They are paying the lack of a real stress test. It seems that they are facing technical problems with the server software. This can be various things like memory management, memory corruption, memory leaks, deadlocks, bad performance in general. There is no way to see these things without really stressing the software in a real production environment. Now, if this is the case, it might be very hard for them to find a solution. Depending on how well written the code is, what kind of tools they have for detecting such problems and the technical expertise of their programmers, it might take weeks until they find and create fixes for the problems.

And kill off aventurine for good. If they get a couple hundred charge-backs, they are gone. The bank will charge them chargeback fees and stop processing further orders.

This is the way gold sellers abuse MMO producers. When a producer starts to hunt gold sellers too much, the gold sellers buy lots of accounts with stolen credit cards, and then charges back all the transactions. The bank charges the producer of the game with all the charge-back fees (the amount of which grows exponentially with the number of charge-backs, and can grow many times more than the actual purchase value) and furthermore stops processing further payments for the particular producer.

This is why games producers cannot get rid of the sellers. Its a mafia!

Graphics are pretty damn good to be honest.  Clipping is bad.  World is too dark, but the shadows are nicely done.  Smooth running, I had no lag at all.

But god damn, I'm was so bored my first 20 minutes in the game, I'm going to bed.

I will try tomorrow, but right now I am less then inspired.

AV - Give us some shit to fight man.  Nothing is fun about running for 20 minutes and not seeing one freaking mob!

First reaction score - Graphics 8/10.  Gameplay: 2/10  Fun factor: 1/10, Overall 2/10  I hope it gets better!

No but really, even though I don't have a vested interest in this game, come on, trolls.  I can understand the intelligent criticism about the graphics and animations, they look like shit, and even all of you who have preordered the game know that.  I understand that they royally screwed up the preordering/launch, even though I also understand from an IST point of view that it was the right choice to limit the preorders for server stability.  But for those of you who keep saying that this game will suck for EVERYONE who plays it and that you feel "sorry" for those who preordered: come the fuck on.  It's a small company, what do you want them to do?  Have graphics as good as Crysis?  All of you who are insulting them for their forums crashing and their website not being updated need to realize that it takes TIME to do these things.  Since this is a small company, it's not unreasonable that the same people that know how to update the website are also programmers for the game, or network technicians trying to get this game launced.  They know their website is outdated I'm sure, but they simply have higher priorites for today to do anything about it right now.

The last thing, going back to those of you who say that no one will like this game: I know this will be a shocker for you, but not everyone dislikes/likes what you dislike/like.  I for one love the show Firefly, but some of my friends hate it and insist it has bad acting.  That's fine, they have their own opinions.  I'm sure you all like something some other people you know don't like.

 

Off topic from this entire post is this little miff of mine: 2 all uz whoo right liek thiss, I wrote this entire post in 4 minutes.  There's two nice-sized paragraphs there, and sure there might be some spelling mistakes, no ones perfect, but the point is it does NOT take too long to write a well-thought out and well-SPELLED post.  It only makes you look stupid and detracts from what you are trying to say if you put "df is teh best onlin gaem evr."  If you don't know enough to write anything BUT that, go take writing classes at your local community college.
