Again, this isn't the biggest problem here. The problem is they knew the traffic they would be facing and didn't plan accordingly.
Tons of websites handle more traffic than they are handling right now. |

Theres a thread about it on the customer service forums... I'd link it to you but trying to use the forums puts me into a "waiting room"
They knew hype was high, they had solid pre order numbers. There's no reason for the above mentioned error, there's no reason that their forums should be on a server unable to handle this traffic. There's no reason their game servers should be so small (read a cap of 4500. Never bothered to confirm).
And the fact that's real bad, is they're aware of the credit card problem and are really taking a "eh you'll figure out a way to pay" stance on it. Rather than extend the grace time, or comp people unable to sub, they're not doing anything. "Go buy a game card" "make a paypal account".
Disgusting handling of the problem.

Different color schemes on the same loot != diversity in loot
In this day of age, reusing textures should be pretty rare. You can use the same base and add some minor detail to it, rather than using 8 different colors and calling them "different visuals" |

Assassin/Shadow: tanking and stealth
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/10/11 7:33:19 AM
So since the game's forums are down, I find myself without a venue to search for an answer without turning here...
Anyone have any information on how well stealth works for the tank specs for the Assassin and Shadow? Is it good enough for only pve, or is it viable in pvp also? Does it even work well in pve, or is it just a gimmick unless you're specced into the extra % to stealth talent?
Thanks for any information! |

Dragon Age 2 more an interactive movie than RPG
General Gaming « General Discussion 7/10/10 2:02:33 PM
So after reading this I just googled for a while, and yep. Single character, no origins. That sucks.
Still no word if it will work similar to mass effect where you can kinda come up with a simplified (worse system imo) background for yourself via answering questions. (Hopefully they still let you pick a class? That would be a horrible choice for bioware to just force you to be a warrior/rogue/mage when you wanted to choose)
However, this still doesnt fix the biggest issue that I have with the concept, which is as I finished the first game I sat there reading the ending "story-like" display where it puts in text some of the events that occurred following the blight. I was really looking forward to seeing what happened with Morigan and Alistar, seeing what happened with the Mages Circle being freed (that was my request from the queen at the end of the game....since it happened at literally the end of the game, you would think that the only reason for it being put in there was to come up as a variable in the sequel.... wonder what changed their mind...)
Really is a damn shame. I was really looking forward to the sequel.
Here's hoping they release a separate sequel designed to continue your DA:O story.
EDIT: As I was typing this someone did point out that you can choose his class. Thank god for that at least. |

Dragon Age 2 more an interactive movie than RPG

If this is true, there's no chance I'll buy it.
I just recently bought and beat the first game (still haven't beat the expansion) and was really looking forward to exporting my character (a-la Mass Effect 2). |

The new client is fantastic and I'd recommend it for your digital download source. It's chat system and in game browser is nice too

Originally posted by Riptide69 That's IT? Lord, if that was all people were unhappy about the game would be nigh on perfect. You're complaining about trivia, when there could be REAL improvements made.
Ummm, excuse me, that isn't trivia to ME. It underlies a fundamental issue to ME. And yes, there is alot more issues, that I don't care to discuss. Who the hell are you to know what's trivia to me ? I am satisfied with the responses I have received thus far. Basically it's hasn't gone through any fundamental design change. In other words there wasn't any significant changes prior to launch since I played it in open beta.
I never had the specific problems you described, although there were some issues on planets where I could see through the bottom. I played the first four days or so of open beta, then started playing again at head start. Heres some changes I noticed (or at least perceived):
Ground combat is much more fluid (although still not great and nowhere near perfect, it has definitely been improved). Leveling (ranking up) seems to go quicker, which is good because the reason I stopped playing in open beta is because it made you stay with the first ship for to long before you actually got to make your choice (of ship). The bugs involving open grouping seem to be gone and grouping doesn't make the missions exponentially more difficult. There is definitely an increase in enemies and enemy strength, but it makes it a lot more fun and hectic. Grouping now is great (for space battles) Misc. other bugs have also been resolved.
I'll sum it up like this, in open beta I thought "well, that was a waste, not going to play this" but now in head start I'm thinking that it could last, at least a month/two to give it a geniune shot because so far I'm generally enjoying myself. |

I agree, but when you're looking for something cheap and fast, Dell is usually better than going to Walmart and buying an even worse machine. None of them are built particularly well and unless you pay extra for warranties, you're going to run into that same problem time and again. Personally, just build a PC yourself. It's cheaper, all the parts do come with warranties, and if the parts are broken NewEgg (my preference) has an excellent return policy. I had a bad heat sink for an Intel cpu and it literally fried the whole computer about 5 months after building it. I had to return the cpu to Intel, but I sent evertyhing else back to NewEgg and they sent me back all brand new parts. Definately couldn't complain about that. Couldn't agree more with the build the pc yourself advice.
I did that after my terrible experience with dell and love my current set up. 2 years and running strong.
Even if you have no knowledge or no desire to build your own system, you could pick out the parts, have someone knowledgeable look over them, then buy them. After they get delivered you could go to a computer support store (dont dont dont use bestbuy...I'm sure they over charge like no one's business) and they can put it together for you. I know a local store here charges 85/hour (it only takes an hour to build it) and then another 85 to install the operating system (which is a complete rip off...even with basic computer knowledge I'd think you could install the operating system yourself...), but the point I'm getting at is that 85 dollars (to have someone else build it for you) would still result in a cheaper machine with higher quality parts then the Malaysian made piece of shit hardware that Dell uses.
Also, I fully agree with the endoresment of Newegg. They will forever get my business because of their amazing return policy and fantastic (bar none in my experience) costumer service.

Poll: What ship "class" will you choose?

Subject line says it all, just wondering what the community was looking forward to using as their ship type.
I'm personally leaning towards escort right now, but still leaving the possibility of getting a cruiser. |

Hey everyone,
So I'm in the beta, and really liking it so far. However, I've got a question about uniform colors...I was under the impression that it was: Yellow = engineering/security/tactical Red = Command Blue = Medical/Science
It seems though that the game has switched red to mean security/tactical and kept yellow as engineering, and also included red as command (as seen by the fact that the admiral and other captains are wearing red, and the tactical bridge officer position is color coded red).
So I'm just wondering if there was a change in the cannon, or if I missed something, or if this is a star trek online thing only.
thanks. |

My concern with the "Klingon being pvp focused"...PvP viability of Federation?
General Discussion « Star Trek Online 12/18/09 9:07:00 AM
So Cryptic has said that klingon's will focus largely on pvp because pve content will be minute at launch.
My concern/question relates to whether they are "focused" on pvp just because the lack of pve content, or if their ships will also innately be better suited for pvp in a way that hampers federation competitiveness in combat?
For instance, Cryptic released information about a klingon cruiser that will launch fighters, and it will be the only ship in the game able to do such a thing. Has there been any information about a unique ship mechanic for federation ships?
I know about klingon's getting cloaks, which isn't a problem for me (given that you can't shield while cloaked), but my concern stems from the fact that ship on ship pvp combat is a major (the major) thing that draws me towards the game, but I kinda have a thing about being human in fantasy/sci fi games I play.
Just wondering if anyone is understanding something I'm not, or even if you have the same concern. |

One of the things I'm looking forward for information about as well.
Great article by the way, lots of insight on racial bonuses (kinda sucks, looks like humans aren't getting the best ones, and I kinda have a thing about being human in my games...we'll see how that crew bonus works though)
