i will probably play this...And I love everything I have seen and read about it exept the lack of Healers...... Thats a big down for me cause Im usually a Healer in every game I play. Also from what i have seen the sorcerer is not Range DPS but actually melee... The other class i play when i cannot play healer is a mage, necro, warlock with range.... I hope they implement more classes that at least are mostly range... other then that I think its amazing! Also anyone know any ETA of when it gonna be released?

GW2 no trinity system cannot allow a pure class such healer or pure dps or pure Tankish...

One of the reasons i cannot look back is that.. I Like to be the healer in every game i play so that system really ruined it for me.

Basically what you are on GW2 is a DPS with some optional healing skills and survival skills (ala tank).

All these just to not force you be the one or the other and wait endlessly on queues etc etc.

Even if some classes like the elementalist and guardian are more capable on healing skills still feel weak and that role is crippled and shallow and the overall mechanics of the "No Trinity" make it no viable to play as such and be able actually to be a true healer for you team... just an extra support via heals and so much weak overall that it isnt even worth it.. it needs to be a system that actually needs healing.

What they could do to "save" the game could be to allow any class to be able to take a pure role if they want if they tune their characters accordingly..

.... or you could learn how the game actually works, instead of trying to shoe-horn it into another WoW clone.

The amount of healing you can actually achieve in GW2 is actually pretty ridiculous atm. Perhaps even more than what Anet had originally intended. You just need to know what you are doing.

Take the elementalist for example. Maybe you picked up staff and thought 'well, i only have 2 group heals, in 1 attunement, lame. And they don't even heal much, they tic for like 100 hp every couple seconds. It's like nothing! And yet... they are also water fields.. And because of that, you can combo off of them. Your allies can combo off of them. And just like that, you're measly ~500 hp AoE heal turns into a massive, chain bursting 1000+ dmg aoe heal (that can burst multiple times). And you are now healing most of your allies health back with each field.

On top of this, you can stack boons (buffs) on your allies, giving them regen, protection, more dodge, more damage, etc. You can also help them out via crowd control. Crippling mobs, knocking them away, reflecting projectiles away from your allies, etc.

.. So are you a 'pure' healer? No. But u can still keep your allies alive. You can still play the caster-support role and boost up your team. What you can't do is sit in the back and spam health bars the whole fight, while you eat a sandwich and watch cartoons. You need to pay attention, and you need to work together.

And that is what GW2 is about, and why it doesn't force specialized trinity roles. It's built around comboing abilities off your teammates. And... actual teamwork. Instead of 5 people playing by themselves, together. Which is what most (if not all) trinity MMOs have become. A group of specialized characters, who barely have to communicate, and only really need to focus on what they themselves are doing. Occasionally something might happen, and you go 'oh crap! immergency skill!' and then you're back to your mindless button pressing.

It's fine if you like that, but that was never what GW2 was trying to be. And I, for one, am glad it isn't.

I haven't played GW2 for awhile but well that kind of healing was there almost since the start. And to be able to be somewhat viable need to regem everything with those price gems that is practicaly impossible to aquire as a new player or someone that does not grind the living world events all day.

Also In WoW that i Currently play healing is a big deal and if you think you can raid while eating and be viable then you haven't play. dungeon in wow are lame and easy and u can eat.. the real stuff like raiding are not.

Also funny that you mention communication. In WoW you cannot properly Raid on normal and heroic dungeons without ventrilo and the such. on Gw2 i have never felt that i needed to be on a vent just to win an encounter also because of that  I have never made any significant ingame buddys in it. The only communication u can have and sometimes really fun one is on repeated events or elite hunting but thats it. GW2 is an endless grind and what for? for nothing... at least in WoW and other games you have the carrot in the stick and u progress your character through gearing up. In GW2 grind events over and over so u can affort mats and/or gold to get the legendary skin and that is all about. you getting no stronger in any way so u can go and play in the next TIER of content... Its super overcasual...at start i liked it but gets boring very fast....

What they could do to "save" the game could be to allow any class to be able to take a pure role if they want if they tune their characters accordingly..

For example with some respec every necro can be either pure dps, pure healer or pure tank if they want. so the groups can sort it out themselfs if they need to do something together.

As it is now, every class for pve are weak on what they do and feel shallow.

When they do something like that I might consider give it yet another shot... Bringing new living stories is pure rubbish for me and waste of resources. they could add classes, skills, races, houses, guild halls, guilds VS Guilds mechanisms/gameplay and more.

