a MMO like starfleet comand 3. Anything out there?
LFGame « General Discussion 1/12/12 12:12:08 PM
i have indeed played Jumpgate(it was my first MMo i played back in 2000) but alas, it is not like SFC3. it's more along the lines of freelancer(spaceship sim shooter) no sub systems just shields and armor and then boom(unless they totally evamped the game)
was lookin forward to jumpgae reloaded or somthing like that, but that too went the way of the Dodo.
but don't get me wrong, i value your replies, it's just that, i don't see the connection that you make between what i would like to play and what your offering(like your taking me to McDonalds when i told you I want a Taco) but no worries m8, i would rather you try to give me something rather than nothing at all.
but if i could find peeps who readily play the board games. . .
that's why i was hoping I missed something that you all mighta seen
the search continues.

a MMO like starfleet comand 3. Anything out there?
LFGame « General Discussion 1/12/12 3:38:05 AM
I disagree with you in the fact that comparing Eve and SFC3 is like comparing apples to oranges. The combat is totally different. eve you just shoot guns/missles at another target, there are no sub system targeting, disabeling, or even weapon arcs
thanyou for your reply, but i must continue to keep looking. |

a MMO like starfleet comand 3. Anything out there?
LFGame « General Discussion 1/10/12 12:01:13 PM
So i'm levelin up my BH in SWTOR. gettin kinda bored with it as i see WOW all over it. but then again, any MMO that comes out now, will prolly always have WOW all over it.
But what i been "hankerin" for is a Game that is like Starfleet command 3(space tactical sim) but has the mmo elements. what i liked about SFC3 was the fact that you had so many fascets to combat. not just your run of the mill break shields, break armor, blow ship up. I mean you had shield positioning, secondary systems to damage, marines to send over to capture or blow Schuff up. Those of you that have played it, know what I mean about the "in detail Depth" that SFC3 space combat had to offer.
If you never played StarFleetCommand 3, then you prolly shouldn't reply. as i have found that the nuances of the game, has to be played to be seen. . . so to speak.
any help out there?
TL;DR? Looking for a StarFleetCommand3 type MMO |

free tio play FPS. . . are they all like APB when dealin with hackers and game mechanics?
LFGame « General Discussion 12/08/11 4:14:04 AM
Well switching between Vanguard(for my crafting fix) and APB reloaded for blowing off steam. Doing the free trial on Vanguard. most likely i'll goto EQ2 and hope thier FTP servers are filled with players. i dunno, Vanguard is still glitchy and can be a ghosttown on the Isle of Dawn(which used to have people like 24/7)
Well i got sick of the opponent matching system as well as the hackers in APB. So i left it for 3 or 4 months ago. but during this week, I give it another try.
Well the damn game still has horrible matching system and hackers. though, I didn't see the sheer number of hackers as i did before(btw I'm talking obvious hackers. like when you die through the wall, stun ole dude and you cant get behind him. etc etc)
tonight my new char was pitted against a lvl 93 guy(i'm lvl 11 at the time) but enough about How horrible APB is.
Is there such a thing as a free to play first Person shooter that isn't riddeled with hackers or have obvious flaws in thier game mechanics?. |

WOW!, looks like everybody is lookin for a crafting game. go figure
LFGame « General Discussion 12/07/11 2:10:40 AM
Well i looked at the other posts and i too realized something.
I'll never be able to research all the MMO's out there.
but you(collectivly) have.
My perfect game would have the econ of Eve. The death penalty and polotics as well as crafter need(from what i remember) of darkfall. The crafting of Vanguard(seriously, out of all the crafting mmo's I played Vanguard has always won hands down. EQ2 comes in a far 2nd) The commercialabilty and development of WoW and the lore/quests of LOTR or EQ2
Barring the fact the "Perfect MMO" in my eyes isn't out there. is there anything any of you seen that comes close? if not is there any other games out there that is comparable to crafting of vanguard. For me Crafting has to mean something. is not a money sink. you can be self sufficient with it. and most importantly there is a need for it in the game.
Good Luck folks! |

Well I DL Vanguard again. and went into EU server. . .
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 12/04/11 2:10:16 AM
While i'm searching. could you pls explain the concept of points per level
i look at humans and they can put up to 5 points per level after 10, while other races can only do 4. but i do see they get bonuses to stats per lvl. so my question, as i understand it. other races get bonus points Plus the 4 points per level while humans only get 5 points per level.
would somebody pls explain to me how it is actually, conisiderin i'm pretty sure i'm wrong on this. |

i think the best sandbox mmo was for me was haven and hearth(before the XP earn change) but the problem with that was it was a small community mainly filled with psychos and hoodlums. but that was because mainly of the perm. death so to speak. or some other reason that escaped me. I would still be playin in world 6 but the whole discovery/curio/crafter curio just threw me off the entire game.
bottom line is, i'll prolly not find a sandbox mmo i will like as i have pretty expectations. would love to play vanguard cause the crafting in that game was phenominal. but alas the nazis of gaming own it, and I can't get thier bloody site to allow me to download it. aren't they shuttin it down soon? |

