ArcheAge is exactly what PvE oriented sandbox players can get, without breaking whole sandbox idea.
Safe areas, harsh punishments for PKs, items not wearing out completely, no death penalty, no full loot - you can't make it any more safe, and still keep basic sandbox principle, that players shape the world and gameplay.

I agree with all you just wrote.  We have to be realistic however. A game is as good and healthy as the company which made it.   The MMO market isn't the same anymore.  Most don't come with a pair.  Any game that's got harcore PvP attached just don't do as well - and if so, briefly.  Something else comes along and that's that.  It doesn't help either when the masses of general PvP crowd, idiots noobs starts quacking.  There's not enough of chivalry, true and old.

ArcheAge doesn't sound like a hardcore PvP game at all. It sounds like they've tried to pick out the best options for a wide variety of players. My wife can't even play Portal 2 because of the stress of where to put the portals and you might die if you do it wrong. She might be able to play ArcheAge as a farmer. I could go running amok in city sieges and the like. That's what it sounds like anyway.

 

Last I checked it may have some harcore content.  Seiges and so forth.  Excites the crap out of me I tell you.  Sadly people may not embrace such.

To the OP:  The games you listed are either old, or shit - except Vanguard.

Vanguard is good, but been out for a long time.  People tend to be turned off by that.

But i will add you guys are an odd bunch. To only focus 100% of your time PvPing and full looting players in a Open World sand box MMO is very strange to me. Theres so much more to sandbox games then just looting people.

What is it about looting a player that is so exciting? Theres so many games out there with territorial control and massive sieging of towns and bases.

 

It's FFA PvP at core but usually FFA is more of a griefer's wet dream.  To add different servers mean people will go there and these can't gank anybody.  No more victims to go around as someone stated.  It's the bane of this type genre.

Yes, just as Darkfall, Mortal Online and all the other Full Loot PvP Games are losing to all the other PvE/PvP choice games.

Why is it so hard to get it into some thick skulls, if you want victims, quit making life hard for them or they will chose greener pastures. Douchebaggery only goes so far before that person decides they don't want any part of it. That's why these games are barely holding on. And the dev teams seem to be just as stubborn as the players about this.

Here is a buisiness tip, trust me....

Hire a few devs or hire back a few devs who can write the code for a PvE ruleset on a seperate server where PvP is optional, when that is done, advertise the hell out of it as a place for SWG fans... then sit back and profit as they all tell their friends, and low an behold, those devs now have a permanent spot on your team because their jobs pay for themselves, and I'll be damned, your company is growing... damn I make it sound too easy...

Surprised none talks about it here.  No I don't work for them.  The pop's a bit low but seems a good game overall, with multiclassing and everything.  Why so low under radar?  I see lots of folks wanting sandbox.

Free to play as human.   Many races.  Dragon included.  Crafting includes detailed player housing.  Etc.

So you guys rather see the game die out instead of adding a PvE server?  In a genre that's a bitch to find any good sandbox anymore it would be a good addition I thought.  Not difficult swinging some mobs to make things less barren.  But I understand it's about feelings.  Don't want hurt feelings.

Seriously, if you haven't opened it, sell it on ebay or take it back if you can. It's a really bad game. There are a lot of tireless fanboys who will defend the game tooth and nail, but the truth is, it's just a really bad developed game that was rushed out.

So far the only link to FF I have seen in the game is the cactuars and morobols.

If it was called Adventures in Eorzea or something else and did not have FF in the title, it would not get the amount of lee-way it has now.

To the OP:  go ahead and play the game.  Then you will see exactly that everything above is correct.

I had high hopes for this game as well.  It sucks, though.  I don't see why I can't say that.

I like games that don't force-group.  Games with both solo and group elements are fine.  Soloists don't bother me.  What I do find are the "why play mmo if you don't group" people so fucking annoying.  What a bunch of idiots.  Ingame, outside of game.  Fucking retards.

Yeah let's make this game so you'll need to group up to even go take a piss - after spamming for 3 goddam hours.  I really hate the stupid group-r-us retards.

Face it, it's all your fault.  The game is awesome.  It's just different and you're not doing it right.  Your computer is set up wrong there is no lag and you should go back to WoW.

C'mon now people...the release is silky smooth, the problem is on your end - and if you think gameplay sucks you're playing it wrong.