Also They could make World VS World a bit different like a mirror world exactly like the pve one but with guilds be able to build their guilds cities in that world wherever they want (or almost that) and make a system so the other guilds make sieges to take those castles etc for resources and other stuff ala darkfall for example but without that full loot... so many posibilities that are wasted on repeatedly doing the same thing...take the same castle on timer.. lose it..be able to do nothing with it if you have it..basicaly like a large scale BG... really pointless and boring...

how is the population on US and how on EU? I was playing  for few months on Darkfall original before the wipe and it was really a Ghost world... like 3-4 players every 1 hour at the most... is the same now? also it is viable now to be a pure mage or pure healer? or need like before to be a little bit of everything? also if healing is somehow viable is it a pain with targeting and all and i could accidentaly heal the enemy?

I would like to get 2 keys for me and my mate if you have any... (EU) thanks in advance :)

Hello! I would like 2 Keys if that is possible so i can test/play it with my Boyfriend. We are really bored with WoW and GW2 and we are looking for something new and fresh with lots of freedom. thanks in advance! :)

addons can bring fresh air of life on games with poor UI like ESO and WoW. I think its a plus. For those that want it minimalistic they can still have it.

I'm waiting on the pvp to see if thats its savior (for me)

im glad some people are enjoying it though i just wish i was too :( i love elder scrolls :(

I don't know how much experience you have with the mmo genre but I will say personally there has been no MMO that I liked from the start, not one.

I grew to like the ones that I loved but I didn't like any of them at the start, if you really like the series you should at least put the time in to try whatever the good content is and see if it grows on you.  Having said that of course if you don't really care them just wait for the next mmo, if Elder scrolls is important it seems silly to give up on it after a handful of beta days.

my first mmo was GW1 (kinda mmo) and i Loved it instantly!...

I few months later i tried WoW on a private server and instantly loved it and wanted to get the official game and loved it even more..  So basicaly some people can love games immediately...

Now though its really hard for me to Love a game as easy... and im not sure if thats the game or me... maybe im burned out..maybe  im expecting too much cause i have already seen many good titles.. People expect from a new game to be as solid and as much content as WoW as it is now after all these expansions... its not fair but really most people cannot realise it.

Also 10 years ago there weren't many mmos to chose from. now there are really nice games some of em AAA titles that i dont even have to pay a euro to play them... so why in that economy should i chose a game that is not really great for a box and a sub and a cash shop..and with how things go in the gaming/mmo industry that game will not be as fun because many people will jump the boat for the next big title?? I think no new mmo worth that anymore. and as i seen ESO only big strength is its IP.. Is that enough? I don't think so..you can look back at Dungeons and dragons and warhammer.. strong IPs that didn't survived all these...and also expensive title such as AGE of Conan....nothing can last if its only a quick money grabber... people now more demanding and the mmos are so many that people will let it go..in a sec.

Why thank you for that, but this is still not high quality AAA stuff. This game. It's not.

Can you add "in my opinion" next time? Thanks.

I actually played beyond 30 minutes and think the game is awesome. (Hey, that's my opinion!)

Of course it's my opinion, this is a bloody forum, is it not?

Good for you that you like it. Many people also like Britney Spears and Justin Bieber and they go on to sell millions of records. Does that mean their music is high quality or simply good? No, just means that millions of people have poor taste. And I'm not here to argue with you.

Exacty! Becuase they spent millions to created this title fast (By they best creators) that does not mean its an AAA Title by any means. Its like Fast Food! Mac are nice and cheap but we all know it gonna get u fat and kill you early..and they will never reach the quality of a Gurme ! ;)

The costs for making and running an MMO 10 years ago were nothing compared to those prices today.

The cost for making them may have increased, but servers and bandwidth overhead have only decreased in the last 10 years.

An MMO made 10 years ago wasn't expected to have 24/7 customer service, monthly or trimonthly big update patches offering unique content, world class server systems with almost zero lag, regional servers, having server staff on hand 24/7 to get servers up immediately if they crash etc.  They also didn't cost hundreds of millions of dollars to create.

Any MMO from 10 years ago (that wasn't WoW, since WoW changed the entire mmo industry) offered a service so poor that it's almost comical by today's standards.