Greets here is a list to help you guys.
Haven and hearth. - do not like the majority of the community. and i do not like the new LP curio system. Wurym - Didn't like the fact you had to have a lot of knowledge on misc. skills in order to lvl up the skill you wanted to.(wanna make bows. better be a good metal smith) also thought the time to increase skills took a rather long time. Ryzom - lack of a player base, and the crafting was descent but it felt just blah. i don't know any other way of puttin it UnReal world - downloaded it and played it. but i'm not lookin for a single player game, plus it wasn't as in depth as I like. Darkfall - I don't like macroing or AFK swimming under the docks Fallen Earth - don't like the time que on crafting and i dunno, i guess i'm a Fallout Fanatic too much to like FE as a postNuke game. Eve online - Liked the game and all sci fiish but got tired of the time based skill system and the never ending nerf-loophole cycle.
So there ya go. Would like a survival MMO or whatnot. would like to be able to do things other than hunt/kill and would like a server pop, if possible, that's newb friendly
I dunno. goodluck.
ALSO on somthing COMPLETLY different.
are there any star trek starfleet command type of mmo's out there. man i liked that game. fighting enemies, while fixing your ship and desciding whiletryin to focus fire against your enemie's weakend shield. Too bad it didn't go the MMO route. that could had been doable. |

Anyhoo, I remember playing the old mechwarrior games and wondered if they ever made a MMO like Mechwarrior mercanaries. pls dont suggest perpetuam. as i don't wanna play a land based eve game. |

To all those thinking about Haven and Hearth.
here is the "In Congress Assembled" forums post section. http://www.havenandhearth.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=25 this is where players and guilds talk and yell at each other for thier actions.
I post this because Haven and Hearth is unique in that you have character death. which means, if your character dies, you have to make a new character. sure you can inherit a % of your old charactar stats(anywhere from 75% to 25% give or take 10%) but it's almost basically starting over.
So if your still interested. sign up. make sure you have a Really Thick skin. and good luck(well good luck when the server comes back online) |

been playing for about a week and the server has been glitched at least 3 or 4 times.
most times it takes no time(under a half hour)
but last night it was like 6+ hours.
Though it's Free to Play. they still have probs with it :( |

Originally posted by Requiamer ok, lets break this down.
Eve? granted, considering that skilling is now pure time based. old style mmo skillins. . . yea i'll give you that. What the big companies want? can't go with you there as thier current system Breeds Alt armies out the Wazzooo. Macro/bot fest. the game lp system is now a hotbed for that m8. "now i don't have to have third party program macro's. i can just make 10 alts and "feed" them curios/crafted items. Hurraah, now i have my own personal army." agreed thier old system of lp was gettin macroed like it was cool, but this new system doesn't adress that it just takes out he 3rd party macro programs. this new system works for the established and ones who don't mind making 10 alts etc etc. so much better. m8 have you even read the forums on H&H? look at the forums now and compare with say world 3. no comparison. back in world 3 death meant something to Everyone, not just your new players. what OP is asking. to a point I can see where your coming from. but it's like tellin somebody who wants to see a video about cows and other assorted farm animals and such and you send them to a site where they are doing a documentry on how cows are processed in commercial slaughter houses. man that's not Even right. The fact is, yes H&H has what the OP wants, but it also has a ton a A-hole griefers whe will wait, yes i said wait, till you get your settlement all nice and prim, then come in a raze it to the ground, and they'll do this wothout killing you first(knock you out), so you can see all your hard earned work be destroyed right before your eyes. then kill you and take your pants(just for you Nao) so if anything, i'm giving the OP (imho) a valid warning of what lies down the road with H&H. |

Originally posted by Requiamer Have you played H&H lately?
it's World 5 and they changed the lp system. basically you have to craft/find items and put them into your "study" bank and wait for the timer to pop to get said lp. the higher quality craft/found items, the better lp. and the timer "pop" happens even when your offline.
though this sounds good. it's basically made death(for the experienced player in a descent village) nothing, for since this game only asks for a email adress and not a sub fee, people can literally make dozens of "alt" accounts. feed em the crafted/found items, and use them as thier personal griefer/thief army.
now for the brand new player, your basically Buggered. you see when i first started in W5 it took me bout 3 weeks to get just a smidgen af lp. but when i joined a descent sized village, i gained about twice that in the first few days. and considerin this game has perma death, your char will be losing anywhere from 25 to 75% of stats depending on where one of your sliders are(it's a LP multiplier)
i would suggest you Not goto this game. don't believe me. go on over to haven and hearth's forums. and browse the "In Congress Assembeled" sub forum. that's the game guild polotics forum.
http://www.havenandhearth.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=25 there ya go |

mortal online
hehhehehhehehe
they show all the naughty bits in that game.
fell off my comp. chair laughing, as i got into the game and saw some naked guy running right at me with his "twig n berries" all out.
I wonder is that part of the char customization? just lol |

OP is not false
I have been lookin for Years as well and here is my small entry:
Ryzon. Low population, the crafting was(imo) blahh(sorry, i just couldn't get into it). it looked good, but i just couldn't ge into it :(
Eve online. I been here off and on for over 5 years. Pro's your descisions have consequences, full loot(well what's left of your ship, that is), and lots of things you can do from day 1. But i couldn't stay with it. first off, the nerf's(but that should be expected) the time skill thingy(i would like to see a hybrid, like 50% time based, and 50% hands on based) bottom line for me was i became bored with the game :(
Wurm: Skills take a LONG time to establish, and most if not 80% of all skills are connected(you wanna make arrows and bows, better be a good metalsmith as well) the non pvp server is populated. but what I was TOLD was that the PVP server was a ghost town(i can't prove this, it was what i was told time and time again whenever i asked)
darkfall: loved this game, except it had 2 flaws that broke the game for me. it's a medevil FPS(you need to actually aim your axe, arrow or healing spell) and EVERYBODY MACROS I'm not joking, you go into a player city, and you'll hear or see dozens of characters just sitting at a place casting magics at someone, or out in a water spot macro swimming. the FPS was something i just wasn't good at, but the MACRO thingy, i just couldn't stomach.
Vanguard. LOVED the crafting. lil to no population and sony(also known as the third reich of mmo's) owns it.
hope this helps. all my RL friends are going to SWTOR. I prolly will to.
