Amazon: Pre-order FFXIV for Xbox 360
General Discussion « Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn 2/16/10 9:39:02 AM
1 spent 4 years playing EQOA on the ps2 with a year out for WoW in the middle and personally i found the pc to be a horrible thing to play on simply from the comfort side . using a kb and mouse i found i had to be sat up on a chair (the mouse tends to not work when your mouse pads sat on the sofa next to you). and after a cpl hours i had to take an unwanted break just to stop my back screaming at me.
With the ps2 EQOA game i had all my commands HK'd, and could happily sit with my roomie doing a 14 hour grind then raid session. nothing beats lying on the floor with a massive cushion and a cup of tea or curled on an armchair. Additionally the ps3 wont suffer system requirement problems or lagging in towns due to the ram requirements unlike the main town in WoW that made my old pc show me 3 out of 10 secs of game movement. getting to the bank took ages :S ive still got my mini logitech kb that sits nicely on my lap and a 500 gb hard-drive ps3 hooked up to an optima hd projector so i suspect im gonna be having a lot less techno problems than some pc users. Im also thinking iof investing in a mini keyboard that clips onto the controller if i need to. I guess it depends what your used to but my old guild from eqoa have racked up a lot of time between us on EQOA EQ2 Vanguard WoW etc and they have all said they prefer to console mmo. If they do implement Voicechat on the ps3 (which should happen np) then theres gonna be even less restriction on your game playing position. Try using a mouse and kb while your stood in the kitchen making a cup of tea then try using 1 bluetooth controller while doing the same... i guess i know who's never gonna be thirsty while stuck in the middle of a raid |

ps3 world wide servers?
General Discussion « Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn 2/16/10 9:09:18 AM
im just wondering if anyone knows if the ps3 servers will be worldwide or if they're gonna be split like the PAL NTSC stupidity console users faced with the ps2 jap/usa only FF11O, let alone the joke that Sony pulled with the EQOA game. Apparently if your a ps2 owner who lived in europe you didnt like mmo's I live in london uk and im assuming that like other ps3 games im gonna be able to play with the continents of N. and S.America the same as (non mmo) online games like e.g.CoD4 or Resi5. |

Stonewatchers - the british server reunion and a ps3 mmo server question.
General Discussion « EverQuest Online Adventures 2/16/10 8:03:30 AM
ok first the eqoa bit im not sure if any of the old european players look at the everquest page here apart from me but its just to let any that are know that a bunch of us euro eqoa'ers are reg'd in the "everquest - gone but not forgotten" open group on facebook. its to say hi n catch up with each other .
Many of the names there will be recognised by hodstock usa server players as the tunarian fellowship guild, we bought usa ps2's after soe didnt give us frontiers then shut down our servers (german french english in that order) so feel free to drop in n say hi. A cpl of the euro players are still currently on the clw server too.
(Ok now the slightly off-topic question sorry) Heres the thing about new ps3 mmo's tho, since EQOA servers were split regionally due to NTSC, PAL and (whatever the jap format is) will the new games be also? We made loads of new friends on the Hod server and by the time we retired from the game a third of our guild was american. When ps3 finally releases a new mmorpg does anyone know if sony are gonna mess us around again or are us europeans gonna be able to play with our usa/can friends again, were currently discussing ff14 as it seems to be the future ps3 mmo of choice.
i was (hodstock) - orphanmaker 60 enc / kalendra 60 war (stonewatchers) orphanmaker kalendra and autopsy 50 nec my roomie was (hodstock)- reanna 60 shaman - (stonewatchers) reanna 60 shaman / altern 50 cl |

EQOA - still my favorite MMORPG
General Discussion « EverQuest Online Adventures 4/03/09 8:32:52 AM
if you had a pre-frontiers disc theres 3 dragons i can think off. the first was a 3day timed spawn in box canyons .the southern entrance valley theres a tunnel going down at the valleys far end into a cave vox castle has a timed spawn (every 24 hours i think) for an ice dragon inside the castle on the top lvl thru the fake wall with a picture on it. the village of brog fens has a random 3day(ish) spawn guy near the well (named cordell or something) that sets off a quest to spawn a dragon in the elephants graveyard zone theres a professor (random spawn) about 2 hills north of the coast in milas reef zone. tells you to collect 3 items to spawn a giant squid called kratos in the water near the giant whale skeletons lastly theres also quest to spawn a giant spider called terrorantula near the endless tower but i forget which npc gives it. theres a few other rare bioss-spawns but i retired a year ago and forgot a lot. most of the 60 players ingame should be able to point you in the right direction tho.. with the introduction of frontiers expansion and the new Zaoran plateau areas theres now a whole bunch of large end bosses to kill but theyre mainly requiring a alrgish guild raid to spawn n kill..
good luck ingame .