Servers and Bandwith are cheaper now. Great Hardware is cheaper now.. Cost of Employs are lower than ever and now many young employs don't even get paid for their work just to have the experience on their resume. Cash shops on a Sub based game is not because they need to do it in order to keep their shit together, its because they know its a nice way to milk the cow even farther.. investors just gabling on the games...its not the actual cost of the game to be created and even if it was for the creation that ammount of investment get repaid in no time.. cause guess what... the actual people that actually play now (and pay) are far far far more than a couple of thousands like in 10 years ago... now any AAA title Hit the 1 million mark users peak or more.

So basicaly its everything in THEIR Favor. They don't need it. But they do it because they CAN!

i had the most fun with this game before aventurine split the Server to EU/NA........... after that there was not enough people for that huge world. also if the game was released in 2000 when players were not spoiled and asked for new content every half week then i could be going strong... Even though their updates were Really slow even for the 2000....

They better keep the low prices and lower the sub to half for ever. People wont willing to pay more sub than any other game for Darkfall a game that hardly has 200people online everyday and like 500-600 (or less) casualy at weekends..

Yeah, that's terrible.  Almost as bad as being top player on the server in a game with multiple servers.   Just horrible.

Wait, remind me again, which games other than EVE have only one copy of their game world?

Darkfall..?

I picked up the game in January this year.  It occurred to me today that the game hasn't really changed that much in that time.  Thinking this could just be misremembering on my part, I looked through the patch notes for all patches released this year.  There was a ton of rebalancing skills and traits, and a healthy amount of bug fixes.  That's nice, but it's not new content.

As far as new stuff in PVE, the highlights basically consisted of converting magic find to an account-wide system, converting tokens to an account-wide wallet, adding a group finding mechanism for dungeons, changing the daily/monthly system (then later heavily nerfing the rewards to make it not matter so much), and adding some ridiculously grindy crafting stuff to craft ascended gear.  Other than the ascended gear, that's mostly good stuff, but it's not a whole lot for 10 months worth of updates.  There was quite a bit of temporary seasonal stuff, but when you add it one patch and then take it back down a few weeks later, that's not permanent content.

But more glaring is what there wasn't:  no new zones, no new dungeons, no new personal story quests, no new classes, only one new skill, and few or no new dynamic events outside of temporary seasonal ones.  In other words, the core content of the game is nearly the same as it was 10 months ago apart from some bug fixes and rebalancing.

In one sense, that they would go 10 months without much in the way of new content isn't surprising.  It's a buy to play game, after all, and the big thing that ArenaNet can reasonably ask players to buy is new content.  Guild Wars 1 didn't have that much in the way of new content added between the launches of new campaigns, either.  But Factions added a ton of new content.  So did Nightfall.  Eye of the North added much less than any campaign, but still a lot more than we've seen added to Guild Wars 2 this year.

I largely expected ArenaNet to take the same approach with Guild Wars 2.  And they might yet be doing so.  But it's well over a year since the initial launch, and I haven't heard anything about an upcoming new campaign or expansion or any such large, new batch of PVE content.  Is ArenaNet not going to do that, but rather, save it all for Guild Wars 3?  (But don't we get to kill the other elder dragons?  Even if Jormag is the only one causing all that much trouble at the moment.)  Is the new content coming but not announced, and ArenaNet is taking its time trying to mostly get things right?

I'm not complaining, really.  The game has a lot of content as it is.  And I think a lot of players put far too much emphasis on new content while ignoring the old.  But I'm just somewhat surprised that we still don't have an announcement of an upcoming new $50 expansion/campaign/big batch of new content.  Or was there such an announcement somewhere that I missed?

The problem is they don't have any hardcore content and no meaning to it. i mean ok that last dragon was chalenging but people wont arse to go there cause they can achieve exactly the same rewards with a 1000xtimes easier content. why they bother with a hard dragon more than once..? They don't offer anything worthy to make u wanna go back to play. the only living world event that people wanted to do was the Scarlet one..casue for once the rewards were decent for what we had to do.SPVP is awesome but soon repeditive and without any real reward. same goes for WvWvW. Still after all this time there is no Carot in the stick to make u wanna log back in. The Legendary is extremely Hard to Obtain and does not even has so many visual options so why bother? when i have to find a pre cursor that is completely based on RNG.. some might get it in 1 day some play since release and still havent found it.plus some people as me hate WvWvW and still have to explore the whole map so we can complete the 100%map completion and start the legendary weapon saga... so fuck this.... The only thing that is amazing on GW2 is the Graphics, the immersive world the nice sound and lively world but thats all (oh and the no monthly sub....)
