Ok I'll bite (prob to a guy who's never built a site in his life) whats so bad about it?

That aside... How is WoD = to DF?

WoD is like a fine wine. To those familiar with it, it is excellence. To those used to swill (WoW, WAR, FF and so on) they are over whelmed by it and thus turned off by it for the only reason it is beyond them. :)

Some interesting new info however slight is now posted on the front page news, FYI.

Let me guess, didn't get huged enough growing up? ;)

If the CCP reply didn't give you a chuckle then I think you need to look under your bed for your sense of humor which you apparently misplaced :P

One of my site members emailed CCP asking if the WoDO project was still ongoing since no news has surfaced as of late. The reply shows you they have a good sense of humor, you can see the details here.

Apologizes if I didn't make that clear. Since my site isn't commercial, no this isn't a paying job. But as I indicated there are certainly fringe benefits.

If you do there is a EVE Online meet and greet w/ the devs in early May in that city. I can prob pull a string or two and if all goes well get your press creds for my wodonlinenews.net site. Yes, I am sending you into a EVE event to badger the devs into talking about WoDO (World of Darkness Online). If you choose to do this you need to be mature and professional as you will in essence be representing my site. Thus no acting like a ass clown which simply makes us look bad. I don't care about blitzing them about WoDO info that's your job as press to ask things they don't want to talk about, however, doing it tactfully and in a proper manor is what would be required.

The up side of doing this 'work' is you get to hang at the event with press creds, talk to the devs and get, hopfully some inside info to report and perhap make some industry contacts for yourself.

Thus if anyone feels they are able and up for the job contact me via the WoD Online News site. Thank you.

i think providing a forum for the game would at least give people to opportunity to discuss it and get updates on its progress, its like when there was (and i think still is) a 16 page thread on link realms in the pub it stops huge threads like that cloggin up the main forum when people could talk specifically about it in an individual forum.

Or just come to my site ;)

These games are way too low budget to add. If you start adding these games your list will grow to a few thousand games easily. There's already like 400 games on the list...zzzzzzzzzz.

I am pretty sure CCP isn't considered a 'run out of the garage' venture. EVE as of a yr ago had over 230,000 active subs (they have more now as every yr their sub rate goes up) and they just broke a record of most players on at one time (somewhere around 55K.. on one virtual server/world/instance). Not too bad.

While they may not be the size of Sony I think they are far from 'low budget'

There's a few in-dev MMOs looking promising that are not listed here, such as Crimecraft. WOD needs to be added though, I agree it's way overdue.

Crimecraft is on its way. We're looking at getting that one listed shortly.

As to World of Darkness. At the moment, it doesn't meet our criteria. CCP isn't talking about the project, and so there really isn't any information available. I will say this though. At FanFest, CCP announced that they had moved a HUGE number of their staff from other project (one would assume including WOD) , to work on EVE, so I honestly don't know what teh current state of that game's development is.

Well the fact is they have said AFTER the eve expasion is released next month (which is where a lot of their man power is currently going) WoDO is going in full production there after. Right now, technically, they are still in pre-production thus not a huge shock they may not be fully staffed right now.

That a side while the info has been little there HAS been info released. You can see the confirmed info on my wiki. It's not a huge amount granted but not too bad for a project they are trying to keep 'secret'  ;)

hey everybody,  most of you know probably that World of Darkness is in the making but i just saw this article that was posted just a few weeks ago saying maybe 2010, would this even be possible or if anybody has any info on this please post.  here is the link too.  thanks

For the record we broke that news, they took it from blues who got it from us. :)

That a side since they have been working on the game to some degree since last half of 2006 and going into full production mode next month on it, its possible for a late 2010 release, almost 2 yrs of full dev time. However given almost every project of this size gets pushed back at least once, the safe bet is 2011 IMO.

If you want some dedicated WoDO forums you can simply pop over to the forums of wod online news. We have a pretty active forum of wod online fans :)

What exactly is this MMO about?

It's based on the Pen and Paper RPG by White Wolf  Vampire:The Requiem (Previously Vampire: The Masquarade). The single player PC game that came out a few years ago Vampire: Bloodlines was based on the game system and setting.

In a nutshell the World of Darkness setting is a fictional world similar to ours however with a much more gothic influence, a little more leaning towards anarchy with the vampires of night pulling the strings behind the scenes of the moral world. All most all mortals as in our world, in WoD think vampires are a myth, however there are many clans and factions of them not only fighting between themselves (both politically and physically) but also age old wars with the like of werewolfs and other monsters of the night.

Hope that clarifies :)

More info can be found here at the wiki on my site.

For those following this MMORPG...

A interesting article about MMO's, CCP and Eve Online however there is a quick blurb about WoD Online as follows:

After the release of Eve Online’s expansion in March, the company will focus on creating another multi-player game based on the popular World of Darkness fictional universes created by White Wolf.

So as some predicted it does seem first half of this year is going to be when things really ramp up, March exactly.
