My only concern is how much time it will take to make a capable pk'er. If people can make a free account, create a character and start killing people within a few hours, it could hurt the game's other aspects quite a bit.

having watched a gameplay video it showed a guy get mugged; a clue was left behind which then put an arrow over his head pointing him to the criminal. The real mystery here for me is how can anyone possibly get away with a crime? And if every criminal gets busted then why kill or steal...or for that matter even have the system in the game?

the best part is how the negative reviews talk about the game, while most of the positive reviews are reviewing the negative reviews. I dont know if there is any significance to that; I just thought it was a funny observation.

I never had an issue. I played it as the single player game it was designed to be.

I use a P180 too,  I like the minimalist look of it.

But I'll throw my suggestion out there. http://www.cougar-world.com/products/pc_case/evolution.html

Not over the top style-wise. And both sides are removable so you can wire it through the right side and avoid cable clutter. Wish my current case could do that.

mcquaid, garriott, and now jacobs..... the social/casual gaming space is where washed up mmo devs go to die.

this topic has gone off the rails

but to me the idea just sounds like a waste of recources. There is all kinds of things to be added to the game, and putting recources into something that the vast majority of people will get nothing out of isnt very prudent. Just goes to show, vocal minorities are often the loudest.

world pvp

that is all

good controls and a streamlined UI.

None of this 30 skills and two more bars full of stuff along the side. And no more antique combat system designed for killing mobs that will just stand in front of you and let you kill them. Those things make for clumsy and tedious pvp. And then they come out with a mouse with 20 buttons on it to compensate for the poor game design.....

Would be nice to see some of the pre-order people being looked at favorably for beta testing from now till release. I mean, we've already invested some (if not all) the price of the game, how about a kick back? We've shown faith in you, would be nice to reciprocate.

ooh now Im starting to feel like a jerk. I got an invite today but didnt pre-order....but more than that, I am running xp64 on my desktop and the game doesnt support xp64. Why would they invite me?? Hopefully it will work anyway. I got the FF14 beta to work and that didnt support my OS either.

so we learned 2 things from this pole.

First, most people like the sylvari. And second, this website is a total sausage fest.

Well that is cool.

Though is it just me or does anyone else find it a bit comical that we've gotten to the stage where companies feel the need to anounce that they are going to be making an anouncment?

Lol, indeed. Nothing gets the hype rolling like anouncing that a big anouncement is coming!

it would make it more interesting and mysterious if the announcment of the announcment were done via a rumor (started by the company) rather than a press release.

there is no what if.. it will fail.

name a bioware game that has failed in the past 6 years.

my response to that is that this isnt really a bioware game. They have been making and iterating on their own gameplay for a while.....and they've tossed all that aside so that they can remake someone elses game.

hypotheticaly speaking, if swtor "failed", and here failure can mean a matter of degrees, then a few things would happen:

First, bioware would go bye bye. EA buys studios and then destroys them. It makes no buisness sense, but thats what they do; and they did it most recently with Mythic. As long as bioware cranks out the hits they should be safe..but we're talking about a very expensive (and hypothetical) failure here.

Second, other developers/publishers would shy away from making mmos and probably start flocking towards making casual facebook games (which is already happening to some degree).

Thrid, developers that would stay in the mmo space will view swtor as a cautionary tale. They will observe it with their blinders on and learn all the wrong lessons. And that point deserves to be emphasized - they would not learn any real lessons from it, they would completely misconstrue the entire debacle.

they probably are just holding these details back so that they can have a "big [exciting] announcment" later. If they say it all right now they wont have anymore carrots to dangle later on.

Honestly, I dont think he is doing anything wrong.  He has a right to cancel his pre-order if he chooses to do so.  The key is given to him for free with the preorder.  If they didnt want people to do this then they would find a better way to do it.  No one has been arrested for doing this so I wouldnt get yoru panties in a bunch about it.

Indeed. And just to throw in my 2cents; paying a $5 pre-order is not a contractual obligation to buy the game. Noone can force a pre-order to buy the game :P

But maybe he will buy it because he likes it? Who knows? Humans are very mysterious.

Roper hit the jackpot, good for him.

And before people start carrying on about how much he sucks, its not like he's going to be designing games or involved in day to day operations. He's going to wear a suit, sit behind a big desk, and look important.

Ive done that in the past. Did that with WAR and ended up not buying it at launch (or ever). I wont bother this time around. Seems like too much hassle to get off my dead ass and drive to the store just so I can try out a game. Besides, I think I already know what my purchasing decision would end up being anyway.

looks more fun and frenetic than most mmo's I see

whatever they do, they had better do it before swtor and gw2 come out. Otherwise alot of people wont notice and wont care. New-and-shiny trumps "coming soon".

you heard me right yes.

unless you think the folks at EA/Bioware are sitting back with satisfaction, nodding to eachother saying "oh yeah, we've done enough". Like I said, 150mil is a big gamble. Only a fool would declare victory several months before the game has even launched. But I know its very fashionable in some circles to believe that everyone is already going to buy the game just because its starwars and its bioware.

Does it need more marketing? It needs everything it can get.

According to you it would seem that's exactly what they're doing, I mean they're not planning for an open beta afterall...

thats more of an evasion than a response. But alright, I'll take it.

cheers yall
