and yes i had a falcon. and i was never killed in my falcon(as far as I remember) now my rook, Scorp, and blackbird. . . well, that's another matter.
but then again I always said. "It's not a party till a Blackbird Dies :D" |

Greetings Been playing SoR for bout 2 days now, so pls don't think this review is totally good or accurate or. .. whatever :) first off. the download, took me roughly 2-3 hours and some of the DL sites didn't work.(but don't let that dissuade ya) while your downloading the game goto the free flash games the internet has to offer. www.addictinggames.com i would give that sight a pg-14 rating btw second char creation, you can choose from 4 races(i don't think they have different stats, but they might, i'm a noob, hopefully if the races do have different starting stats, somebody more experienced than me will correct me) and then you pick what your char wants to be. a lil note here SoR is not like any rpg, mmorpg like your prolly used to(if your used to WoW, EQ, or the others out there kinda like those) What do i mean by that? well if you kill something while using magic, you'll get exp in magic(it's a skill tree, that branches off into more specific aspects of magic) if you kill someting using melee weapons, you'll get exp in fighting(same kinda idea as the magic tree) if ya kill someting using a combination of the 2, your exp will be divided accordingly(depending on what u used most to kill it(like if u took 3/4 of it's hp away with a spell, then 75% of the total exp will goto magic tree and that 1/4 u used to kill it with a blade, 1/4 goes to fighting) there are not any lvls per say in this game. you can't look at your char and say, oh wow i'm a 34 Mage, or a 54 fighter. the closest thing that i can compare to that is the "levels" you get in your trees. but even that can be misguided. because with every level you advance in a tree, you get 10 points to spend in that tree(and you have to buy everything spells, power moves for fighting etc etc) so if you want to advance you stats(HP, MP etc etc etc) your gonna have to spend some of those points on the upgrades. now lets talk about one of the features that really make this game shine. the, for lack of a better name, skill blueprint section in SoR you can custom tailor your spells, fighting moves, skills to how you like it. That doesn't mean you can take a lvl 1 acid spell and make it a super kill em all AoE spell. but you can offset your manna cost(which is called sap in this game) with range modifiers and time modifiers. How so? well lets take a look at a lvl 1 acid spell. in the blueprint area it's -10 points, so you are gonna have to put credit points till it either is 0 or in positive numbers. so you can put in range modifiers. lets say you put in a lvl 1 range modifier(it shortens how far the spell will shoot out) that lvl 1 range modifer gives you +4 points. then lets slap on her a lvl 1time increaser credit also giving you +4 points. and last but not least we'll put on her a lvl 1 sap cost(how much mp the spell will cost ya) and it's worth +2 points hmmm 2+4+4 = 10 and now your overall blueprint for the spell is now 0(at which u can save the blueprint and now cast the spell whenever you want. of course if you bought enough credit moduals(remember above bout the exp levels turning into 10 spendable points) you could have the spell be extremely short ranged, or have an extremely long casting time or even only cost your mp(they call it in here sap)but the choise is yours. and that "blueprint system works for fighting skills, magic spells, harvest skills etc etc etc. one word bout crafting, it looks nice. i haven't advanced all that much in there, but it looks like you get exp for making stuff, which you then u use to buy crafting blueprints(kinda the same way you would do to buy spell components or fighting skills) the UI, will be explained in game, as well as how to use all these new things by the trainers. as far as i could tell, everything will be explained at your starter village, all you have to do is ask.
Overall it looks to be a swell game. If your bored of the current batch of mmorpg's then pls check this one out. any questions? pls reply and i'll try my best to get em answered.

I played a whole buncha mmo's
liked WoW but got bored Rather fast after i peaked(BG grinding for pvp gear, can kill anything) liked Eve but after the nerfed the ewar, i didn't have the heart to continue on(all 5's and such on my primary and secondary skills, i made him ewar as soon as i learned what ewar was) didn't like SWG (the RP was askewed from my perspective, and the questing was a lil too repetive) kinda liked jumpgate(but i'm waiting for star trek online) didn't really like vendetta online(couldn't get my head around the fact of a space sim without shields) other mmo's and such well they come and go. i'm looking for a sword and sorcercy game. with in depth char creation, lost of spells and such. currently playing perfect world. don't know yet if i can make a good oppinion, but atm it seems a lil basic, but that could be cause i just started. any ideas mates? |

sorry folks, my post was a lil brief
first problem. as i was doing the legacy quest(that quest that spands 10+ Levels) I was going out killin stuff and such for one of the huts, i was a contracted murderer, a gopher, a rent collector etc etc etc. I was tryin to be a jedi(now tell me how RP is it for a good jedi to go around and make an example of some runaway droids by first hurting them and then killing them) second problem grindfest(don't mind grinding, but hate it when every quest is basically cookie cutter. Goto place x and kill x number of x, or goto place y and kil y to gather y number of y, That right there is like 75% of the game i heard that SWG was good in it's glory days though |

you can search these forums for countless ideas about WoW i'm not gonna be long because of that(and i'm lazy) :D the game was fun for me, Very user friendly, and imho Eve online only rivaled it, but that's almost comparing apples to oranges.
get the game, you won't be let down.
you may get bored after you capp, but not until then |

