Just had to reply to two points, want fun fishing go play zelda n64 soo good copy paste tht + a few bells and whistles .Two,flying mounts are great just need something to make us  WANT  to land and do ground events fly /land /fly land.

Toontown/animal crossing both had good fishing too IMO.  Remember tho we are Wildstar so likely you'll be tossing explosives into the water to blow things up or something equally offbeat...unless you're used to getting eaten by mining nodes in other games, we usually have our own spin on it.

A treasure chest went mental and tried to eat me when I opened it in neverwinter yesterday. Was somewhat of shock, but COOL. More stuff like this pls.

Can you give any information on how you going to cater to solo players at Eldergame?

Sure:  Short form is we're aiming for at least one big dynamic area chock full of PQs and other solo/semi-solo content, regular new consumable content advancing the world story (approximately once a month but if we're cool like the GW2 guys we'll speed it up even more), deep housing stuff (some revealed some not), and more.  Around the end of the summer we'll lift the veil on a lot of the elder game plans in detail so that it's not hand-wavey answers.

So Launch is going to be at least after the end of summer if you still have plans to be announcing things "around the end of summer". Sounds like you have a rough timetable in mind. Can you let slip any dates? October launch?

Legally, they have done nothing wrong. Unfortunately its a case of go read the Terms of Service. You dont own anything in the game, you get a license to play, SOE have a right to make changes etc etc

Ethically, and Customer service wise, they have screwed up badly.

I really dont get people who "Pay to Win" whether that is buying gear or xp boosts or whatever.

If you want to play an MMO, then PLAY THE MMO, why are you paying to NOT play the MMO?

I dont think enjoyment comes from a higher total amount of "live" skills you can have at once, more the way they interact and compliment each other so that you can form cunning builds. I think GW1 really got it right in this respect.

If you have a total of (for instance) 8 skills, and those 8 skills are all you can ever use and they never change like GW2, this gets boring quickly. If you have a huge array of skills to choose from, but can select any 8 at a time, this promotes the creation of builds that utilise the way the skills interact with each other with interesting effects that sometimes even the devs havent thought of, and creating these builds is a skill, and enjoyable in and of itself.

Of course, this means that the devs have to spend a lot more time balancing the way the skills work and interact with each other, having to not just think "Skill X does Y", but "Skill X does Y, Skill X does Y and Z when used with skill A etc"

Actually you can change your skills in GW2. For one you get a second weapon to swap to in the middle of a fight which gives you 4 more weapon skills to use. Also in between fights you can change your utility skills however often you want.

Elementalists actually get 4 attunements to sweap between each with 4 unique skills and effects. And this happens in the middle of fights. So for them that's actually 20 skills right there that are active. And trust me, they have to use them all.

Yeah, kinda missed the point of the post...

Not really, since you said "if you have 8 that never change like GW2" when in fact you have a lot more which you can change. What am I missing here?

How can I miss the point, when your point was false and therefore invalid.

OK, forget that I mentioned GW2 because clearly you are intent on defending it, even though I wasnt actually bashing GW2, I was trying to make a point about fixed skills.  Remove the words "like" & "GW2" then re-read my post. I look forward to any constructive meaningful replies :)

LOL well spotted.

A bit off topic, but do you guys prefer strawberry shortcake or peach cobbler?

Cookies FTW!

The official forums are down too. When something at PWI crashes, it would seem EVERYTHING crashes.

PWI really need to invest in some new server architecture. They have been using the same architecture on all of their games for years, and its just out of date. Every time they launch a new game, the same problems. Then eventually they go away because people leave and they dont bother fixing/upgrading it.

Im sure its been said before, but this looks like a spiritual successor to Freelancer. Loved that game.
I have been experiencing the same problems. Not noticed it so much with effects etc but when in high pop areas ie protectors enclave it lags hard, which makes me think its server lag. Try switching to a less populated instance to see if it clears it up.
Aaaaaaannnnnnnddddd there goes the starwars francise. *sigh*
Westernized character models please.

*points and laughs*

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha NO.

The game itself is pretty good and reminds me a bit of Chronicles of Spellborn, but the way they implemented the cash shop made the game impossible to play without spending $$$$$$

Downloading, going to try it. What server are you on and what name? Message me if you want, I want to play on that server.

Anyone else have any recommendations? :)

Based on your criteria, I'll second the LOTRO suggestion. F2P, good graphics and a good community.

Last time I played LOTRO I dropped it quickly. This time, it's kind of interesting. That was when it first started, so maybe now my viewing on different mmorpg's has changed. I'm hoping to get in this soon and level with other people. I think for the past years with mmorpg's the problem with me is, I've just wanted to get to the max level way too quickly and haven't enjoyed the games.

Whilst I found LOTRO to be a deep and interesting game, the slow and uninteresting combat ruined it for me. Of course, this is just my opinion but I really couldnt get excited by the combat. The Lore, Storytelling, quests, atmosphere, community and everything else was great but the combat bored me.

We who enjoyed MMO that took time to play, accomplish ingame really matters, crafters had names, dungeons were hard, even get a level were a accomplish in it self, everything we did back then really matters and it really felt good.

Now you play MMOs atleast western ones on autopilot, you don't really need a guild, you dont really need friends, everything is layed out for you to play from A to B solo, even the dungeons and raids gets on farm mode within a week it gets released.

And the sad part for me is that the younger generation seems to enjoy this, instant gratification crowd no wonder game studios seems to make clones left and right when it sells so good............for a month.........then they return on this board and the sead game board and whine there is nothing to do at endgame and wait for the next big thing.

Some of you might know me from GW2 forums and thinks hey you talking about yourself why on earth are you even making a thread like this when you play GW2?

Why I play GW2 is not because it's easy or hard I play it because Anet broke the WoW mold simple as that, I can finally play a game were I'm free to do what I want, and yes I would love this game to be less solo friendly and more hardcore.

Just wanted to say that for you guys who love to make a post history.

So are we old farts ever going back to the old days with some modifications or are we stuck with instant gratification generation and pray for some indi company who has money to do it right?

Crafters with a name is a very simple thing to acheive - an inscription on a peice of crafted gear that says "Crafted by X", which new MMOs seem to always leave out.

<joke>

I pledged $5 just so that I could come and grief the CU fanboys on the official forums ;)

</joke>

Impressive trailer. Maybe representative of dust but nothing like eve.....

I never completely rule out a game until its been live for a while, and reviews from real players have come in.

Saying that, it would take some pretty damn amazing reviews for me to ever look at an EA game ever again.
