Cool, glad to see another member to the game. Been a lot of new players lately. Hopefully the trend keeps up. There has been some crazy border skirmish stuff going on!!!

vendetta has a 9.99/month fee but its cheaper in bulk. You can find the game cheap or retail (sometimes 3-4$) and those come with a free month.

Vendetta Online is quite the challenge PVP wise. Its a twitch combat system and allows multiple ways to fight joysticks, mouse, and many other options.  Big missions allow major combat between large fighter class ships, other players, and large frigates etc. Quite an intense combat system.

You up for the challenge?

Vendetta Online doesn't have all the features your looking for but it definitely is "mildly close".

PlayerBase/Community: The game population itself is rather small due to it being an underground type of game. With that being said however the community is probably one of the best I've ever experienced out of the dozens of mmo's I've played. Very friendly and fun group of people.

PVP: The PVP in this game is intense. The game itself is a FPS type flight simulator combat. There are multiple ways to fight and multiple strategies to it. Mouse/Keyboard, joystick, double joystick, flight assist on/off, mouselook on/off. Since its a twitch fight combat system the combat gets very very intense, especially in regions of gray space and the border between the itani and serco (there has been a large war taking place there with a border skirmish and border patrol mission available.) In the border battles large capital ships and frigates along with smaller fighter, bombers, mine layers, etc get into a heavy exchange of fire daily.

Eventually, sectors on the border will be winnable by faction (serco and itani). If you chose to you can also man a turret inside one of the larger ships and fire at enemies that way. Soon capital ships and frigates and even stations will be available to be built by guilds and people leading to a more interesting and dynamic universe.

Housing/cities/etc: Currently unavailble but planned in the near future. The Closer the game nears 2.0 the better.

Crafting: The game for a while didn't offer any crafting abilities but recently (past few months) missions are beginning to introduce more crafting to the game. Likely in the coming months more crafting will be available and be more mainstream and easier.

Interesting Leveling System: License system based on Combat, Light Weapons, Heavy Weapons, Trade, and Mining. License points can be earned through missions, killing things, mining, selling things, etc etc. Kind of unoriginal yet simple.

Skill tree: There are a few mission trees but skills are mainly non-existant at this point. How well you do in PVP mainly depends on your skill but also ship and weapon play heavily into it.

Other interesting stuff: There is the PCC which you can create your on missions on the test server (some player created missions have been added to the game.

The game itself is made by 4 people, quite a small dev group (you'll communicate with them frequently) but dedicated and always rolling something new out.

Dynamic hive bot system: The hive (group of rogue bots will expand and contract depending on the players interaction with them)

Devs implement things you suggest: Many times devs have implemented player suggestions into the game. Thats always good :).

Check it out!

Earth and Beyond 2 or Vendetta Online 2.0

*** Vendetta 1.8.0

- Two new hives, centered in Metana and Rhamus
- Jump point indicator icon moved out about 200m so that it doesn't disappear behind you the instant you can activate
- Fixed bug where jump point indicator would be mixed up at the moment storms started/ended
- Linux joystick calibration utility disabled; it didn't work at all but we will fix it!

Explanation:

The Hive was first engineered to be used to collect minerals fast and easily by corporations and factions. These robots mined non stop as output of minerals increased rapidly as well as profits. Some where along the line (whether it be malfunction or sabotage) the robots encountered a bug that overwrote its functions and created a deadly swarm of attack robots.

Since the malfunction the robots have unified it seems in goal. They still mine but now use the minerals to manufacture newer and bigger bots. Some of these are a direct threat to stations and wormholes although they rarely pass through such areas. Despite sticking mainly to mineral based areas the Hive has been growing and it seems that three distinct regions have formed. The Rhamus Hive, The Metana Hive, and the Sedina Hive.

Although those regions consist of the major hive infestation they have continued to spread, gain more resources, and create a larger more dangerous force. Whether or not the space travelers ignore this presence or seek to destroy it is up for choice but one thing is sure; if left alone it will multiply and threaten human life as we know it.

Vendetta Online is a space based mmo in which your the pilot of a spaceship. Yea its similar to that of EVE in the genre but thats about it because this game has twitch based combat in which you must duck dive roll strafe and turbo to avoid getting hit and to help you hit others.

The PVP is top notch and is obviously the most interesting and challenging (in a good way) i have ever seen. 4 ways to fly your ship with flight assist and auto target (each has its positives and negatives) on top of the numerous controls to strafe duck and dive. PVP can be very intense especially in nation wars, border patrols, border skirmishes, and capital ship battles.

On  top of the great PVP the PVE system is flourishing in VO. The PVE enemies are mainly collector bots who due to a malfunction many years ago have gone rogue. The can be easy bots that have a little challenge but they can also range upwards to large hive bots like the queen and leviathin the latter is larger than most stations in game. These can take multiple people to bring down and recently a dynamic hive (hive is the term named for the robot force that grows by mining and manufacturing new bots and spreading out.) has been spreading out from its initial areas into surrounding regions. Unless the players of the game destroy these hives then they will continue to spread and run rampant throughout the universe.

Vendetta Online requires a lot of skill of combat between players. Its a space based mmo so you have to use multiple keys (QWERASDF +tab) in combat as well as have 4 combat styles to chose from (Auto Target+ Flight assist, No auto target + flight assist, auto target + no flight assist, or no auto target or no flight assist).

This makes combat very unique from person to person and creates a challenge in every skirmish. On top of that you have the ability to plugin a joystick and use it if you like (or two) so combat can be very varied. It takes skill and licenses (levels) to be a great fighter pilot but many suceed in it.

Yea this vote definitely sucks this year. Only like 15 games to chose from total.  How about best underdog mmo!  Allowing people to chose from games other than wow, eq, eve, and etc. Definitely saddened due to the lack of options available.

Vendetta Online is a good Sci Fi mmorpg but it does have pvp in it but it is avoidable.

It's too bad Earth and Beyond closed down because it sounds like it would be a perfect pick for you.

I'm curious as to how many EVE players came from other games that failed or went bad for a period of time.  (Specifically SWG, Earth and Beyond, Asheron's Call 2, Motor City Online, and any other possible game)

Thanks for the help!