I cannot wait til this goes online. just wanted to say that :) |

it's a space sim and it's not point and click, you actuall fly around kinda like freelancer or privateer or even terminious, but it didn't have any shields. a space sim without shields?? if your lookin for a game like this, may i humbly suggest a freelancer mod, or jumpgate. but it's your choise and money |

this game wasn't RP friendly. and unfourtantly other games just had more to give :( |

if you like squad pvp, you may like this until the scouts . . .
General Discussion « Shadowbane 12/23/08 11:15:14 PM
Good game if not for the fact that scouts are the only class that can see anyone, cloaked or not cloaked(as soon as they maxx out a certain skill, which doesn't take too long) and that makes Everyone and thier brother, sister, mother, cousin, uncle, sister's childhood friend's mother's former roomate all play at least 2 or 3 scouts(1 for ranger, 1 for melee, and 1 to try to spy on everyone) to give you a lil idea, scout characters usually made up at least 30 to 50% of the server population at any given time |

why go back if your enjoying what your doing now. imho i wouldn't go back, but then again that's my oppinion. |
|

i finished the turtorial(which took me longer than a half hour) but if your like Obsessive about RP, then take a look at this game. your be in hog heaven by half way through the char creation.
just a lil too much on the RP and not user friendly enough.
but if your hardcore RP check it out

mate, JG is a cool game, but like Eve i would suggest you read the forums and look for a DL manual. I played this game back in 2000 and Babbages actually had a disk copy and i read the manual, from cover to cover, and that(and lookin at newbie guides in forums) saved me Hours of frustration. |

my review on why you Shouldn't DL this game(take it or leave it)
General Discussion « Rubies of Eventide 12/23/08 10:46:09 PM
the game itself was a nice game, liked the idea of the way you train up most of your skills(it's a point system you aquire from killin mobs) the game had average items and such from the time i played. but here are the cons Very few players(on average i saw bout 12 or so players online with sometimes it going up to 20ish to other times 3 or 4) website and forums are laggy and buggy http://forums.eventide.net/forums/ubbthreads.php there's the forums website, it worked 1 in 5 for me. i had to DL this game 3 times(third time was a charm) but that could had been on my connection(though i have cable, but you can never know) not really newb friendly(i'll explain some more below) with the fact that some of the skills in the game weren't fully working and the fact the website and forums was too buggy from time to time to see if there was an actual post about it. as well as the download was an older version and you had to search to find the patch(unfourtantly i didn't get it because of buggy website) The UI was kinda basic, and wasn't user friendly. certain items stacked, but that was found out only by trial and error. there's a reputation system in the game, but i don't know if it's implemited, and the PvP is optional, again from what i was read on the site when it worked. and finally lack of community/friendly support in the game(this was my biggest gripe). now we all have seen peeps who come in and never read anything, and start talkin or doing something Horribly wrong. most times we ignore these folks or some of us may kindly redirect them to the propper way of doing/saying it. not here. while i played the game, all i ever say was people calling others stupid nOObs, or most times they telling the peeps, congratz, your on ignore. now i can understand if someone came on saying they had personal relations with your next of kin or what Rather Graffically. but what i saw that Peturbed me the most, was people askin for help in the wrong channel and gettin raked over the coals or people helping said people and They get raked over the coals for helpin them. or peeps "chattin" in the wrong channel, and other peeps try to kindly redirect them to chat in another channel, only to have "sages" to come on and lock up certain channels and then yell at said players for being in the wrong channel(not being respectful or neutral in the situation) in a game that is fallin off the map because of no players, you would think that they would try to encourage comradery.
But then again i could be biased on my review. I was banned for 1 day for saying "WTF", meaning What the Fregk, but i guess where these gm and admins are that means something else) i didn't get a warning, my account was suspended for a day. I tried to explain this on IRC, but i was told that i should had read the ToS and the Manual(the Tos is at the installiation, and the manual is on the website) there ya go folks, hope you like. the game has 3 servers, but like i said. i would suggest you look elsewere, unless you like playing on your own (edited for a glaring Typo, that made absolutly no sense) :) |

This mmo is like nothing you ever played before, i been playing mmo's since 2000 and eve is the only one that i found different than all the rest.
how you train your skills that in of it self is a double edged sword. unlike other games where you have to do stuff in order to increase or spend points or whatever, in eve you plug in a skill, and the game automatically trains the skill for you (a lvl 1 skill may take 20 minutes of actual time before you complete it, and you can turn off the game and come back in 20 minutes, or play, whatever you feel like, while a lvl 5 skill will take you up to a month or better, of actual time) like i said, this game isn't for the casual gamer mates. |

didn't play this one long, i would still recommend it, if your lookin for a lil "back to the nintendo days" otherwise :) |
|

Tha game was nice, didn't play it much when it came out(was playin EQ before this, so my person mmo was a lil burned) but i would also reccomend it as well |
